Being that the Smile Sessions version of H&V was the first one I listened to, it's my #1 favorite and my brain doesn't really like too much change; however, I really enjoyed the effort of this one and it's one of the best mixes I've heard. That Cabinessance mix though, fantastic! I had to go back and listen to it again, lol, I actually like this mix better. Regarding H&V again, no wonder Brian had a hard time putting this album together, just that song alone warrants so many different variations, it's fascinating.
Holy shit... just when i thought every idea had been exhausted... this is fucking great, please tell me you will do more mixes of smile tracks, these arrangments are fantastic
FUCK!!! I was hoping to get my good headsets back before I listened to this. I understood what you did and I must say you did a great job. I have no words to describe how much I enjoyed it. Great job indeed
Cabin Essence sends me to another world, it's both captivating and frightening, it's like a girl you love but know you'll never have - hauntingly beautiful. And the song is about what? American expansion, transcontinental railroads and the Chinese labourers who are building them. It's just genius
Wow your sequencing of the three score and five section/ending are so ingenious! I can’t believe I never thought of those myself! Excellent mix as always!
what is the avant-garde section with the weird part drum/part tape crashing called at 3:06, reminds me a lot of what bands like Can and Faust would do in the 70s
Once the full Album is uploaded, reply to this alright? Fucking love fan projects like this, and this is by far one of the most complete and interesting I’ve heard.
Regarding H&Vs I think with the laugh, the chanting and the creepy ending, it would have been considered too satanic for it to become popular and a number #1 at the time. I don't intend to put it or you down, because I absolutely love it, it's just a thought of mine
It's so interesting to see it as a series of 'heroes and villains' scales. Like an instance follows an interval. Robin Williams did it with words; Brian Wilson does it by assembling the melodies of western music. That sure enough blurs the edges between here and then, heroes and villains.
Listened to the heroes and villains single and the CompLete Cabinessence (I'm a patron sub) as part of a custom SMiLE track list I have while on shrooms, let me tell you, this shit was wonderful
I don’t know how I feel about H&V, just because it’s my first time hearing your version, and a lot of your sequences were unexpected and because of that, dissonant. That’s not a bad thing though, it’s just gonna have to take my brain multiple listens to really expect all those twists and turns. Is this H&V mix going to be on your Smile mix? Also you should totally release your mix of Wind chimes for your Smile project. Also-also, is that a kazoo that you added personally around 2:50?
This is not gonna be on the album, this is the single version. The album version is going to have two parts. I might release wind chimes, I haven't decided. I'm not sure about the kazoo, it sounds like it but I'm pretty sure it's an artificial vocal because I got it from SMiLE A.D.
@@Anonymuse_ Oh gotcha, 2 parts? Thats awesome! If you could I would really love if you did end up posting Wind Chimes. It’s such a cool song! Although I’ll be just as pleased if you don’t, gives it more hype for the actual Smile mix! Also oh interesting, I’ve never actually heard Smile A.D. do you have a download link for it? I’m having trouble finding it online.
I'll send you a link: drive.google.com/drive/folders/1C4ykym62iiTvKy-hwokyeKmPQ1VDYLNf?usp=sharing There are like four different versions of the A.D. mix and I don't know which one this is but this is the one I have.
The competition ended in 66, and Sgt Pepper in 67 was the ko...This follow-up to Good Vibrations was viewed at the time as a disaster. The downward spiral accelerated until 74 with a best-of album...Endless Summer.
3rd Verse "Shall be Peace in the Valley" there doesn't seem to be isolated vocals of this lyric. Is there any explanation as to why? Simply missing tape? And has anyone had luck in separating the vocals from the backing track? Recently, AI programs have become more sophisticated with vocal separation, but I haven't had much success. Love to hear your thoughts. Your previous Canin Essence mix was one of the best.
Likely missing tape. Pretty much all pre-1967 work on Heroes and Villains is missing (Brian and Mike’s original lead vocals, the original backing vocals, the “three score and five” lyric, etc). I can’t say exactly when the “Peace In The Valley” lyric was recorded, but I wouldn’t be surprised if it’s part of those missing tapes.
@@gwaunch1967 MonotoneTim has an interesting mix of Heroes and Villains. Chorus 3 mixed with hand claps. H&V pt 1 & 2 I prefer the "muddier" sound. The "ahhh" backing vocals verses sound distracting even on the original Smiley Smile mix. I'm interested in trying to match "Peace in the Valley" to H&V pt 1 mix.
@@gwaunch1967I've read that the Peace in the Valley section, was erased from the Multitrack. Lots of Mixes, Takes, Overdubs and Insert of Post Pet Sounds/Pre and Post SMiLE were destroyed/lost or erased.
Nice Mix, Man! I would like to colaborate with you on the Project. I'm working on a Stereo Mix of Good Vibrations and it's 95% complete, if you're interested. Greetings from Argentina!
Yeah I would like to check it out, I was working on a stereo mix of GV but I put it on hold because I wasn't satisfied with it. I think my mail is on my channel, you can contact me there.
I am also going to do that, but I was just trying to stereo mix the single version and I am still not happy with how it turned out because the damn Acapella track doesn't exist.
