I’m very thrilled, honest…. It’s nice seeing good movies and younger versions of the film stars I knew growing up. Last film I saw in theater was Vanilla Sky. Seven dollar tickets for me and the wife to be… 4 dollar pop corn and 3 dollar sodas. Almost 30 bucks for yet another over hyped movie?! Last film I likely enjoyed at the theater was Karate Kid. Enjoyed the movie… following 5 weeks at 9pm and 11 we’d park near the theater and watch everyone karate fight for free. Pretty much what my friends and I did when we saw it. Fantastic! Oh yeah! Watching the girls giggle and roll their eyes…. Can’t remember anything as funny and predictable after a movie.
This movie has it all. A haunted house, trap doors, secret walls, a fire, many murders, lost money, bank heist, a creature on the loose half man half animal a.k.a. The Bat, troublesome phone, people coming in and out with the most outstanding characters Vincent Price and Agnes Morehead and continuous suspense. A fun thriller!
Agnes Moorehead had it all as an actress.... She had class, style, and old world manners... She coincidentally is buried in one of the most unusual places.... She is buried in Dayton Ohio which was an ancestral center for her... She also had a masters degree in English and public speaking, She had the opportunity to work with Orson Wells as well as well known fellow actor Joseph Cotton and let us also remember that famous actor Vincent Price. (the master of the macabre).... Rest In Peace Mrs Moorehead.... the world misses you....

As long as I see Vincent Price, I am watching the movie. No modern actors are like the actors of the old days. I am in my 20s and I would watch a black & white movie anyday over the modern movies 💕😍
What a Gem of an Suspense thriller🎥. Moorhead and Price with a supporting cast make this a enjoyable treat! Keeps you on your toes till the end. I love black and white films!!!
Excellent movie, and clever plot. Agnes Morehead was sublime, as was Vincent Price and the others. What a pleasant surprise to see little Darla of "The Little Rascals" fame as an adult.
Besides being a brilliant actress who carried herself with class & dignity, Moorehead had the greatest single resumé credit of all time: "I was in Citizen Kane".
@@jupiterlegrand4817 I've got half an hour left this is a great movie, I believe everything you said, & she is the only Agnes that I have seen or known with that name that was attractive, you may know do you think that was her hair even though Long braid, and yes I agree her and price are brilliant, priceless, definitely the true meaning of Stars.
Thanks for the movie. Great one. I know Morehead's voice when I hear it instantly. Love her presence and look. She was a grand dame, even on Bewitched where I first saw her.

In a 1987 interview on Sinister Image (1987), Vincent Price revealed that the stage version of "The Bat" had terrified him when he was a child and he accepted the role in this film because he thought the filmmakers "would revive it and bring it up to date," but he was disappointed with the final result because "it wasn't a good script." - The fourth film adaptation of the novel and stage play.
Yep, the secretary is Darla Hood, most famous as The Little Rascal's Darla. Vincent Price and Agnes Moorehead (Endora in Bewitched) in 'The Bat'. One of my fave 50's horror/mystery movies. With Gavin Gordon, outstanding character actor with 109 movie and TV credits over 40 years. Excellent video quality by the way.
I love watching Vincent Price and peter laury. The movie where they had the wine contest together is my favorite movie with them both in it. I always love to watch that movie with a glass of wine in my hand. It is so relaxing to me and that movie is got a lot of funny moments in it to.

@@mikekemp9877 I love that part. Also side note when Charles Manson was alive and planning on murdering a few celebrities. He was going to murder Peter Lorrie's Daughter but when he found out who she was he decided not to murder her just because of who her father was. So they did not murder her.
@@mr.garlicman3134 thats odd because one of lorres daughters was nearly killed by the night strangler richard ramirez when he went solo after parting with his cousin.she was called by him as she advertised for a house sitter but apolice car outside put him off! He then went to the pacific northwest where he used the same ruse killed the girls and got caught.
Cannot believe I gave up on this film after 20 Minutes!!!! Watching it again now and thoroughly enjoying. Mind you anything with Agnes Morrehead and Vincent Price is always excellent. Thanks for the upload.
I was 9 yrs old the summer it was released. A bat flew into our house and I was terrified...because when the bat flies... This is the first time I've seen the movie. All that terror over a delightfully silly movie. Love the cast.
Great horror movie. Love Agnes Morehead. She had a Ph.D in English. Also first time I saw Darla Hood(Little Rascals) as an adult in a movie. Agnes Moorehead's greatest appearance however was on the masterpiece, ingenious Twilight Zone episode "The Invaders" which was 99% silent except her grunts and the fantastic ending with approx. 30 seconds of talk(not hers).

