Another great walk through, I really wish that Cubase would show the waveform change as you time stretch an audio clip in the track view, this is something that's always been available in reason. When stretching in cubase the waveform doesn't show change until you've finished dragging, so for instance when trying to line up an unknown tempo accapella it's literally hit and miss until you're somewhere close. Also for anyone like me that usually works snapped to grids, holding ctrl whilst dragging a marker (ie hit points / events ) will temporarily disable snapping, this has saved me so many back and forth clicks or toggling of the grid and forgetting to re enable it.
Would have been curious to know if the next step would be to use "Flatten Realtime Processing" or the "Bounce" function? Or just leave it like it is in realtime and perform the mixdown without further processing? Is there a difference in audio quality between Flatten Realtime Processing and Bounce? Thanks again Anthony, you're the best for "let's have a look under the hood' type Cubase vids!!
Hi Anthony. Thanks for this video. I have a question related to the next step operation. I've noticed in my audiotracks that the shape of the audio track changes after time correction if you bounce it. In some case, a note changes from a peak of -2.5 db to a peak of -1 db. Do you know why is that and how to avoid it?
I've never observed that behaviour. The only thing that comes to mind is that you have event-based volume control (such as fades) that are being converted into raw audio - that would change the peak level. The point is that operations performed on the event are NON-destructive, but when you execute a bounce you're 'baking in' those changes to the underlying audio.
Thanks! It was very remiss of me not to point these features out, but there are "Reset" options on all the edit windows (the VariAudio page has multiple levels of options in the "Functions" dropdown). You can even remove all the hitpoints that form the basis of the quantizing from the Hitpoints page.
