Watch as Azeroth’s massed forces arrive on the Legion’s homeworld in the prologue to Patch 7.3-Shadows of Argus. The last battle for Argus begins… For the latest information visit: WorldofWarcraft.com
Never has Velen looked more tired, mentally and physically. His expressions and voice tones really show his age, and it's amazing work they did on this cinematic
Illidan didn't do what he did for his people. illidan always wanted more and more power. doing it for his people was the excuse to take on the fel, nothing more. Velen did sacrifice a lot to save the few drainei left.
Wrong, Lalami. Very wrong. Illidan did what he did for ONE person. The one person he loved more than anyone. The one person he gave everything to protect the world for. Tyrande. And as I can only hope we have all learned... fighting save the ones you love, IS fighting to save the world.
MacHavok84 you with your char "Hey guys, I am also here, heellooo can't you see me? Don't ignore me you called me "champion\hero" 10000000000 times, plus I do use this fuking artifact wepp. Artifact wepp matters, no, no? HELLOOOO???!!!"
Khadgar got his time in the sun, we don't need his punnery when we're trying to have serious cutscenes. (Though his moment with his old friends about whose turn it was to buy drinks was pretty funny)
I don't think a lot of you folks realize: Illidan is straight up just trying to push him to fight for his people, and it clearly worked hence why Velen looked to him at the end.
The problem is he is doing it in a way to make him abandon the light. Theres one thing to make him take a stand theres another thing to try and break him of his commitments. And Illidan is treading that line.
I don't think he's urging him to abandon the light. More like he's telling him to "walk his talk" instead of just sitting back and thinking everything will be laid out for him by the light.
TheTrackDownTeam Red Shirt Guy asked the devs and Blizzcon about this and they fumbled about bullshitting about how there may be something on the opposite side of the planet. Clearly they never thought about this until now. It'll be like Mists all over again. /puke
"The Light is holding you back. It's time to forge your own path." You can say a lot of things about Illidan, but those lines were simply amazing and true.
Illidan: This is it, this is where the legion falls! Taran Zhu arrives behind everyone from a random portal Illidan: How did....what are you doing here pandarian? Taran Zhu: The Legion has been terrorizing this world, after all is said and done, they shall stand trial in pandarian court.
Khadgar: Without its master's command, the legion will become an even greater threat to this world. There must always be... *A Sargeras.* Turalyon: This burden, it must be mine, for there is no other- Bolvar Fordragon: *TURALYON!*
Illidan is many things, but in here, there is truth to his words,...Velen put faith in the Light, then watched his people suffer, die or get turned to the Legion's side.I was always neutral in regards to Illidan, but it amazes me how he can peer into a person's soul and see the truth.
*Without Illidan:* Draenei: "What are your orders, prophet?" Velen: "Set course to the farest charted planet. We'll make a new life there. The... the Light commands it."
This is a great moment cus so far Velen has been portrayed as this perfect font of wisdom but Illidan exposes his crippling naivety. In these crucial events, Velen refrained from action because he became too reliant on the Light as a guide. His suspicions were in the right direction but he held back because he didnt trust them without validation from his faith - too used to having everything spoon fed to him through visions.
There is a vast difference in Velen's actions vs. Illidan's. Yes he sacrificed the lives of his Moon Guard. Yes he hated it. And if he hadn't done it they would have all been dead anyway. That's the facet of Illidan that everyone from his brother to Maiev have been unwilling to see, his willingness to do whatever it takes to beat back the legion, no matter the cost. He knows in this fight one can't be good and noble and expect to win, sometimes you have to make very hard and ugly decisions.
@Libertum Music Actually, it was retconned, as it goes against the new image they wanted for Illidan. He ENJOYED killing the Moon Guard slowly, as it made him feel more powerful.Yea... Kinda goes against the image of "misunderstood hero".
True. But if he hadnt done that everyone else would have died as well. It is sorta more justified then velen honestly. I mean, not trying anything, whole world burns. Illidan sacrifices a few, whole world doesnt burn. Messed up thing to do, but honestly he probably made the right decision there.
Spookyturbo had Velen and the remaining draenei made a stand on Argus, they most likely would have died.(no one can stand against Sargeras) Without them, azeroth's heroes never would have gone to Argus, or even known about the army of the light. They did the right thing, Illidan just sacrifices everyone and everything thing in an attempt to stop the legion.
If the Draenei stayed on Argus they either would have been completely wiped out OR they would have eventually joined the Legion. Imagine Archimonde, Kil'Jaeden, AND Velen all serving Sargeras. Velen was wise to escape.
Nexius To save Suramar, their deaths prevented even more lives from being lost. He made a tough and controversial decision, his mages didn't die in vain. He regretted their death. Whether you feel he was justified and had no other choice is a separate issue but he didn't run or do nothing. That's Illidan's point. Plus this prove Illidan doesn't buy that bullshit about the light being his redemption
no please don't we already had Archbishop Benedictus go down that path we don't need another priest character repeat the same cliche thing over again. They'll get killed of this way anyway
This video is exactly why I like Illidan. He doesn't hold back, he doesn't coddle, he calls it like he sees it. If more people did this, there would be a whole lot less bullshit in real life.
Kenneth Merriman Sometimes you need sensitivity to reinforce the truth that you’re trying to get people to listen to otherwise, aggression is not the end all and be all when it comes to expressing the truth to those same people.
Except if Velen and the Draenei had not escaped Argus when they did... No Vindicaar, no Velen, no Army of the Light... We won because of Velen's sacrifice. He's the man who sacrificed everything! His world. His FAMILY. His brothers on the Triumvirate. Compared to that, Illidan is nothing.
