A ride of the Barrakka Lift in Valletta, Malta, which is a public elevator linking the Valletta city center (via Upper Barrakka Gardens) in the upper part and the Grand Harbour on the lower part. These elevators were installed in 2012 to replace the original ones from 1905 which had been demolished in 1983 (ceased operation in 1973). The current elevators are KONE, which were installed by KONE's Maltese distributor, Mekanika Limited. A single trip to the top only costs €1, while return trip is free.
The Barrakka Lift are perhaps my favorite elevators to ride in Malta. As my cruise ship (where I worked) had a port of call in Valletta every Monday for embarkation until late of October 2019, I often went out to the city center or the Upper Barrakka Gardens (to use a public WiFi) during my free time by riding these elevators. It's like almost every Monday I rode these. For the elevators themselves, these are quite nice for being part of the city's urban transportation facility. They are fitted with KSS 140 vandal resistant fixtures which is perfect since these are outdoor installations. Also notice that these elevators have some sort of a "load detection" feature which I have never seen one before in any KONE elevator. It shows people the percentage of the car's load on the floor indicator, and the number increases as more people comes in. I have included another footage showing the feature in one of the cars when it was almost fully loaded! Pretty unique feature IMO, but I guess a lot of people won't notice it anyway.

You should try this when you're in Malta, and it's very cheap as well (as long as they won't increase the price)

Some nice elevators in a hill. I don't think why they add standard floor numbering (just like Monas floor numbering in Indonesia). But they're so fast.

You mean the floor numbering that goes 1, 2, 3, ...., and so on ?

Well this is in Europe where the floor numbering goes 0, 1, 2, 3 and so on (basement floors are marked with a minus instead of B). They don't use something like 1, 2, 3, .... unlike in Indonesia. But to be honest, floor numberings in Indonesia are uncertain depending on the building owner's request.

The percentage capacity indicator is suitable for lifts in Indonesia - Indonesian people are don't care about the capacity overload (usually on trade center malls)

That would be a good idea, but I don't think only a percentage will make them understand (you know our "wonderful" +62 people are) unless the indicator is made to look something a little bit realistic like a bar meter or something similar.

Idk why they chose to install a set of scenic doors outside but a solid door inside. Nevertheless, nice elevators.

You simply give the coin to the attendant standing just before the gates. There are ticket machines in there but they don't always work.

@Lia V No problem. Sometimes we make mistakes, even for the smallest detail. This is why I always include the recording date on the bottom of the description so that people will know when I visited/filmed the elevator(s) although sometimes I can't include the date on certain videos due to certain reasons or conditions.
