Disney+ held an celebrity screening of “The Beatles: Get Back” on at Cineworld Empire Leicester Square in London. The upcoming three-part series is an original docuseries, directed by Peter Jackson and will be arriving on Disney+ just in time for the Thanksgiving holiday. Made entirely from never-before-seen, restored footage, it provides the most intimate and honest glimpse into the creative process and relationship between John, Paul, George, and Ringo ever filmed. You can watch “The Beatles: Get Back” when it rolls out over three days, November 25, 26, and 27, 2021, exclusively on Disney+.
Directed by three-time Oscar®-winning filmmaker Peter Jackson (“The Lord of the Rings” trilogy, “They Shall Not Grow Old”), “The Beatles: Get Back” takes audiences back in time to the band’s January 1969 recording sessions, which became a pivotal moment in music history. The docuseries showcases The Beatles’ creative process as they attempt to write 14 new songs in preparation for their first live concert in over two years. Faced with a nearly impossible deadline, the strong bonds of friendship shared by John Lennon, Paul McCartney, George Harrison, and Ringo Starr are put to the test. The docuseries is compiled from nearly 60 hours of unseen footage shot over 21 days, directed by Michael Lindsay-Hogg in 1969, and from more than 150 hours of unheard audio, most of which has been locked in a vault for over half a century. Jackson is the only person in 50 years to have been given access to this Beatles treasure trove, all of which has now been brilliantly restored. What emerges is an unbelievably intimate portrait of The Beatles, showing how, with their backs against the wall, they could still rely on their friendship, good humor, and creative genius. While plans derail and relationships are put to the test, some of the world’s most iconic songs are composed and performed. The docuseries features - for the first time in its entirety - The Beatles’ last live performance as a group, the unforgettable rooftop concert on London’s Savile Row, as well as other songs and classic compositions featured on the band’s final two albums, Abbey Road and Let It Be.
An exciting new collaboration between The Beatles and Jackson presented by The Walt Disney Studios in association with Apple Corps Ltd. and WingNut Films Productions Ltd., “The Beatles: Get Back” is directed by Peter Jackson, produced by Paul McCartney, Ringo Starr, Yoko Ono Lennon, Olivia Harrison, Peter Jackson, Clare Olssen (“They Shall Not Grow Old”) and Jonathan Clyde (“Eight Days a Week”), with Apple Corps’ Jeff Jones (“Eight Days a Week”) and Ken Kamins (“The Hobbit” trilogy) serving as executive producers. Jabez Olssen (“Rogue One: A Star Wars Story”) serves as the film’s editor, the music supervisor is Giles Martin (“Rocketman”), Michael Hedges (“The Adventures of Tintin”) and Brent Burge (“The Hobbit” trilogy) serve as the series re-recording mixers, and the music is mixed by Giles Martin and Sam Okell (“Yesterday”).
Check out the sights of the celebrity screening of “The Beatles: Get Back” red carpet along with interviews with Dhani Harrison (musician and son of late Beatles guitarist George Harrison), Mereki Beach
(singer), Giles Martin
(record producer, songwriter & Son of Beatles producer George Martin), actor Martin Freeman

I was there in the street listening to the Beatles playing the roof top concert in January 1969. I'm even in a shot in the original cinema film amongst the crowd in the street. It was a BLAST. We knew what was happening. It didn't sound great because the speakers were up on the roof instead of down in the street, but my kids are impressed that I was there, and so am I.

My dear old dad, who first saw The Beatles in 1962, long before they were superstars, still vehemently blamed Yoko Ono for the breakup - until I showed him Get Back a few weeks ago. It's quite odd seeing someone who's 81 going "Oh wow!" like a 20 year old. He doesn't blame anyone any more - because no one was really to blame. As dad put it after watching the last episode: "I guess it was just a rite of passage in the end." Sad, but natural.

