Love the Beatles, still think you should do The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly... Why are they running after them? Well this was the height of Beatlemania, and this was why the Beatles stopped touring, the audience wasn't listening any more, they just screamed.

I saw this movie when it first came out and my friends brother was the manager of the local movie theater, for my friends birthday we saw this film and we sat in the first row and the older girls next to me were on their knees crying, shouting and pulling their hair!. I was 9 and didnt quite know what to make of all that......

My older 13-year-old sister was The Big Beatles Fan in the family. My dad took the family to the local movie drive-in, and we saw the film from the back of the pickup bed, tailgate down, absolutely memorably times. The film was directed by American Richard Lester, though there were earlier Rock n' Roll films, this film representation was a precedent to popular music in film and tv afterwards. :)

Such a simple song, yet brilliant. The guitar work, drumming, bass, and the amazing harmonies. The Beatles can get more with a single chord than most bands with all the tech they throw at it.

All those girls chasing them came to be known as Beatlemania. In fact when they came to the U.S. The airport was overrun with tens of thousands of girls lining the terminal roof , the arrival lounge out on the Tarmac, They lined the road leaving the airport and going to their hotel where they had one whole floor reserved for them and the floor above and below were also reserved and filled with security.

"Why are they running?" I'm reminded of an episode of the Dick Van Dyke Show (from 1965) which dealt with this theme. The musicians were played by the singing duo Chad and Jeremy (A Summer Song, Yesterday's Gone, Can't Get Used To Losing You). Note: I actually remember these songs from 60 years ago, my God but I'm old.

WHY do so many people who comment on You Tube refer to the fainting, screaming, crying female fans as "WOMEN" It wasn' t WOMEN (which then was any female OVER 21 and UP) it was us teenage GIRLS, and girls under the age of 12, even as young as 7!!! WOMEN did not respond to the Beatles that way. MOST adult women and men, didn't approve or like the Beatles at that time and were appalled by their teen and younger daughters (and sons) who were crazy over the Beatles . I was one of those screaming fans back in 1964 when I was 16/17 years old. LOL ( I am STILL a die hard fan today, and always WILL be)

The fans chasing The Beatles everywhere is actually a tamed down version of what it was really like for them. The teenaged girls screamed non-stop until they fainted by the scores whenever The Beatles made an appearance. Hordes of police were required to hold back the fans, who would still break through the blockades and run after them. At a Beatles concert, the only audible sound was that of tens of thousands of teenage girls screaming at the top of their lungs for the entire time they were on the stage. That's why it was called BEATLEMANIA!!

Beatlemania was real. Our best effort to outdo the boys from across the pond during that time was the Beach Boys. It wasn't uncommon for any or all of them to have their shirts ripped off just trying to get to their limos after a concert. 🤣

I always loved the cowbell in that song. To live in that time, as I did, and witness the craziness of Beatlemania was a very unique experience. I cannot think of any other artist who caused such a stir except for Elvis Presley. And even he didn't have the following that the Beatles did. Elvis was mainly idolized by girls. Teenage boys and girls were hit by Beatlemania. It was a completely different world. I really liked the fashion. It was called the Mod look. I wish that I could go back and live it again.

Paul McCartney was once asked if the girls' screams ever bothered him, especially in concert in which the screams would drown out an airplane flying overhead! He said not at all. To him, it was the female equivalent of guys cheering on their favorite soccer team: "YEAAAAH!!!" Anyway, great reaction! The entire Hard Day's Night movie is a fun movie to watch.

Beatles Fans. especially Women and Teens went nuts over them, Crying, screaming, passing out etc. My Dad took my 2 Older Brothers to a Concert in Toronto, which wasn't Cheap and when he got home, he was Mad, as The Fanatics just screamed through the whole concert, basically drowning out the Show, this was in 1965

NOT "women" Just us teenage girls, and preteen girls and some female children. We weren't considered "women" then until we reached the age of 21. Most ADULT WOMEN would not be screaming, crying and running after the Beatles. I was 16/17 in 1964 and was (and still AM at 77 now) a die hard Beatles fan.

