The Battlefront: Classic Collection is a complete DISASTER! 

I don't understand why they didn't just give us more maps and characters on the most RECENT game... I'd pay for that, no doubt.

After the whole Kotor 2 debacle with Aspyr i am surprised people thought the collection would be any different.

Rather pay 30 bucks for a 20 year old game then 70 dollars for a triple a game that’s terrible

It’s smart in a way, they know they’ve sold a bunch of copies but the last thing they want to do now is have to support the multiplayer long term - that’s expensive and there would be 0 gain for them, so they make the multiplayer as poor as possible and a lot of players will leave. Minimal server costs and upkeep going forwards.

I’ve been playing it on the switch. It honestly feels like this game was made for switch first, then everything else, it runs smooth no bugs minus a few sound glitches from time to time and multiplayer on my SWITCH is fine, only lagged once in the 5 hours I did play and it was just one game.

This is definitely not the definitive way to play on console. That would be through back-compat on Series X.

This is, in fact, not the best way to play on Xbox, which is backwards compatible with the original Battlefront II. Which is vastly superior due to all the bugs in the re-release.

I was blown away by the Spyro, Shadow of Collosus, and Demon Souls remakes, they're practically whole new games. I don't know why companies think they can get away with reselling old games without putting in half as much effort into remastering them.

I mostly play single player on PS5 and I haven't had any issues except the occasional audio bug, which is more annoying than game breaking.

My only problem is that the matches are too short. Every match ends in like 3-5 min

Folks bought it up like hot cakes without a shadow of doubt on how the game would release and honestly I can't even blame the developers anymore its easy money

Idk about the other consoles or PC but on PS5 you can’t switch off inverted controls in space battles which doesn’t make any sense at all. Like how is that feature gone? This is a straight up port of both battlefront games which means everything should’ve been ported to the classic collection, so how tf is the ability to switch off inverted controls not there?? You could do that in the originals. Did they deliberately get rid of that feature??? WHY?!?!?☠️

I bought it on PS5 mainly for offline play, but the aiming is so poorly calibrated that it's a dealbreaker for the whole experience. Sniping is incredibly difficult, turning becomes extremely slow because of aim stickiness even as a Jedi, ships are very sluggish to control (and I think using the tow cable to bring down an AT-AT is flat-out impossible unless you max out the X-axis sensitivity), and it just feels wrong as a longtime console player of the Battlefront games.

Amazing how many companies are missing open goals and easy money by simply making functional games like Fallen Order.

I fell for all the hype. I never got to experience this game as a kid, and wanted to see what everyone was talking about. Over the past few days, I’ve still played EA/Dice’s Battlefront 2 more. I’m just more used to the gameplay and mechanics, and just haven’t been able to adjust to the old games. The current one is just more enjoyable to me.

Only reason I see to buy is for PlayStation and Switch. I can play the old version of the games for cheaper. If the multiplayer doesn’t work then why get it. The old version even gets the hero’s and maps for Xbox. It even has a slight graphics update

As a Xbox player, On launch multiplayer was completely unplayable during launch but its playing a lot smoother right now with over a dozen dedicated servers as of now and me and my brother were able to join each other in our own lobby as well if that helps anyone. They also raised the original 100 reinforcement count to 350 most likely because they realized the matches were going way too fast

BF2(2017) is the best and they need revive it by releasing new content. That game still looks graphically beautiful to me and runs great. It’s a damn shame they stopped supporting it

should have just overhauled new graphics on it and taken their time. Yes the look takes you back, but tbh with what we have now they could have charged more with better graphics and a WORKING game upon release.

Forget the multiplayer. The biggest crime they made was changing the loading screen sound for the OG battlefront

It's the exact same game but it costs more are people really buying this? I checked it's $15 cheaper to buy both the classic games separately

The Switch port is running very well in MY experience, but on the PS5 version I only experienced the hit detection problem together with some other minor issues, is bad, but I dont think its unplayable...

It’s also horrible on at least ps5, the controller sensitivity is awful, there’s no deadzone, and it just feels like actually horrible to aim, and that’s also because it doesn’t seem to have aim down sensitivity it seems to be the same which is just awful.

Star Wars Battlefront II (2017), outside of its pay to win release, was built from the ground up and had a stable release and was fully playable and IS a fun casual game. 2017's Battlefront was also built from the ground up, which makes the Battlefront Collection even more unacceptable in the state that Aspiyr launched these remasters in. I play on PS5, and from my experience playing the collection, the matchmaking at times crashes the application, and when I did get in matches there was bad netcode and latency between players. In the collection, Battlefront 1 runs ok, but Battlefront 2 was not optimized at all for its multiplayer. Someone tell me how Rise of the Empire and how it runs on 2 players, as I have yet to play it. The Battlefront Collection was suppose to be this golden opportunity to give console players the chance to play the multiplayer that many of us were not able to if you played on PS2.

