My favorite part of this video, is the mistakes. Thanks for reminding us that we are all human. It’s easy to get discouraged when you’re learning and material is wasted! I just subscribed to your channel! 🖤
Ya know what? I watched the XTOOL livestream last night. Well suffice it to say, I now have an 10 watt XTOOL D1 with enclosure and honeycomb panel for sale. I bought the 40 watt S1 that comes with the fancy air assist and honeycomb panel by the time the livestream was over. And best of all, these units are IN STOCK, for immediate delivery in the US! I can hardly wait.
Matt what an awesome overview! I aspire to have my production value at your level one day. Not sure if it’s just my browser or not but at minute 5:30 in the video it seems something got jumbled in the edit. I know the pain of a re-upload but maybe just the RU-vid editor can allow you to clip that spot.
Chad thank you so much for the kind words! It means a lot! Oh my gosh…. That would be premiere 😥 I will do the RU-vid editor thank you for letting me know, I don’t know how I missed this
Great video! I have the M1 and enjoy it, but the new features in the S1 are really cool. Looking forward to seeing more projects with this machine. If possible can you mention the time a project takes. Thanks.
Any issues with glue ups after cutting pieces with a laser? For instance if I cut a bunch of box joints would glue them together be compromised in any way? Can't wait to get mine!
I was very interested in the S1 until recently, when I began seeing reports from D1 and D1 Pro owners that replacement parts are no longer available for those machines, and you can no longer purchase modules for them, other than the $1,200 40w module for the D1 Pro. Given the fact that xTool was heavily promoting those machines less than a year ago, this is VERY concerning. In my opinion, a tool or an electronic component at this price-point should have more than 1 or 2 years of support from the manufacturer. I would be outraged if I spent more than $1,000 and was told I own a paper-weight after a year or two. After learning how limited their support is, I have crossed xTool off my list of contenders.
Hi CC, thanks for the review; I enjoyed watching it. You were talking about the link to the test file, I might have missed it but I could not find it in the description. Thank you in advance for sharing. Cheers, Jeroen
What is the paper an the purpose you had on the acrylic? I didn't think the S1 would cut acrylic (or maybe It says only dark acrylic), but it looks like you were able to. Never used a laser before, but considering getting one. Thanks!
Hi, I appreciate your video! I'm trying to mass produce little wooden hangers with 3 holes. do you teach? Would this be the right tool for me do you think? Thanks
Hello, could you help me? I have the Xtool S1 40W, and when engraving a tumbler, it stretches the image towards the sides and I struggle a lot to center it. When I align it, the laser moves to another place or the RA2 rotates the tumbler.
Hey there! Do you have Facebook? I promise the S1 facebook group will answer that question almost immediately. It sounds like the proper settings isn't inputted.
How big a tumbler can this laser do with the riser? Specifically, it is big enough for the 30oz tumblers (4.12 inch diameter), or the big Stanley tumblers with the handle?
I have the XT F1 and it shows a preview of exactly where it's going to go like an outline and then it actually shows the preview. Does this not do that?
This does not... the f1 does this because it uses a galvonometer rather than a rail system... this means the f1 uses a set of mirrors to quickly move the laser around.
@@sheltoncherry2366 From what I've seen, if you're cutting through the material without using the honeycomb, it will likely mark the floor. For cutting you should definitely use the honeycomb, the thickness of the honeycomb will make it so that when the layer strikes the floor below it (in the gaps), it won't be in focus enough to mark the floor. In another review, the reviewer actually used the laser to draw an alignment pattern on the floor so he could use that for alignment when just engraving.
Hi can I ask a question? Since u have the P2 & in the S1 also which one of the two is the best to purchase? P2 or S1. Can the P2 cut metal? Thank for u’r time responding to my ?, much appreciated. 😊
Hey there! Great question. The P2 or S1 is not able to cut metal. I would advise you to look at your needs. The best laser is the one that fits your needs, your lifestyle, and the projects you are making. The P2 is a production workhorse and can handle a wide range of material cutting and engraving. The S1 can do the same, but with the option to have the IR module for metal. If you watch my video from 4 weeks ago, I give info that will help you decide :) you won’t go wrong with either one.
The S1 is an amazing machine. The IR is used for engraving on metal, plastic, acrylic and stuff like leather. It basically allows you to do stuff the blue light diode won’t allow you too
@@CorneliusCreationsYour video shows you engraving leather with the 40W though. Is the IR just better (cuz the 40W seemed to do really well) or are there different types of leather the 40W won't do?
@@WeaponStencils Diobe lasers absorb leather better than IR, so they are generally used to engrave leather. As to whether 40W can't engrave different types of leather, this is generally not a special limitation.
I can understand your hesitation. Cameras are awesome to have, this positioning system still makes it extremely easy to use. Have you compared this to the P2?
