I agree with almost everything ...more or less.. The Dark Knight is definitely the no 1 still. I'm always of the opinion that a ' great movie overall' takes precedence over 'a great Batman movie'. Plus the Dark Knight has scenes and sequences that'll probably be rewatched for another 50 yrs to learn certain aspects of the craft. The sheer rewatchability takes the trump card for me. About the others.. I'd have ranked The dark Knight rises a bit higher. I won't argue against the inconsistencies in the writing. I just have a much greater love about several aspects of that movie. The climbing up the well scene actually helped me get out of depression once! I can never forget that! So you can call it a personal bias. Batman Begins and Batman returns are two movies other I love... However I was genuinely surprised at the ranking of BvS . Not that I loved it. But I always thought most people did!

I understand that when The Dark Knight came out it was bold and different for its time (not to mention Heath Ledgers iconic performance). But from a cinematic and story-telling perspective, The Batman is by far the best batman film that has ever been made. Not to mention the cinematography also complimented the atmosphere of Gotham, something i didn't feel in Nolan's trilogy. This film truly made me feel as if it were taking place in the Gotham city we read about in comics.

Also the music score to this day is amazing.) #2. The Batman( he has time to grow, we need more for him. Has potential to beat the dark knight because it seemed to fit the comics and detective vibe. The suit was great and I loved the realism it had.) #3. Batfleck (he was kind of dry and didn’t do much for me. So we were able to see what Bruce/Batman were experiencing first hand-- much like if we were playing him as a gamer. Especially the murder/mystery aspect of the film. People were complaining on the length. I didn't notice the almost 3 hour time. I was so enthralled in the story telling and visuals. The Batman would be number 1 for me. Gotham feels much and I mean MUCH more like Gotham here whereas it felt like New York in the Dark Knight. What Heath did as Joker in the Dark Knight, is what Pattinson does as Batman for me in The Batman with his performance. One thing that I have not seen in Nolan movies was the growth of Bruce Wayne, he was the exact same from Begins to the DKR where as I think, that the deliberate choice of making Bruce cold and recluse in the first film gives him a lot of space for development and to eventually grow into the definitive Bruce Wayne. As Batman I think he is leagues above Bale or any other actor for me.

At 52, I feel like such an old fart among the young folks. I love Batman 89, Batman Returns and The Dark Knight. Cillian Murphy was SO under used in Batman Begins. One thing you guys should point out is that while we gush over Bale, Battinson and Affleck's portrayals, give Keaton his flowers. The modern day Batman image on film comes from his performance back in 89. Just my humble opinion.

What Nolan was able to do in his iteration of Batman was amazing. However, his Gotham was severely lacking in the 2nd and 3rd films. It was just New York City with a few extra bridges. Matt Reeves delivered a true version of Gotham that felt unique, interesting, and lived in. Both directors produced masterpieces in The Dark Knight and The Batman. However, Matt Reeves delivered a pure Batman experience in a world that had me immersed from start to finish. 1. The Batman 2. The Dark Knight 3. The Dark Knight Rises 4. Batman Begins Everything else interchangeable
@rohan34
@rohan34 2 года назад
The Dark Knight had a more well paced script and was very ideological, so it continues to endure as a movie. The Batman is the best Batman adaptation. We get to hear Batman's mental monologues, the criminal's fear of Batman is nicely visualised. His methods are crude as it is in many comics in the initial years. All I wish for now that Batman universe expands out of this.

I wouldn't call The Batman soulless. It's directed by Matt Reeves, who made 2 of the most soulful blockbusters of the last decade(Dawn of the Planet of the Apes and War for the Planet of the Apes). A lot of what he brought to those films is present in The Batman. However, as much I love Matt Reeves, Nolan is my favorite director. There isn't a film of his I don't like. This is a man who challenges traditional story structure while never forgetting the heart and soul of a film. I love both of their takes, but I had more issues with The Batman than any of Nolan's trilogy.

My favorite is probably The Batman. While the Christopher Nolan films were really good for it's time, The Batman just felt more grounded in reality. It also played out the perfect detective type of Batman we've been wanting for a long time. I also can't say enough about The Riddler. I loved the fact that they gave him inspiration from the zodiac killer because that's exactly what he was in the film. Griddy, dark, atmospheric, and intense all into one. But hey that's just my opinion. I still have a ton of respect for Christopher Nolan's Batman movies and what he accomplished.
