I've seen a clip or two of this but not so much...Man the press were some real stinkers...I'm sure the Beatles had alot of that back then. Now I know why Ringo did his little dance...He was thuming his nose at them...
What's your secret to your success...Lennon...if we knew we would form another group and be managers ...priceless..definitely the sharpest knife in the drawer
All the young kids watching this, and thinking this is great! This is what I want to do, and that led to all the groups coming after, God bless the Beatles (because he certainly did)
Uno de los momentos más decisivos de la historia de la música popular, increíble...el mundo no estaba preparado para ellos y eso es Históricamente, aterradoramente magnífico. ♡
I was just a few years too young to be aware of Beatlemania (and surrounded by great Motown music in the Detroit area, so anything more would have been overwhelming). So when COVID hit, I treated myself with renting my first streaming movie, A Hard Day's Night. I watched it five times in 48 hrs. I have been crushing on Georgie ever since. Happy Landing in the USA anniversary, brahs! Ob-la-di, ob-la-da, Life goes on, bra, La-la, how the life goes on.
Best reseption up till that point. A few months later their Australian tour drew the biggest crowds in the hundreds of thousands. Australia was starved for big acts in those days so when the Beatles arrived it was pandemonium
If you were alive then and anywhere from 8(I was 10) to 18, perhaps even to 28, then you could understand the situation that was called BEATLEMANIA. Now it seems absurd. There was NOTHING to compare them to. Only ELVIS could cause such a stir. And many dethroned the KING when the Boys arrived in America.
@@MrDaiseymay Right. He entered the film industry. Beatles were unique in that they wrote their own stuff. I'm not sure if Elvis ever composed. George Harrison once commented that Elvis only had himself and the four of them had each other. I think they bounced ideas off each other and had a better perspective of what their audiences liked. They were in the same generation. Elvis pre service was not the same after he served. The BEATLES changed with the times. Some liked them after '66 and some didn't. When they split, they all were successful, but It wasn't the same success as when they were all together. I never liked Elvis ,but I was born in '54. When the BEATLES arrived, I was 9. Elvis to me was never the King. I would rather listen to Buddy Holly. I do understand why Elvis was popular. I've been to Graceland. Elvis' entourage we're just yes people. He didn't seem to have any fresh ideas, but the movies made him wealthy. Anyway, a lot of bands made people forget about Elvis, in America and in the UK. His rags to riches fame added to his popularity. Beatles did the same thing times four.
@@peepdawg8995 I think so also. A great influence on the BEATLES song writing. It was the Everly Brothers that they emulated for their harmonies. But Buddy could compose, perform, and produced . Beatles name came from the Crickets. So, yes underrated.
Thank you, very much, Mr. Marc Durbin. This is great footage... a nice addition that links (no pun intended) the pre-The Ed Sullivan Show concert (on February 9) in the "1964 era" category in my play list. Likewise, thank you for *not* enhancing the original, "vintage" audio.
Elvis had to know his time as number one was over.Had he continued to seek out hit songs rather than do silly movies, he could have stayed relevant. The Beatles changed everything in music.
Elvis didn't like the Beatles, especially John. Elvis was pretty conservative and didn't care for Lennon's politics. He lobbied Nixon to get John deported.
while i wasnt a huge fan of the very early stuff they did, the period between 1966 until they broke up in 1970, when they wrote some of the greatest songs the World will ever hear...just astonishing....no to mention the cultural impact they had around the World that really lasted almost 4 decades.
I think these wisecracking cynical news reporters thought they were going to have some fun these strange haired boys from England. The Beatles knew how to handle them.
@@markzappasodi It was the whole package, Young, foreign, whitty guys, all with crazy ''pudding Basin'' hair, AND NEW POP MUSICAL TALLENT, like no other.--WHAM !!
😳 Wow that's shocking about how the boys of Liverpool going to be after that young teen asked the Beatles can they sing a song & John hurry up and said no we need 💰💰💰💰💰 money first
I never understood how young woman lost their minds so much over pop stars. I'm glad the screaming mob of hormonal girls never got their hands on the fab 4 as I'm sure they would have been torn to pieces.
@@michaeldowd8422 that is true I was a baby! I was born in NYC on May 14 1968, same day John and Paul were in NYC to announce Apple Records. I was born just a couple of miles away
@@loosilu I was born in Liverpool in June 68. My mother used to bunk off school to go watch the beatles at the cavern club before they were even famous but she was never one of those deranged screamers.......or so she stays 🤔
