Seeing the characters back in season 1 I wouldn’t have thought there would be an episode in which I’m whole heartedly supporting Richie above anyone else.
The last episode and this one really speak to how the coin has flipped: the pilot shows Carmy just barely managing to cook something to sell at the Beef while everyone else working there Richy particularly are just insisting uphill against a beleaguered Carmy; now Carmy’s caught in a not dissimilar fugue state working uphill against people who care about him after he turned their perspective around and are all working for better Also amazing reversal for Syd to be so protective of Tina, intercepting Carmy before he can rag on her

What’s awesome is that Carmy is the one chewing him out and Richy is the one keeping the criticism buttoned and civilized, unlike _Hands_ in the season 1 where’s raving, “what is wrong with you fugging jagoffs?!?!”

I genuinely believe that Carmy was self destructive this entire season, and Ritchie was right, he was taking all of the negativity he was feeling and making everyone else feel the same way, because misery loves company.
I love how compulsively juvenile Carmy got when Cicero complained about the super soakers: “RiChY!RiChY! iDiOt!! RiCh!!” … to speak to the narcissism Donna polluted him with, he tripled down on Jimmy’s complaint so he wouldn’t have to confront Nat’s legit point about his own ingredient consumption Last episode and the long service montage of this episode are great cardio machine viewing
@@hellfish2309 it also falls in line with the history of addiction in Berzatto family. Donna is an alcoholic, Michael was addicted to painkillers, Carmen is addicted to stress. I know that like an odd thing to be addicted to but that does happen to people who suffer trauma.
The order slip on the floor was to show that the table had only gotten 3 of the 9 courses and they’re an hour behind. They showed a shot of the clock as it turns 11pm and the last dish (course 2) that was served on that order slip was at 9:59. So they’re way behind.
In my opinion, this episode was even more intense than Review and Fishes because there was just no stopping the intensity. It just kept going and going and there was simply no breaks. I’m pretty sure I hate the word “doors” now because I’m forever scarred and traumatized because of the hell that was unleashed over here 😭

I'm so angry with carmy. His behavior was sooo unacceptable and callous. He has to fail it feels like in order to see himself. Unfortunate. He is his mother now.
He took the functioning restaurant that Syd was running while he was away and made changes without consulting the other owners, and turned the place into turmoil.

Loved your reaction as always. You should check out society of the snow. It's a great movie and I would love to hear what you have to say about that one. If you do watch it I recommend the original language with subtitles, the acting was amazing
In the movie Burnt they say that the Michelin inspectors will do things like drop forks on the ground to see if the servers will notice. I'm curious if that's what they were trying to show there, that could've been the Tribune reviewer
My tin hat theory is that someone was stealing the fork. You hear it fall, then Richie turns around and has a very mad look. The fork fell out when the purse fell.
Nah I think it's just showing how Richie appreciates attention to detail now and how just one utensil being on the ground doesn't get by him. The purse on the floor will be called back in the next episode or 2. I won't spoil it
Like Marcus I was raised by a single mom who fought cancer when I was 14 and passed away when I was 24. We only had each other to lean on. So I know exactly what Marcus is feeling. Which is why I really don’t like that the showrunner never had a scene in this season where Marcus actually truly broke down. I know everyone handles grief and loss in their own way, but honestly he just looks like he had lost a job or was told he was evicted from his apartment, not that he lost the most important person in his life.
@@THESERIOUSKNOB if the plan was to have that trauma sneak up on him then that is terrible writing. The reason I fell in love with this show is because the characters all felt believable and real, Marcus just looking bummed out is NOT believable at all.
@@thedarkknight2221 I think it is. He even said as much to Carmy. He's learning the wrong lesson and bottling it up, distracting himself with his work. I think a breakdown at the end of S3 would have been great to pay that off, but I'm worried the show is going to ignore it going forward.

Season three is...okay. But it isnt NEARLY as good as the other two seasons. It sucks to see such a drop in quality after the first two seasons were so good.
I don’t care if I’m the only person team Carmy but I don’t see what was wrong with him telling Tina to recook the food. Then if it isn’t cooked properly the dish gets sent back and that’s on them. Then what? Richie is also just so wrong to me this season. Why does he not feel like he owes Carmy an apology as well. He’s talking about there needs to be joy but then he antagonizes Carmy every time they’re in a room together.
The issue here is not Carmy wanting a refire, but him creating an insane atmosphere where no one can works properly This whole thing is happening because after breaking up with his girlfriend, he freaked out, went into psycho mode and decided that from this moment onwards they are going to have “non-negotiables”. While doing so, he hasn't consulted a single other person, including the people who are supposed to be his partners and then proceeded to scream at everyone who tried to discuss this insanity. It's not okay

Second of all partners require contacts and the only two people who actually signed anything to my knowledge is there Uncle and Sugar. Therefore if you’re referring to Sydney being a partner she technically gets no say. Why is it that Marcus is on board with Carmy but everybody else can’t seem to follow? Yall give all these other characters grace and not Carmy. The non- negotiables aren’t crazy. If they can’t get the simple non negotiables done that he made of course there are going to be issues.

Marcus is on board because he is too busy dealing with his grief and he trusts Carmy to think for him. I get that, Carmy is inspiring, but he also judges everything by his psycho mode when he denies himself any joys of actually living and focuses on doing his job at 150%. First, it's not healthy (Carmy is both not happy or stable right now and that's why Sydney has to be his nanny now), second, not everyone is capable of doing that and third, not everyone has enough of a talent to keep up. Carmy does not consider any of that and defaults to screaming at everyone, which, again, Sydney has to fix I agree that Carmy is not THE ONLY ONE who is messing up, but the way he puts his opinions on executive decisions above others' and then refuses to hear their input is not okay (cue him never consulting his partner on writing non-negotiables or their contents). I am not saying that Carmy is a bad person I do not understand or that everything is his fault, but currently he is the one putting this train on rails to failure, and not because of how awful or bad he is, but because he is trying to protect himself from the world. Which, again, I get, but no, it's also not helping
@@not_llike_that His non negotiables are simple. The only thing that you could really argue about is him changing the menu everyday which is a waste of money. I think y’all expect Carmy to grow at a pace of others just because they grew at a certain pace. Unc and Sugar know how to deal with Carmys crazy so it can’t be that crazy and I personally don’t think Claire has anything to do with the way Carmy is acting. All of this stems from that chef. It doesn’t matter though. My initial statement was about people being upset that he made Tina recook the food which I didn’t have a problem with. I also think Richie is out of line for the way he talks to Carmy and owes him just as much of an apology but other people don’t seem to think so.
does it get better after this episode? i watched the first three episodes when s3 was dropped but I feel like so far all three are very repetitive and just exhausting so I stopped watching. Does the story really move forward in the next episodes?
@@EdenMcCoy-rt9hp I binged watch season 1 and 2, then watched the first 3 episodes of season 3 when it came out. I know the episodes are different, I guess I didn't know how to word it. I guess I'm getting tired of Carmy, there's things going on with him that are repetitive and back and forth. The writing in S1 and S2 are superb, so far I'm not impressed with the first episodes of S3 that I've watched. Like the other comment said it must be the pacing as well.
Maybe, but that’s a only a rumored gimmick of the Michelin guide, which is not to say a critic has never done it I think it speaks to a motif for Richy and his episode last season
@@pryex8565 sure yeah, but point being that the camera is feeding it to us because it’s on Richy’s radar and is significant to that character; regardless of how it got there, Richy’s attentiveness to it is the point
