The battle between your WILL and your PAIN is inside you RIGHT NOW

For thousands of years, the philosophical debate surrounding the existence of free will has remained polarizing, dividing people into opposing camps. Let me be clear: I'm not asserting that I've resolved this old topic. I'm not here to engage in another philosophical discourse. After all, what difference does it make to add another spot to a leopard?
Instead, having been exposed to the traumas of thousands of people, I've observed a distinct and compelling correlation between trauma and the absence of free will, as well as the connection between healing and the gradual recovery of it. In essence, my aim is to approach this discussion in practical terms, offering insights that enable us to exert more sovereignty over our actions.

Acting from our wounds rather than from our free will explains addictions so well! It also explains why some people can stop using certain substances, while others stay trapped… I used to think that those who stop have a stronger will, but you confirmed that, in fact, they are less wounded and that’s why it’s easier to stop. We live in a society that glorifies a certain type of superficial strength and control, and sees wounding as weakness that needs to be suppressed and hidden. Another reason why we need more awareness and more healing! Thank you Iván!🙏🏻 Love your drawings, they are really helpful in explaining the concepts.✍️

I love the situation of this conversation in the practical and not the philosophical. Such a refreshing perspective.

Helpful characterization. Actions often stem from our trauma. Healing that trauma and acknowledging that fact can give us more power and compassion. Thanks Iván!

Great point of view. It looks like healing of so many wounds is a endless process 😅

If the thinker were real, there would be no suffering, we would all only think nice thoughts. Thoughts arise and decisions follow. Everything that is already is. There is no real choice. The doer is an illusion

We are emotionally governed creatures. And the wounded emotions from our childhood are making our decisions in the present day. And then we pass the wounding to our children as we make decisions for them from that same wounded space. Yikes! 8:32

What do I do if there’s a behavior or mindset I don’t like but I cannot figure out where the wound is or when it happened?
@IvanChocron
@IvanChocron 6 месяцев назад
That's a longer conversation, but the short RU-vid comment version is to remove any shame that might be present from the idea that you are doing it out of your free will or because something is wrong with you. Even if you don't know where it comes from, if it is not a behavior that goes toward your wellbeing you know it must be coming from somewhere. Removing shame can help bring acceptance, and acceptance can lead to, eventually, find out where it came from. It can also allow for the feelings trapped in there to emerge and be processed.

To focus on healing the wounded space…awareness of that wound is first. Then what???
