This was my first time visiting to The Battlefield Line and it was a great way to start February 2024! I have hear of it and seen many video of it with well- known steam loco's that had visit the line in the past. I was a bit weary about coming to this Gala due to public transport, but thanks to a fantastic bus shuttle from Nuneaton to Market Bosworth. I so glad that I went! Loco's that were running during the Gala were a couple of GWR Large Prairies. 4144, courtesy of the Great Western Society at Didcot and 5199 courtesy of the 5199 Project. There was also a BR standard Class 2 2-6-0 "78018" courtesy of Loughborough Standard Locomotives Group, Darlington Railway Preservation Society and the Great Central Railway. Originally, the new build GWR 6800 "Grange" No.6880 "Betton Grange" was going to make it's first appearance but sadly couldn't make it in time. So having 78018, the most recognisable Standard Class 2 2-6-0 was a good choice! During my visit, I found out that 5199 boiler certificate will expire at the end of February. So I was glad to have the chance to ride behind her before she goes out of traffic. There was also a special appearance of a BR Class 08 '08701". There was a shuttle from Shackerstone to Market Bosworth and due to no run round loop at Market Bosworth. 08701 help with shutting the coaches into the siding. The highlight of the Gala for me was seeing the Prairies double-heading a train with the W.L.S Special Name-board!
