I would give the last wave, with the board swipe, to board transfer, to pulling in his own board after the transfer to finishing off the wave with a Dolphin as the RIDE OF THE YEAR. WSL needs to acknowledge this legendary ride.

Worst nightmare. I’d rather ride a log in ankle high shore break than deal with that dystopia.

I'm a local, and the last time I went out at Snapper, I got 3 waves in 3 hours, and two of them were ruined by drop-ins. That was 8 years ago, and I'm never going back, Drop-ins should be hounded out of the surf! We've got to stamp out this shit.

It's on the gold coast QLD a tourist hole, so you have the locals and loads of tourist going for the same wave "it's the asshole surfing competition of Australia".

This looks like I would need to wear protective gear and a helmet against human attacks. I have tried surfing out and love it but this is actually the one point I am critical if I should even get in with so much gate keeping, agressive behaviour.

If you came down to the beach, checked the surf, saw how crowded it was, and still went out there then you deserve a board in the head. These are the sort of guys who then go to the pub and brag about being a soul surfer.

Why do people even bother when it’s this crowded? The whole experience of surfing should be calm, and then fun once you catch a wave. If I see more than 5-10 people in the water I dont bother. This just ruins what surfing should be about

With the ever growing popularity of surfing, this will only get worse as time goes on. I go to less popular spots (and lower quality waves) just to avoid this kind of stuff. Spots around here that over the past 40 years or so, have never had more than 10-15 peeps out at once, carry 60-70 now during a mediocre swell. Makes it kind of not fun, so I can sacrifice some wave quality for some solitude in the surf.

I respect the Rules, but never the intolerance of the "locals", who thinks they own the spot.

This is why the 70's will forever be the best decade of surfing. The 60's crowd had died off, the sport wasn't popular and the surfboard and wetsuit technology was fundamentally the same as now, but less wetsuit sizes. My brother and I often had the waves to ourselves even on the weekends.