The bugs in some of the maps in offline mode are awful, takes me out of the battlefront experience

I refunded my PC copy. If they fix the multiplayer and it still has a solid playerbase in a few months, I'll pick it up again. but I'd rather just buy something that works during the steam sale

With the BF2 (2017) launch and Kotor remake debacle I was not going to preorder or buy this at launch anyways. But when this didn’t even seem to be a proper remaster either, I had really low expectations. I expected some ruff edges in multiplayer 64 player lobbies on Switch cause it’s Switch. I also expect small or no changes to the outdated controls and hit boxes. They still managed to even under deliver on those expectation with multiplayer being trash across all platforms 😢.

Played online on ps5, the games are incredibly short, no aim assist whatsoever but those are minor. I played single player galactic conquest for no more then 2 full games before the game crashed twice. When the game didn’t crash my ship completely disappeared while the cpu moved around the map in circles never landing on a planet to start another match. I loved these growing up and I’m torn on getting a refund due to the hoops I’d have to jump through to get one as well as holding out on hoping it gets fixed……..2/10 easy, damn shame

I would like to point out that they also botched the single player because all of the victory cutscenes are just missing. I have to say after playing the original two games before this came out, they are fantastic game that work great. This collection broke both games and made them run worse and Hoth XL has a cavalcade of graphical issues on Instant Action.

Do have hope they’ll be able to fix it? How long do you think I should wait for them to fix the problems before I ask for a refund?

Imagine if they put the time and resources they used on this into Battlefront 2 (2017)

I feel like more people are playing bf2 some games are left to be untouched with this disaster off a copy paste port… (I like how on bf2 now u actually have good teammates heroes vs villains)

My idea is that Aspyr (love their other ports mostly) was used to their other Star Wars games having a grand total of 20 dudes on discord playing it and didn't think they'd need the server space

I'm on PS5 & it's a broken unplayable mess even in offline single player. In SWBF2 I couldn't even aim at max sensitivity cause it's way too slow along with an extreme amount of glitches. Still trying to get refund.

Sony won't give us refunds on PS5. I guess this game isn't considered faulty when the developer came out and said it's broken

Please represent us Split Screen enjoyers! I had my siblings over to play this with me, and we couldn't make it work. Not only is it limited to 2-Player Split Screen, but we weren't even able to sign in a second player on XB1. WE NEED 4 PLAYER SPLIT SCREEN! IT ISN'T ROCKET SCIENCE.

I hope the devs fix these issues, as of now they’re just disrespecting these 2 absolutely iconic games.

At least on Nintendo Switch, the ping was just terrible. Everyone is jumping around and freezing. I love how it's available on newer consoles, but I could never even think about purchasing for PC.

The XL mode impressed me. The amount of bots onscreen do turn any session into the large-scale, chaotic, all-out wars that you can't even experience on the newer Battlefronts!

I bought it this game purely for nostalgia for my PS5. I expected multi-player to be bad. My main problem is that there no option to invert my controller which is weird cause before my game fully downloaded. It had the option

In all my childhood, playing battlefront 2 on PS2 was the most fun I’ve had. I never had multiplayer besides screen split whenever I have a friend over. I’m always a single player kind of guy and wanted to feel nostalgic. But if they say this game has issues to play. Then I can wait when they fix it.

Got my money’s worth on PS5. Already finished the campaigns and will now play Bespin Platforms for the rest of my life when I’m bored.

Is it running well on ps4? Should i buy it?

I played it on my ps5 and it’s a disaster. Can’t get multiplayer to work, often freezes in the menu.. I last maybe 2 matches before the game freezes and I’m either booted from the game or I have to force quit the game myself due to more freezing. Not to mention each match lasts like 3 minutes. The missing cutscenes are outrageous. The audio problems also piss me off. I can’t hear the in-game announcers because they’re so quiet and the aiming feels so sticky and weird it’s so difficult to play. I’m honestly shocked with how bad this game is. I didn’t think it was possible to make a 2005 game worse in 2024.

I’m a single player type of guy but I noticed the ai’s act smarter in the classic collection than in the older ones. I was so excited to try the online for the first time because I was to interested in the single player, so since online is us playable it’s just unfortunate and why why why. I play on Xbox series x and my single player games get buggy especially on galactic conquest attacked a planet won and it was still red. Please please fix game I love love Star Wars battlefront.

I played the original bf2 as a kid, but never got to play it online on official servers. I do not feel cheated, and the multiplayer does work, just not very well. I think they should fix the multiplayer, and possibly adjust the mechanics around aiming because it feels too dated. I dont remember it (the aim mechanics) being that bad on ps2. The way they are now with zero aim assist in dedicated servers makes it impossible to reliably aim. I am a little surprised that mouse and keyboard support was not an option for consoles either. Crossplay would be dope, but unless they smooth out the acceleration curve on controller theres no way crossplay with consoles vs pc would be playable.

