Stupid question, but when taking my well seal cap off the bottom threaded piece fell down into my well. : / can I get it out assuming I can reach it with a roped magnet?

I have a 8" well pipe that is not used. It's just the pipe without the electrical conduit pipe on the side of it. What cap can I use?

GREAT info and suggestion about stainless steel fittings, the 2 properties we have the well folks used galvanized which is now rusting, I decided if & when we have to replace I WOULD use S.S., this helps me to remember such, if there a TYPICAL / COMMON length of the tru nipple that mates in between the coupler & top fitting?

Typical lengths are 4" or 6." Glad the video helped!

Can I replace a cast iron well seal with an abs well seal?

I have a different set up with a Merrill web cap, on top is the Grundfos cu 301 (programming system) in a box on the center of the cap. Trying to figure out how to remove the. The box has a galvanized pipe at the bottom of the box into the cap, it is threaded. Should I leave the box on top and take the bolts off to lift the cap off. Wish I colluded post a photo.

We had our well drilled last year and installed pump with overhead discharge for construction purposes, eventually it will be pitiless adapter because we are up in Wisconsin. Few days before first frost I disconnected power to pump and drained all water above well seal, I guess some of the water remained 5-6 feet down around check valve and eventually froze because we were excavating for the house and well casing got exposed by 4 feet below ground level. About a week and turned on power and no water is coming out of the pipes. I can hear the pump running and I think I hear some splashing below but I’m not sure what it is. Well is 200 ft and water level is at 110 ft. I tried pulling on that tee above, it moves up about 2” and I can feel the weight of the pump, so it didn’t brake. Is there a chance check valve broke and not letting water through?
@RPSSolarPumps
@RPSSolarPumps 2 года назад
Sorry to hear that. Sounds like the freezing may have damaged your drop pipe and the water is flowing out of the damaged pipe and back down the well before reaching the surface. Be careful lifting at the pitless, if you pull it out of the pocket you will be holding all of the weight and will need to get it lined back up. 200ft is doable to pull yourself if you have some basic tools and equipment, or might need to call a professional.
@vitaliypro8441
@vitaliypro8441 2 года назад
@@RPSSolarPumps pitless adapter wasn’t installed yet, pipe is going straight up through well seal like one in your video. They used 20’ long 1” pvc pipes (5 or 6 of them) and then brass check valve and I think another piece of pipe about 4-6 feet long. If I’m not mistaken there was a small hole in that last piece right above check valve to let the water drain. Problem is our well is on the edge of 12’ deep excavated site the house, foundation is there, but in order to backfill and be able to bring truck with boom lift to the well, I have to pour concrete floor inside the basement. Can’t pour concrete without water. On another side of the well is steep hill with lots of trees. Not possible to bring equipment there. My plan is to build small wooden crane and use cable winch to lift it up. Than use some sort of clamp to grab a pipe
@RPSSolarPumps
@RPSSolarPumps 2 года назад
@@vitaliypro8441 Ah okay, still sounds like a broken pipe down in the well due to freezing. You might get lucky and be able to pull it up 10-20ft, and swap out the broken section. Good luck!

What holds the pipe tight inside the well cap
@RPSSolarPumps
@RPSSolarPumps Год назад
The lip on the Tee at the top rests against the top metal plate of the well seal, taking all of the load and distributing it axially to the top of the well casing.

Where does the manual pump install for use in overcast days
@RPSSolarPumps
@RPSSolarPumps 4 года назад
We recommend storage of 2-5 days of water for cloudy weather, so you can avoid using a manual pump. However, if that is not an option we have generator input kits and battery backup, although batteries are not required!

What is the white plastic thing called a vent? Can you buy that 1 part alone? Mine is damaged. I cannot seem to find it. I may not know the correct product name.
@RPSSolarPumps
@RPSSolarPumps 3 года назад
Usually that hole is used as a vent, extra wires or for a probe when measuring static water level. I believe you can just find a PVC plug that fits the thread at any hardware store. Nothing special about it. If you cant find one in the irrigation supply area, check the conduit section as well.

Is there any circumstance where your well would be completely sealed and under vacuum? After 40 years of running I had to replace my pump and the cap was totally sealed and under vacuum. I used a piece of poly pipe for the wires and heated it into a j or candy cane shape so it's pointed down. I left it open to vent through that pipe. Would it not help draw water into the well faster under vacuum? I know by doing so it would add a few pounds of head ratio to the pump and make it work harder. My pump is 125 feet down.

Do the old pipe and pump need to be removed? Any concrete needed?
@RPSSolarPumps
@RPSSolarPumps 3 года назад
Yes it is usually best to replace the drop pipe on older wells if there is any sort of rusting or degradation.

When I walk into the store what do I ask them for a 1 inch Poly pipe?
@RPSSolarPumps
@RPSSolarPumps 5 лет назад
@@marcos22571 Yes, you can ask for "1in back poly pipe". Best to get at least 160PSI or higher depending on your depth of well. Lowe's sometimes has it in stock in 100ft rolls if that is long enough?
