Michael is my favorite bangles. Her voice is big and beautiful and her face is a beautiful creation of God! I've never seen a face as beautiful as hers!
What a fantastic live version of "Let it go". It's great they played it, since it was not a new song then. But watch them: There's no interaction between the girls on stage. They hadn't their best times then.
You can see Micki trying so hard to not give into the female band questions. It was impossible to be a woman and technically great or gifted at your instrument and be reduced to "do you fight over men, have groupies, or steal crimping irons." But the music speaks for itself. Phenomenal musicians they were and are.
There are some dark clouds over this interview. Because in these days the problems inside the band grew. The new album EVERYTHING didn't sell as well as expected, Susanna was thinking about a solo career, and on their tour the girls did not get along as well as in former times. Michael and Susanna didn't even join Debbi's wedding. Only a few months later they split up.
The Bangles four part harmonies at their best. It's a shame that at the end of 1989 they split, having just had a N°1 hit (Eternal Flame). For those that like to analyze each one: Debbi is the "quiet" Bangle. She's the one who generally talks less in the interviews. Her sister Vicki, is the "loud" Bangle and self-appointed "Troublemaker" (her own words). Michael is the "cool" Bangle. She's the "Fonzie" of the group (try to disagree with that). And Susanna is the "popular" Bangle. She's the one all the boys have a crush on (or at least the majority....me included). And the four of them are beautiful and very decent people. I wish they had continued their run after 1989 and not taken that 10 year hiatus.
Classic!...Vicky looks so hot here!...and Susanna-as always-is the cute and sensitive one...I wanna be their groupie!...cuz they still rock and are still hot!
Sad to think they split up shortly after this aired. The band members have admitted in interviews that they weren’t good at talking to each other and trying to work out their differences. Susanna has also stated that she didn’t like being singled out as star of the band.
I think to of been able to compete with the boy bands, and Vicki is obviously more than Capable...Had actual long guitar solo's. that would of been something cool. If I perform a "Bangles Song Live I really do my best on creating guitar solo's when they are either short, or; Lacking. but this band really did it! The 80's belonged to them.
i hate how every interview with the bangles is about groupies, sex and being a "gurl band". they never talk about the songs, their background or how they play live.
The first question when it comes to female groups is always about "whether you get jealous of each other?". They NEVER ask that in male groups do they, it's like men don't get jealous or anything it's only a trait of female musicians.
The Bangles really screwed up when they broke up. Not many bands have gone out on top and they were on top with a number one single Eternal Flame off their last album.
They wanted their own lives and the band disallowed them that. Except for Michael Steele who was never married. They did get back together after having their families and do Doll Revolution but it was years later.
How dare you call "Let it go" a filler song? That song is amazing because it shows a well balanced harmony between the four girls. No wonder you're an Anette Zilinskas' fanboy.
For some reason in 1986 or so, I thought the bass player was all that. Maybe I still do. But gawd that hair! I am a Zeppelin guy but the gals worked on me I guess. I am OK with this band!
here's the fun part...vicki is playing the carvin guitar geared for playing super heavy metal tunes. i'm sure the endorsement money for playing it was great, but it really negelected their signature sound. So hollow, tingy and no resonance. I'm sure today, Vicki would say, uh-huh to that....they always exude great sustain and clearity live...ya-hoo. Have seen them several times. Met them too and even watched a show on stage at HOB! Really chill and public ladies. Check out their latest...
botflyguy The Bangles came back & are still with us, but Arsenio bombed when he tried to revive his old show, Arsenio (or Arse-senio ), was living in the past, doing his 1989 show in 2014.😂
Cosmic Callings like politicians, they put a lot of spin on what was really going on, even the fan club labelled the breakup as a "hiatus". Susanna has admitted it was all spin.
Now they are back with their original bass player Annette, & hopefully they will record & they will become the group they were meant to be, before the fame & fortune sidetracked them.

Arsenio was such a terrible interviewer. The only reason he stayed on so long is because he had acts that the other late night talk shows wouldn't book.
Great performance, but omg the interview is a snoozer! Leno, Letterman, Kilborne, Kimmel, or Ferguson could've done a better job. What's w/Arsenio? I've seen him do better interviews.