One of Blizzards best cinematics ever. Illidan is such a complex and interesting character and Velen seriously looks like he's hiding something. But you can't help but want to have faith in the light in the same token and commend Velen for wanting to do the same. Just awesome. Well done Blizzard. Love it!!!
The legion! The legion, dude! it will go down in history. Such an amazing expansion. Come on, Blizz. Don't let us down with the next one, as you did with BfA. Give us what we want. GIVE US MORE EPIC!
I think he kind of looks like Jafar, with his red clothes and black hair x) Its funny cuz he also looks like he'd be the most sarcastic out of the three of them.
From the first day I played Warcraft, I'd have never predicted that the series would evolve into waging a cosmic war against an infinite army of demons on their decrepit homeworld. I love this series.
Loved this dialogue. Illidan and Velen are both trying to do the same thing but have taken different routes entirely. No wonder they have trouble working together.
Velen: You'll never understand what I did to save my people. Illidan, who joined up with the legion to help his people, became hated for it, the girl he likes married his brother, he was imprisoned on multiple occasions and even banished at one point, tried to kill Arthas for the common good but was stopped by the good guys, created an entire faction in order to save Azeroth, was nearly killed and then nearly possessed by the dark titan, who has a warden CONSTANTLY chasing after him trying to kill/imprison him, all in the name of saving Azeroth and defeating the Burning Legion: Oh, I won't understand your sacrifice? Cute.
Velen: We make our stand! The last battle for Argus... has begun. Soldier: Great, but those aren't orders, sir... Are we gonna let them hit us? No shield or maybe moving the ship out of line of fire?
"You will never understand what I did to save my people" -remembers when alternate Velen sacrificed himself to the light in order to aid his people against the orc invasion The feels man
@@CIAinTaiwanAndUkraine well iron horde pretty much deserved it, at least draenei gives them a chance to serve the light while Orcs was in the intent of genociding them.
@@strider8662 Iron Horde, maybe. The Frostwolves sure didn't though. And I'm pretty sure Velen would have been horrified at what Yrel turned his people into.
I am quite surprised to see all this...this SURPRISE, and disdain for Illidan's behavior in the cinematic. People are now saying how dickish he acts, and berating him for his rudeness towards the prophet. Meanwhile im looking at everyone like, "Uh... What did you THINK he was like???" Nothing was out of ordinary for me. THIS is Illidan! While everyone got so caught up in the 'Illidan-can-do-no-wrong' hype, they seem to have forgotten who Illidan is. He is not, and has never been, a goody-good guy. Those dickish tendencies have been there from the jump. That bravado, that arrogance, that sneer. Yep, perfectly normal to me. What, you thought he was gonna walk down all respectful like "Ah, the wise Velen. It is an honor to fight beside the great proph-" NO!!! He's never been that way. Hate to snap you guys back to reality, but allow me to re-introduce you to the Illidan Stormrage the rest of us knew from the beginning.
Oh god, I would give this Comment a thousand Thumbs-Up if I could. You nailed it. All of us who knew Illidan from the old days were pretty much waiting for this. This is how he is SUPPOSED TO BE. If they suddenly had him turn to the Light I would have lost faith in Blizzard. It will never happen.
im late to the party bro... when isaw him in the WC3 i knew he was special man... i was pissed when they killed him off in BC and was HAPPY AF when i found out he is being brought back in legion. look at the rest of the puppets that hold illidan in disdain. those the ones when something happens in this nation... would stand by and do nothing.
*Have people here actually followed the actual lore where Velen tried to convince Archimonde + Kil 'Jaeden to stop joining Sargeras but they flat out refused to listen because of their quest for power?! Resisting is one thing, going on a suicide mission is a whole different thing! Velen chose to fight another day, when the time is right and he has enough support to take out this burning crusade!*
Didnt the worlds the draenei leave behind do kinda terrible due to the Legion following them? That's still alot of innocent lives lost for "fighting another day"
TFW whoever wrote Illidan's dialogue wants you to take the line about Velen failing his people and getting them all killed seriously after we had to sit through a dozen boring quests in which Illidan *literally murders his own comrades-in-arms* and *steals their life-essence to empower his magic* for "the greater good"...
It WAS for the greater good. He wasn't going to be able to beat the legion otherwise, and if he hadn't they were all going to die anyway. Illidan knew better than the others there that there was no value in going down fighting, they were the only thing standing between the legion and everything else. Illidan was and is willing to make ugly decisions because feel-good actions are not going to win the war.
@@belad0nna Stealing the Dragon Soul from Malfurion and giving it to Azshara for her to stabilize the portal was TOTALLY for the greater good. /sarcasm That was stupid. Illidan's a complete idiot and the retcon is just plain nonsense. Broxigar had nothing but contempt for Illidan because Illidan was a smug, abusive, arrogant prick who got off on torturing people with magic, like when he burned Broxigar's fingers when he was no threat. Or betrayed Malfurion in the way I mentioned. Illidan was an arcane addict who couldn't bear the thought of being without mana, which is why he stole the Dragon Soul to give to Azshara. It's also why he created a brand new (if smaller) Well of Eternity despite the Well being a frigging BEACON to the Legion to begin with, because the Legion found Azeroth the first time (sorta) because of all the arcane energy. It's why we had to stop Malygos when he was (initially) building up all the arcane energy of the world in the Nexus, before he decided to reroute it all to the Azure Dragonshrine so he could destroy all who resisted him with Mana Elementals popping up. It would've had the other result of calling the Legion back to Azeroth.
Yayyy people are finally listening to Illidan, the only one with the balls to do what needs to be done, ahaha Ysera come look at th-......oh.......yea.