There’s a weird controller bug on BF2 that makes my controller drift and its definitely the game because it doesn’t happen on the original version

Is the game worth it? Depends on what you want to get out of it, but for Switch and PlayStation it strikes me as a solid purchase. Xbox and PC I would wait to see if the online gets fixed. I got this for Switch and am very happy with my purchase. The online hasn’t been great, but that’s only a small part of why I wanted to get it for Switch

Nevermind this train wreck of a release and the eventual release of the open world SW game that has no Jedi/Sith. Why not make an inFamous style game in the Star Wars universe where your morality scale leads you to be a Jedi or Sith depending on your decisions/actions.

I bought the game on Xbox series S primarily for the multiplayer as I imagine most of everyone who owns the originals did. And the multiplayer does not work. The game crashes when looking for a lobby. Refunded the game today. Hope this didn’t happen with anyone else

I own BF 2 on Steam. The Remastered Mod makes the Elite Difficulty, actually a tough challenge. However, i saw this on the Steam homepage and paid $35 for it. In hopes to play it when i have more time. Just 1 day of being released and over 4,300 negative reviews. All of them complaining about the multiplayer. Which i get being an early day release. All i care about is having more units per team. The originals had a cap of 16 and then Remastered mod doubles it. Even Minecraft can handle a thousand entities with hardly any issues.

The game is a mess on PS5. The sensitivity is all over the place and its so hard to aim. Its not like this on the old version i play on xbox

Personally I'm on the Series X and I have played the old Ps2 Version. Personally, I haven't encountered many issues with the game in terms of graphics or whatnot except for some Ai being dumb and or a Walker on hoth glitching a little. Really, I think if you're on PC, just get the older versions if you really want to or get it if you want to just have both as crazy as that sounds in case of a upswing in support down the line. For Console, I would actually say to get it if you have a modern console and want better graphics. Personally, I think that the collection isn't bad for single player experiences BUT I think they need to just overhaul the Multiplayer globally for the game.

Battlefront has the chance of being the greatest AAA FPS game ever. But its like every company is afraid of the challenge. Somehow there needs to be a translation of these classics into BF2 (2017), which ended being good but could’ve been even better.

So this is the MCC disaster for Star Wars fans. Kinda bummed about this one because i definitely want to play this as I never got to experience classic battlefront.

Multiplayer on Xbox is pretty laggy for me, some players just like teleporting everywhere. Single player is fun though

I have been playing the 2005 steam battlefront 2 modded. You can really make the older one look remastered. There are some great tutorials on RU-vid to replace textures and models.

What I can't get over is how it's 70 friggin GB. It's a 20 year old game, how on earth is it that size??

The original battlefronts never ran on my pc correctly and am not interested in multiplayer. Aside from the missing campaign cutscenes im happy with the game

Tried playing it on switch and couldn’t even get to the menu of either game. Nightdive should take over for ports and remasters since they did a good job with dark forces

Joining games was tough, but I got in a 64 player game that had the reinforcements up to 350 and had a blast playing lag wasn't bad. My friends couldn't join me though, their screens would time out. They ended up in other servers and gave up trying to join me. Yes some servers have the tickets way to low. You can tell people that never played the game set a lot of the aspyer servers up. The map orders were running same map back to back different eras. Which is the idiotic thing the 2018 BF2 servers do too. No one wants to play the same map twice in a row ever.

All good on the Xbox One, there is some rubber banding on BF2 multiplayer and then sometimes there is no dialogue from characters on the battlefield BUT BF1 multiplayer is a freaking blast! Aspyr is also working on the bugs too, I did see a post about it earlier this evening.

The balance update on the Xbox version is a disappointment for me. The nerfed starfighters are not welcome. Removing the x wing from plains and making it nerfed was a bad call.

As long as single player works for Switch I'm good. I have them on PS2 also but it's a pain in the ass to hook it on to my modern TV and make it look decent

The Battlefront 3 curse is back!

I play on PlayStation 5 and this game is basically unplayable. Jittery is terrible and it takes me like 15 minutes trying to find a game. I have 4 friends that play with me and they all say the same thing. Also my screen spazzes out like you said and it’s so annoying.

Online is stupid and hitmark is insane.

Ps4 player. Zero servers last night for BF2! There were servers on BF1 but there were bugs. Slow slow slow! Also kept 3rd person perspective but it kept switching back and forth to 1st person on its own

People on Xbox Game pass have had all this “new” content. Such as Kit Fisto and all the maps having assault mode so yeah glad i saved my money

I disagree the multiplayer and everything has been working completely fine for me at least on xbox been playing multiplayer none stop since it came out my only complaint was that conquest matches were too short cause they were only 100 tickets each team now there 350 tickets

Space battles are still annoying. Landing a shuttle is janky still and ai will take off and crash leaving you in the spawn screen

Considering I have no interest in the online aspect... I'm having a blast!!! But hope you all get your online multiplayer aspect fixed