Check out the opening chord. That chord is a result of four instruments playing different parts together. The Beatles wanted the opening to be something totally unique and fresh. So they came up with this chord which puzzeled musicians for decades. Oh, and the song itself was written upon request from the film producer. The title had to be the tite of the movie - Hard Days Night. The next day John and Paul came in with the song we just listened to.

Title tune to the first movie, directed by Richard Lester. Ringo supposedly came up with the title. Liverpudlian Alun Owen wrote the screenplay. Wilfrid Brambell played Paul's grandfather. It is one of John Lennon's tough, hard-driving love ballads. The Beatlemania period at its height.

Group were put in a very dangerous situation in the Philippines in 1966 when Ferdinand Marcos withdrew concert security due to a perceived slight. In friendlier incidents, the band were mobbed by fans elsewhere; "The Beatles In Cleveland" is a good read, with details of the notorious August 1966 Municipal Stadium near-riot. Group began to hate touring, and gave it up for the recording studio at the end of that year.

I was at BOTH CLEVELAND Beatles' concerts on Sept. 15, 1964 when I was 17, and again on Aug 14, 1966 when I was 19. "The Beatles in Cleveland" book by David Schwensen covers BOTH Cleveland concerts.......BOTH concerts were stopped, (the 1964 one in Cleveland's Public Auditorium and 1966 as you said in Cleveland Municipal Stadium.), by officials because of the fans reactions. After 15 to 20 minutes the Beatles were allowed to complete the show, but were removed from the stage while the "officials" tried to settle things down. They didn't come here to Cleveland during their 1965 tour because our MAYOR BANNED them after the incident at the 1964 concert.

It was supposed to be Paul's granddad, played by Wilfred Brambell, who at the time, was the star of the British sit-com "STEPTOE AND SON." Soon after in the '70s the AMERICAN sit-com "SANFORD and SON" starring Redd Foxx, was based on the British "Steptoe and Son."

we have a lot in common. i'm a juiliard trained debt collector. any one who refuses to pay juilliard trained opera singers - i break their legs. "a hard day's night" is a unique r&r film in many ways. its the first r&r movie, besides elvis films, where the performers were allowed actual dialogue. they didn't share the screen with other r&r acts. and, unlike elvis, they basically played themsewlves where elvis played fictional characters. you'll notice the word "beatles" is NEVER mentioned in the film. they're never called the beatles until the final concert scene where "the beatles" is blazoned in lights behind them. richard lester, the director, was an american who directed a couple of comedy shorts for the british comedy troup "the goons." which, coincidentally, george martin, the beatles record producer, produced comedy albums for the goons before he met the beatles. lester went on to direct the beatles' 2nd film "help!" the following year, in 1966 lester directed the film based on the broadway musical comedy "a funny thing happened on the way to the forum." it includes the same fresh and silly sight gags lester used in his beatles' films. ITS AN EXCELLENT FILM! lester went on to direct what's considered by critics to be the 2 BEST musketeer films that are classics in their own right. "the three musketeers" (1973) and its sequel "the four musketeers" (1974). both with all-star casts and full of humor and suspense. thanks for the video.

It was nominated for 2 Academy Awards, was a critical and financial success, critics were ready to pan the film and to their surprise they LOVED it. It was nothing like the other "teen" rock and roll movies that were made at the time . In 2004, TIME magazine rated it as one of the 100 all-time great films. TCM shows "A Hard Day's Night frequently on their cable channel, and I have also watched it on other movie channels as well. The DVD of it still sells well. In 1999 the British Film Institute ranked "A Hard Day's Night" as the 88th greatest British film of the 20th century. The movie critic Roger Ebert (RIP) of "Siskel and Ebert" fame, TV show , were both Movie critics who would talk about recent films and classic films on their TV show (they even did an entire show on all 4 Beatles' movies, which I watched). EBERT also taught film classes and 'A Hard Day's Night" was always a topic he discussed in his classes, because of Richard Lester's (the director of the film) unique, at the time, method of using hand-held cameras, quick cuts, interviews done on the run with moving targets, quick intercut bits of dialogue and music under documentary action, which at the time, was fairly new and NOT the norm. ALL these methods of filming and editing, became more popular after "A Hard Day's Night" release. It became the norm and is used all over the world in music videos and commercials, and other films. "A HARD DAY'S NIGHT" according to Roger Ebert was what started the popularity of this type of filming and editing.
