- Jenifer Ringer, New York City Ballet principal dancer who’s also recently seen on Oprah and Today Show). - Suzanne Goldman, former ballerina with American Ballet Theatre. - Judith Fugate, former ballerina with New York City Ballet. - Barbara Cole, former ballerina with American Ballet Theatre. - Caitlin Seither, a young promise of American Ballet Theatre
What great video...I was in the same class with Nina Goldman, which her older sister is shown here....I do remember seeing Suzanne Goldman (shown in this video) rehearsing ...those were the days !!!!
When I was 5 I took ballet and because I was strong I was put into toe shoes, I could physically do it but it hurt and back then the tips of the shoes where wooden, I didn’t last long and the teacher didn’t push me too hard because of my age but I did the best job I could so I learned early on the amount of work it took and the dedication I would have had to continue, you can’t just make a blanket statement that people don’t understand how hard the work is cause there are a few of us out there that do understand and know and when I watch the dancers I’m thinking how beautiful the human body is when it is toned and making such precise movements their form is beautiful
I am so proud to count myself among the same brilliant strong passionate resilient gender as these stars among stars!!!!!! Balanchine Schmalanchine…give me these ARTIST-ATHLETE-GURUS❤️🔥
That's utterly ridiculous. I've danced for one of the nation's top ballet companies (Miami City Ballet) and I only knew two of them. Take that bad attitude somewhere else!!!
You're not the first person to say that. Unfortunately, I thought by not saying who they were until their individual sections would create interest/suspense, and make people want to watch it through. Thanks for your comments.
Yes, yes I see what you mean. I was a professional dancer so for me knowing who they are first draws me in. It is a beautiful film and they really opened up to you.
Thanks, David. Yes, I'm a professional dancer as well, and was actually quite surprised at how articulate and spot on their answers were. They were great.
None of this dancers speak about "the music" that is the inspiration and the reason to move out bodies to express beauty and should give the motivation to go on in such a lonely road.
The Ginger Rogers quote was popularized by by Ann Richards, (once Governor of Texas) but apparently it originated in a cartoon: "The line originated in a 1982 Frank and Ernest cartoon by Bob Thaves as "Sure he was great, but don't forget that Ginger Rogers did everything he did, ...backwards and in high heels." from Wikipedia.
yes but this Texas lady @sopranosd, Ann Richards was known fir snarky comments like that. Ginger did not feel that way and did not like coarse talk like that either. Ginger was astounding and so was Fred.
Jennifer Ringer and Judith Fugate. I don't recognise the third. Two former NYCB principals. Ballerinas? Definitely not prima ballerinas, but both were lovely dancers.
insane you dont know the dancers' names. ur so thrilled when jennifer ringers name is flashed up. the twightlight zone & torture the viewer school of film making. absurd. i guess the clueless filmmaker thought such a thing as telling the names of film subjects was too mundane.
Thus interview is A MESS ! PERIOD....then they threw these quotes in that are... Senseless , in regards to what the majority if these dancers are saying.
I love the ballet, but I could not STAND being viewed as an expendable piece of meat, and discarded once the shelf date has passed. What do these women have left with when their careers are over? Most have not yet reached middle age when they retire, but have little in the way of education, limited/distorted interpersonal experiences, few hobbies or interests, and bodies that are riddled with injuries and the pain that often accompanies that.
Einstein is wrong. ''The athletes of God'' are people who ''Fight the good fight, run the race, and keep the Faith'' a humble and faithful spirit. Dancing is flesh ..which as Jesus said ''profits nothing'' Good video though. :)
