Nobodys better than this not even Mozart. When these guys were alive and playing we had real superheros and congratulations to all those that got to see these guys live! I was lucky enough to see two shows by The Band minus R.Robertson and they were without a doubt the best two musical shows I ever got to see in my lifetime. Fantastic and thanks to Levon and Rick for being such absolute great men and musicians.
Rick's really singing high! He sounded great here too. Richard sang high too. That man is genuinely missed too. People too soon say RIP Levon, RIP Rick without consideration for Richard Manuel's genius contribution to The Band with his singing and his piano playing.
I have been looking for this video for a long time. This is the last public performance that Rick Danko sang on before he passed on. I could tell he wasn't in health and I cried when he died. He passed away on his birthday. Levon and the rest have left a big hole in music. I have The Last Waltz and my twin daughters know every song on it.
And by the way... this public performance aka The 30th Anniversary Concert Celebration aka Bobfest in 1992 was by far not the last that Rick sang before he passed on. There were many gigs to come before he died in 1999.

Another thought....I have watched this video and played this song so much; Back-ups on Back-ups! The Band being one of the great backup bands and having Booker T and the MGs backing them up on stage (Duck Dunn/ SteverCropper/ Booker T. Just Great!!
Nope, Rick Danko died seven years later, on December 10, 1999, just 3 days after his last performances (December 6-7) at the Ark in Ann Arbor, MI. That was the end of the road for The Band.
The Band are all like Gods to me and will b forever. It is a very impressive R.D. humming introducing the song and how the harmony switches at around 2.15. But who is playing that 2nd accordion? Tell me I am wrong but I suspect R.R.
The guy with the 2nd accordion is Richard Bell, keyboard player in The Band since 1992,. He passed away in 2007. R.R. never was a member of this nineties outfit of The Band and he would never have played the accordion.

finally figured out a line in When I Paint My Masterpiece "those mighty kings of the jungle I can hardly stand to see them" just looking at nworders makes me sick to my stomach "yes it sure has been a long hard climb" and that made it difficult for me to climb the ladder of success. "train wheels running through the back of my memory" revolution is part of my history "when I ran on a mountain" when I preached like MLK "following a pack" a predatory wolf pack "of wild geese" of vicious dumb people - should be gaggle of geese "someday everything is gonna be different when I paint my masterpiece." Only thing I can think of is "piece" as gun or piece as peace???
You’ve got The Big Three there. I have to go with “It Makes No Difference,” Last Waltz version, in which sounds like he’s in real time, talking directly to the woman who’s demolished him. It’s perfect in every respect except for Robertson’s solos, especially the second one, which is brief enough to be rescued by Garth Hudson’s celestial sax solo.. On the video, he just suddenly appears, as if summoned to erase the memory of that pretty poor, spiky solo by Robbie, who just wasn’t in the same league, instrumentally, as his band mates. But it’s Danko who pulls off the greatest performance of a lost love song I know of.
Yes, "It makes no difference" is probably my favorite. It's hard to compare, but you analysis of Rick's singing is spot on. I love all The Band members, but there's something special about Rick, love Robbie too, they were both so good looking when young, and had so much charisma.@@haroldsteinblatt2567
Robbie wrote that song with Rick in mind, he felt he would do it justice without it coming off as self pity, genius! Robbie also said of the song, time supposedly heal all wounds, except sometimes it does, this was one of those times. I have to disagree with you about Robbie's guitar playing, it think it is very good (he was named 59 out of a hundred by Rolling Stone Magazine). Have you watch Robbie and Eric Clapton from "Further up the road" from The Last Waltz?
