🟢 In “The Battle To Save Celtic” series we’ve spoken extensively with supporters groups, financial analysts, former board members, Celtic fanzines and journalists, as we continue to cover the story from all angle.
But what we’ve yet to cover in any great detail up until now is how the new Celtic was shaping up AFTER Fergus McCann came into power in March 1994
Ahead of the 1997/98 season it became clear that McCann wanted to introduce a new European style structure to the Football Department, and with that came the newly created role of General Manager
We were therefore delighted to be joined by that very man as Jock Brown told us of 510 fascinating days in Paradise as part of the Fergus McCann regime.
It's a story than includes McCann, Jansen, Di Canio, Larsson, Moravcik and the Italian superstar who got away!
💪 The Battle To Save Celtic is a new mini-series by The Celtic Exchange marking 30 years since Fergus McCann's Takeover of Celtic in March 1994

I always liked Jock I thought he was an excellent commentator and when he went in at Celtic I thought he'd do well but the media slaughtered him, nothing changed there regarding our club, and after watching this I've got a lot more respect for him as he handled it all with humility and dignity. God bless him and his family and Hail Hail.

Brilliant, brilliant, brilliant. I read his book a few years ago. This, along with the Inner Sanctum book, gave me a lot of info about this period. Jock seems to have been unfairly vilified by a media with a clear agenda. Thanks for the great interview, and thanks to Jock for doing a good job in an exceptionally challenging situation.

Thanks Tino for another great interview. Jock came across as a person who seems to still have a genuine affection for the club. It brings back memories of all the constant negatively from the media towards Celtic while Rangers and David Murray could do no wrong. In the end the good guys won 🍀 .

Another fantastic show. Jock Brown was a much maligned (unfairly) man. The SMSM were absolutely disgraceful towards him and everyone at the club? Here we are 26 years later, and nothing has changed? As a Celtic fan, i would like to thank jock for his outstanding contribution to our club. Hail Hail

Great interview Tino. Archie mentions in one of his books how it was bizarre some Celtic fans thought Jock was a Rangers fan, he wasn't, in fact he had a serious dislike of them due to the signing policy they had in place for years. The media disliked him because as he mentions he never gave them any inside information on anything at the club. A positive aspect of the modern game is the written press have zero power, who buys a paper to find out what is going on at their club ?. Read Jocks book many years ago, well worth a read. Great series of interviews this 👍

if one positive came from social media it was the decline of traditional print media for fans to get their information. The media held sway considerably and Jock is right, if they wanted someone out they damn well could. I still remember Keevins (part of the old guard and the one who was burned by the Arthur George nonsense) calling people like the host "internet bampots" at that stage I knew these dinosaurs had very little time left.
