Thanks heaps. I wish I’d found this video before I went to the art shop to buy my materials for an art course I’m on. I don’t know why, but getting information about charcoal from my teacher is like getting blood from a stone, and it’s really hard to find clear and detailed information about the varied facets of charcoal online, with an actual demo showing how each type looks. This is the best I’ve discovered by a mile. It’ll be back to the art shop for me now 🙄.

Is there something to use at the end to ensure the charcoal will be well fixed to the paper?
@evewhitmore6822
@evewhitmore6822 4 года назад
You can use a fixatif - It's like a spray glue that helps it stay on the paper.

3:45 ..”...you can immediately notice a difference in color.” No, not color....value. Also, you blow on your drawing to remove dust.Any tiny bit of moisture that hits your paper will result in an indelible dark spot. Isn’t it better to remove dust another way? I think it’s difficult to talk about what you are doing while you’re doing it. Too often, a person will assume that just because they know a subject, they can talk as they go, and be clear and articulate. It rarely works that way. Think and plan ahead exactly what you intend to say. You can’t just wing it.

@Pixie ArtQ .. Sorry. But if you put something up on RU-vid or anywhere else online, you must be prepared to hear what the public feels about it. Why don't you let the person who made the video speak for herself?
@jemimakaneko8734

It was still pretty informative and j took away alot from this video sure she might not use the right artistic terminology but she never claimed to be an art teacher she's just showing us something she find helpful.

Your using the same finger to smear different chalks to explain. It's confusing.

... kudos for doing the video ... but ... the terminology should be accurate for a teaching video ... it’s value not color ... additionally, the vine charcoal also comes in various hard through soft options ...

sounded like you were constaintly shouting in this video.
@slydoll7877
@slydoll7877 5 лет назад
I just commented on her voice..it's not that she was shouting but that her voice is at an artificially high pitch. Many, many women do this because society sort of expects it...or frowns on women with deeper, more commanding tones.
@xtonibx5770
@xtonibx5770 4 года назад
@@slydoll7877 It has nothing to do with society or women or whatever you're talking about. Female teachers almost always talk like this to get an entire classroom to hear them and understand them. They don't talk like this in normal conversations, but it's natural for educator women to speak like this when trying to teach something.
@slydoll7877
@slydoll7877 4 года назад
@@xtonibx5770 What are you talking about? I have literally never met one female teacher who speaks like this. This won't get everyone to hear her! It will irritate and cause students to tune out. It's not "natural" for "educator women" to speak like this at all.
@xtonibx5770
@xtonibx5770 4 года назад
@@slydoll7877 Yes the hell it is. I don't know what kind of school you've gone to, but fenale educators speak like this *all the time.* It sounds a bit louder in the video because she's recording herself with what is most likely a phone or a small digital camera with a faulty microphone sensitivity. You can probably go to any educational video by a female teacher on RU-vid and they speak in a similar manner. They also speak clearly in videos so their directions are clear and their unclear tone doesn't annoy people who can't understand what they're saying. What are you talking about society for?
@slydoll7877
@slydoll7877 4 года назад
@@xtonibx5770 No. They really don't.
@slydoll7877
@slydoll7877 5 лет назад
God bless you but your voice is so...high pitched that it really sounds unbearable. I couldn't watch...can I offer some advice? Try to modulate your voice a little. It's true that many women have naturally high-pitched voices but many have also adopted a higher pitch than might be natural to them due to cultural expectation. Getting "into your voice" will help your videos.
