Bellarmine University head coach Scott Davenport joins the Basketball Podcast to discuss pressing on offense with the pass.
Scott Davenport became the 11th coach in Bellarmine University men’s basketball history, and in six years took Bellarmine all the way to the top by leading the Knights to the 2011 NCAA Division II Tournament national championship. For his efforts, he was named national Coach of the Year by two different organizations: the National Association of Basketball Coaches and the Division II Bulletin.
Davenport’s career record of 378-117 (through the 2020-21 season) ranks him as Bellarmine’s all-time winningest coach both in terms of total wins and winning percentage (.763).

Fantastic Interview of a great coach. I call this Helter Skelter - which is a way of using all the Space and Time allotted with the Players on Hand -- Space TIme Team -- in Football it's Power Spread - in Basketball it's Helter Skelter - a way of ordering a potentially chaotic game thru a rhythm developed thru countless hours of practice that develops that instinct that is so important in Basketball. Helter Skelter sounds like Chaos- it's not - the Helter Part is the Read/React part -- Skelter is the Order part that becomes second nature thru practice. I love to see the coaches on the sidelines - see who is trying to control the game - who is completely letting the game run free (see this in NBA) and the ones who have a balance - letting the players find IT -- that elusive balance -- as a TEAM - using all SPACE and TIME -- TIMING - -- Helter Skelter -- The ideas that Coach Davenport is sharing hearkens back further than Pitino and Crum -- it hearkens back to the Creator - Naismith - it's all about feet - All Court -- and Passing --- absolutely -Love It! They probably killing the zone with this system. This kind of motion is the best for zones in general. And naturally they put the big guy in the foul line so...