However I disagree since her Twilight Zone acting was superb as well as that episode probably I'd say in top 5 episodes of TZ along with the outstanding Will The Real Martian Please Stand Up with the great but unknown John Hoyt!!!
@@johnc2438: This morning Monday 9/20/21 on SyFy channel as every Monday and only Monday beginning at 4 AM till 6:30 AM they show the Twilight Zone-they had The Invaders(1962) with Agnes Morehead - completely silent except her grunts until the last minute when a small astronaut Earthling starts talking. I've seen all the episodes since about 1964 when I was 16 at least 500 times but this morning I heard something I missed all these almost 55 years: the Earth astronaut frantically speaks to Earth that the other astronaut Grisham is dead(Agnes Morehead killed him and is destroying the spaceship with an ax). Unbelievably and coincidentally almost the same name Grissom and two other astronauts died differently in a capsule fire 4 years later in 1965!!! It's an unreal prediction that could only come of course from the twilight zone!!!

Now to answer your question yes that's where she destroys the space ship and kills the astronauts who are from Earth who have landed on a planet of human like giants(Agnes) but they're not human!
Thank you for posting. I've seen many of Vincent Price's films over the years but not this one. It was a lot of fun. But honestly, I love his cheesy films like the Dr.Phibes films the most. He showed us all his love of comedy and never took himself so seriously. Just had fun with these pulp films.
7.5/10 A Pretty Interesting Mystery Thriller with just enough Red Herrings To Keep Your Mind Busy Speculating, Though What Really Makes This Film Unusually Fascinating would be the fact that the Female Castmembers are granted more Character than just being hysterical Damsels in Distress
Agnes Moorehead was spectacular, I thought she was so lovely & exotic looking when she was younger & I loved her as Endora & thought she was lovely still.
Agnes Moorhead is always hot and has a rocking body. If you saw her in a bikini you would drool. Scratching her long nails on your back with sun tan lotion on the sand. Erecting your beach umbrella.
This movie had more twists and turns than you can shake a stick at. The person that was the least likely suspect turned out to be the Bat. Was sure caught off guard. This movie is a real classic.
Love the movie, love the silly plot, love the actors, love the quality of the print but wow . . . love that crazy music, man. Fantastic B-movie package.

When the kids were younger Friday evenings I would let them have a creature feature night. The first time I played this movie for them an actual bat got in the house somehow and started to fly around...it disappeared after 15 or so minutes...Now that is cosmic...
The woman who plays Lizzie make's me laugh, the housekeeper , the cook , the butler , and the upstairs maid, don't think so , she plays a brilliant part not sure of her real name but she's a good actress they're all good, it's a great film love the golden oldies so atmospheric can't beat them, so much better than some of the film's today, they're to dark and half the time you can't tell what's happening,these didn't have the special effects of the film's today but as I said they have the atmosphere and suspense.
I have to wonder if this was considered horror or just suspense in 1959. With today's eyes it's a bit campy and even funny to me, but I'm only a little bit morbid in my senses! LOL Still very enjoyable to watch. Vincent Price and Agnes Moorehead were legends in their craft! ❤
Campy horror!! B grade that's the beauty of them!! A lot of them are funny!! Don't bother with modern horror anymore!! Waste of time trying to find a good one
2020! Bat soup is off my menu for now with COVID19 pandemic running rampant. Love the B&W classics especially the Friday Flick Fright Night!! & Mr Vincent Price.
