Graeme Holm is Australia's Original Money Mentor. He is the best selling author of "The Money Mentor: How to Pay Off Your Mortgage in as Little as 7 Years Without Becoming a Hermit" and is the Founder of Australia's largest brokerage firm, Infinity Group, which now houses over 200 passionate and dedicated staff that are changing the lives of everyday Australians by allowing them to minimise their debt and maximise their wealth.
Graeme has gained popularity online for his no BS approach to finance and his motto FTB (F*** The Banks) but it isn't just his brash way of speaking that has Graeme so popular with his clients. Graeme was rated the number 1 Finance Broker of the Year 2022, 2023, 2024 via rate my agent (just some of the hundreds of awards he has won for demonstrating excellence in his field).
While Graeme is financially set for life today, his life as a child couldn't be more opposite to what he experienced as a child. At just 6 months of age, Graeme experienced horrible domestic violence to which he has had 4 seperate nose reconstruction to try and correct. Him and his single mother moved around housing commissions estates in the Wollongong area until his was old enough to get a job and move out.
After a decade of experience in the Big 4 Banks of Australia, Graeme realised how broken and corrupt the financial system was in Australia which gave birth to Infinity Group and his missions to revolutionise the entire industry and give the power and tools back to the people so they can live a life of financial freedom.
In this episode:
- Personal Accountability: While the current state of inflation and the property market paints a grim picture - Graeme breaks down exactly how "it's not as bad as you think" for most...
- The psychological impact of financial stress on children (and how that still impacts you as an adult).
- How Graeme went from a domestic violence victim that grew up in housing commission to a a personal net worth that would make your eyes water.
- "You Can't Out Save The Australian Property Market" - Why you need to get into the market sooner rather than later + The grants, schemes and incentives that can help you do just that.
- How home loan repayments really work and how much interest you end up paying on a 30 years mortgage (MIND BLOWING 🤯)
- Minimum repayments = Maximum Bank profits - you have been lied to!
- Offset Account vs Redraw Account: Which type or Mortgage is best for you depending on your individual circumstance.
- Budgeting: While creating a can be daunting for some, it's a MUST if you want to get on top of your finance and start building wealth. Graeme explains the only way to really create a budget.
- Why you should NEVER take financial advice from Friends or Family.
- The Power of Giving Back: Why helping others feels so much better than making yourself money.

Very interesting podcast. Thank you for inspiring me to take control of my finances after a major life upheaval. Respectfully, the saying is “the love of money is the root of all evil” not “money is the root of all evil”. Thanks again

So by reading the title of this video “How to save $479K in interest on a 500K home loan” I interpreted this to mean that a specific/detailed strategy will be shared to show you how to do this, however I am disappointed to say no such information was provided. So while naming this video is out of Graeme’s control, there were some interesting points discussed and while I do think Graeme and Dylan are genuine in their intent to help others this video provides no concrete examples that would all the persuasion I would need look more into what they do and possibly enlist their services. The short answer is from what I could grasp is understand what you are spending money, ask yourself did you really need to spend what you spent, use your monthly pay check for food, fun and bills (be strict) and always pay as much as you can above the minimum repayment the banks sets ( the more the better) There is probably more they have more to share but this video did not live up to it’s expectations, I personally find more beneficial/actionable advice on the Dave Ramsey channel for the same length as this video. I hope they can do better next time.

Curious about the comparison rate. I've spoken to 4 different banks about what their comparison rate means and have been told 4 different things e.g. Have seen a 1 year fixed rate for 5.99%, but the comparison is 8.5%. If I take the 5.99, and then change banks at the end of the 1 year am I paying 5.99 or paying 8.5%?

I need help. We owe $240000 on a once $90000 home loan we started in 2000. Just turned 60 and my ( good paying) job is killing me.

14 minutes in it’s called “tall poppy syndrome”. People hate to see others doing better than them because it makes them question themselves.