The moment we see Paul pulling the basic rhythm and melody for Get Back out of thin air as George and Ringo watch and yawn is priceless. The Beatles had 30 #1 hits and Get Back is one of them. It's now considered an all-time classic rock anthem and played countless times a day on every classic rock station in America, England, and around the world. Frankly, it's one of the songs you're required to learn if you ever picked up a guitar and want to play rock n roll.

As for musicianship, McCartney redefined bass guitar in pop/rock music. By any measure he was a great musician. Harrison played a melodic beautiful “lead guitar“ like no other lead guitarist -- with jazz guitar like fills, the note not played… like miles Davis. Ringo has become revered as a great drummer who “drummed to the song” unfailingly. He was endlessly inventive on the drums. And their vocals as performers and recording artists were unmatched. All that adds up to great musicianship. And then of course there was the songwriting… most importantly they cut their own path as original artists Never settling for commercial success but rather letting their creativity lead them.

I always thought George Harrison was woefully underrated, and that he should’ve been allowed to write more songs and have more control than he did in the Beatles. I love John and Paul and Ringo, I just think George went unfortunately under-appreciated, which is just a loss to everyone. It is ironic though that quite possibly the greatest Beatles song, Here Comes the Sun, was a George song, despite his songs only being a small minority of those relative to Lennon/McCartney in The Beatles. And he also added little bits to so many songs of Lennon/McCartney that totally made the song without which would be quite mediocre. But he wasn’t as much as an attention fiend as John and Paul I suppose, so he fell behind the spotlight, and he was a bit younger so there’s the younger brother sort of dynamic.
@Wofivkelepgovkksoef
@Wofivkelepgovkksoef 2 года назад
I think a lot of George’s solo songs especially from all things must pass wouldn’t of have fitted a Beatles album. I agree he was underrated but realistically he had an output of maybe 3/4 good Beatles songs. John and Paul had 100+ combined.

Don’t forget what George Carlin said - think of how stupid the average person is, and then realize that half of them are dumber than that lol. Just don’t let yourself accept trash to fit in, there are plenty of great options out there so one needn’t indulge mass stupidity, in fact we have a bit of a responsibility to stick to better quality stuff and ridicule the stupidity publicly lol a little shame is useful to apply when earned, despite this micro aggression safe space rage culture bullshit. The Kardashians are valid trash as is a good percentage of popular music (which is how it’s always been, the rate does seem higher now maybe but I think the new media landscape just makes it tough to better ascertain what’s actually popular).

My guess was that when he said he “couldn’t listen to” an album he meant to say Abbey Road or something but accidentally said Let it Be. Because he reiterates that Let it Be is his favorite twice I think. Who knows though

So, Noel, you don't like "Let It Be?" Everyone's entitled to their opinion, but what's your point in voicing it here? To set yourself out as some sort of opinion aficionado at the interview outset? Not cool. This event is about celebrating Get Back, not about you. You also look as if you just rolled out of bed, and didn't get enough sleep.

@@da_great_mogul I agree Abbey Road is great, it’s just I listened to Noel say in a separate interview that he didn’t like the album himself. @cactaceous
@cactaceous 2 года назад
"main character"?! There was no main character. First the leader was clearly John then maybe Paul with his controlling and workaholic ways took a bit of the task but as we see in the documentary, the soul and central figure that kept things jovial and not temperamental was still John. Even Paul calls him 'the boss" during the documentary when they both spoke privately.
@carlosvelasquez3279
@carlosvelasquez3279 2 года назад
@@cactaceous your comment reminds me of what Keith Richards said to explain why the Stones were still together: "they got to treat me nice or everything will be hell and they know it" .. . As you know John was not happy being a Beatle anymore so Paul was using some psychology /motivating him to be the Beatle Boss because if John felt he was the boss then things could keep going. But we all know that John wanted Yoko to be taken as if she was him (heroin) so she picked Allen Klein as next manager , did Paul take it as an order from the Boss??? We all know he didn't because he wasn't going to be Boss around.