@@CorneliusCreations honestly been going back and forth about which laser to get the past couple of days. For me stuff like this is a bit easy to do. But I’m thinking of my not so tech savvy wife. As well as this would be our first laser and looking into starting another side hustle. Too many options. Was looking at the fact that I can add the ir module so she can engrave jewelry. And so I can have a larger work service for wood projects or batch processing patches.
@@CorneliusCreationsthe F1 was a thought. But then plans changed and we decided to start a boys hat and apparel company 😂. Going back I wish I would have just went with the S1. Because we went with the M1 because of the camera and the ability to cut vinyl. The camera is not so great. Doesn’t actually line things up correctly.
Just un-packed my new xTool S1 with the complete bundle. Assembled it as required. One thing I am HIGHLY PISSED at is the sentence in the setup manual that says, "optional accessories---Air Assist." In setup it says do not use until you have Air Assist. WHAT IN THE HELL xTool. NOT COOL........
Based on how every youtuber reviews things, every laser cutter brand and model has "cornered the market". It's a tell-tale sign of a paid review, whether the review is honest or not.
Yeah, he talks a good game, but he never tells you how shitty their customer service. They give you the runaround, lack the ability to understand basic English. I have an S1 with the rotary attachment, and the rotary attachment is junk. It doesn’t work. I basically been given the runaround.
Yes, but on Oct 22nd, the price goes up $200… there’s a countdown on their site showing this. This is so wrong on so many levels, and XTool is pretty much lying and tricking people into making this purchase. Granted, it’s only $200, but the principles behind this type of marketing are just wrong!
does the 20W version cut through 3-6mm+ wood nicely like teh website suggests?? im just about to order it but i barely see any cutting tests of teh S1 out there and getting me nervous to buy... all cuts are so thin at only 3mm...
The 20W will handle that cutting with ease. They are powerhouse machines. I think people do 3mm cutting just to show you the accuracy and cut test. They will handle a lot more.
I am honestly thinking of getting the S1 and selling my D1 Pro with extension kit. The S1 just seems like a cleaner setup (less hassle also) and actually with pass through can run even larger sheets. Thank you for this video and appreciate that you also show settings that you used.
Before pulling the trigger, you might want to check out the parts and module availability for your D1 Pro. I have been told by a few people they cannot get replacement parts or modules for the D1, only the 40w is available for the D1 Pro, and it has been this way for months, they say. The service life & tech support would be a big consideration for me before investing further in xTool products... even if your D1 Pro is still working fine.
@@Metal_Vistas Support has been hit and miss thus far for me and they do seem to favor certain countries.. but i wish to not get into that, lol. I have decided to stick with my D1 Pro 20W but may look at their F1 in the future. I also have an Elegoo Phecda which really is it's early stages.. Thank you anyhow for advice.
@@Metal_Vistas Is the overall customer service poor? ty...Just now researching all the laser products for a small home business. any suggestions, much appreciated! ty
Hello I appreciate you posting this I don’t know how often you check your comments but for your leather after engraving smear black or whatever color liquid paint you want and it should give you close to what you want it to look like
Nicw video! Just wondering if this would be worth the money since I have the D1 Pro 40 watt with the xTool 1064nm Infrared Laser Module for D1 Pro machine. I have the premium with the Air assist, honeycomb, etc. I have everything possible to purchase for the D1 Pro. I'm not sure that it would be anything I need. I also purchased the Laser Pecker 4 premium package as well. Any thoughts?
You already have a wonderful setup and are invested well. If anything to add to your arsenal would be a C02 laser if you were to do a lot of production stuff. I think I would hang on to what you have!
I'm a little confused on the rotary attachment. You said it was the RA2 rotary attachment, but when I look on xTool's website, when they show the bundles it looks like the RA2 attachment they show is the one with the chuck to hold the material not the rollers. Is the roller one the one they actually send? I *think* I'd like the chuck one better, but I've never done rotary lasering (yet).
Hey Chris! So the RA2 pro rotary attachment comes with BOTH the jaw chuck and the rollers. I made a video about a year ago showing it if you’d like to check it out. The picture you see probably is just with the jaw chuck attached.
@CorneliusCreations Thank you again and I saw just saw the comment in Facebook and luckily I emailed that exact same person. Hopefully I'll hear from them soon
Hello, you should say (if they told you at all) that all the promotions staff is applicable for US ONLY. It does not apply to Europeans it seems. The Air assist and honeycomb are not free at all. For the 20w, the EU price to have these is €1699 ($1800) while for US it's $1599. Thank you but no thank you.
Thanks for the great video. So buy purchasing the $800 air filter, will this eliminate they need for any additional ventilation ( I’m looking to use this inside of a small room).
Glad you enjoyed it! The smoke purifier is a great investment for small rooms with no ventilation. I’d you do plan to use constantly I do recommend a ventilation for economical reasons.
