A look into the life of John Lennon's mother Julia and the meaning behind the song. Artist Spotlight AS I RECALL IT - THERE'S NO LIFE WITHOUT YOUR LOVE............................. • Video
You deserve it! I'm so proud of you and your work and can't wait for other people to see what I see. Having a gift whether it's art, courage, or power isn't ours to give away. Being an artist is a responsibility even if it gets difficult. Great Job!
The song displays some incredible talent and writing ability. John obviously had many of his father's looks and personality traits, plus similarly troubled childhood. Nice that John could channel all that into something most us can surely benefit from.
I have felt that the "Ocean Child" live was about introducing Yoko to his mother through song. It certainly makes sense; "Ocean Child calls me..." It sounds like an introduction to me. I lost my mother young and I often wonder what it would be like to introduce my wife and children to her. I think that is what John was trying to do there.
Hey man, you do a lot great work. One can only hope a young cat stumbles upon this beautifully edited, info packed content and see some of the true potential of music. Keep up the great work Holly, cheers!👍🏻
Great video and nice explanation. Parents, in goog and bad, are the most important people in our life. Their education will form a large part of our character, even as adults. It doesn't matter if we're ordinary people or famous as John Lennon , it's the same for everyone.
You always hear the story of "John's choice" of saying who he will stay and live with. History. It IS one of the beautiful Beatle songs. The White Album was FILLED with them.
"Julia" the most endearing song of all time . Lyrics so enchanting and romantic that it makes one cry. I always wondered why Sir John was raised by Auntie Mimi! It is comforting that Julia was allowed to play a key role in his musical education. All the talent, playfulness, flair for costume spontaneity and most of al" love" originated with his gorgeous mother. It is no surprise that Yoko's creative spirit sparked the flame from within. Her art exhibit which was multi dimensional, prompted beloved Sir John to climb the ladder to find the word "yes" and embrace positivity and genuine happiness. The fact that "Sean" had the unique experience of being parented and cherished by someone as sensitive as "the late great John Lennon" makes us appreciate the treasures of nurturing. The fact that Yoko continued with her new role as the sole parent is a credit to her resiliency and character. Eventually love conquered the negativity with Sean,Yoko, Cynthia and John to a healing of souls and an awakening to forgiveness of what in the natural world would never happen. The two sons are stronger as a result and the world gains two gifted artists who carry on the legacy of an unforgettable man who started the journey with his soulmate Yoko to promote world peace in numerous international settings.Every family member matters and it is incredible that these two generous men keep his memory alive. I have so much gratitude for the cooperation and family bonding. Blessings forever.
You can't even bring yourself to write Julian's name in your pretentious rant. Perhaps because John was an absolute prick to Cynthia and esp Julian? A terrible father figure just like his own dad, so much so that he ran away from his 'problem' escaping it instead of facing it, much like his own father did when he 'went to Sea'..
Ahhh! One of my favorite Beatles songs. So simple, yet emotional. Also helps that in high school I had a world-class crush on a girl named Julia right at the same time as I discovered this song. :)
That's sort of what I was thinking, although there should be enough Beatles fans out there that you should have millions by now. I guess I'm a bit biased since I inherited my Beatle love from my 60's parents. :)
"Julia" was my go-to song when I lived in Los Angeles, a sad time without my closest friends from Oakland and San Francisco. I was living in a rent-by-the week hotel and was without a secure base to produce creative work. This examination of the song and its meaning in John's lonely childhood gave me great insight. Thank you.
Again.. I love your content. Please don't ever stop what you do, because it makes people come to your channel, watch your content, and be inspired.. Not to mention that you are incredibly talented and insightful. Rock on.
This is a profound song, and many of John's songs were. He wasn't afraid to bare his soul to the world. I think these incidents, shaped and molded John into the artist he was. I like your comments a lot. very well thought out..
Ocean child calls me. I didn't know this lyric referred to Yoko Ono - but now that I do, I think you missed the obvious. Rather than a nod to nurturing motherhood ( which it sort of is ) - it's a call to his mother in heaven to inform her of his new love. Asking his mother for her blessing, which he knows she will give, and to let her know of this love and that he is happy. So he sings the song of love for Ju...lia. 🙏💜✨
I was wondering when a new video will come up... Yay!! Loved the intro, and of course - thank you for explaining Julia! I remember requesting this a while back
Interesting. Donovan had a song called Sand and Foam released a year earlier in 67 too. I wonder if he introduced the original poem to John. Having taught John the finger picking, I could see how John could be inspired by the poem and its connection to Donovan.
I just love all your Beatles Explained videos! I grew up with the Beatles! (Graduated from high school in 1969) I remember buying each one of the Beatles albums waiting for their release dates. I wish I would have known how truly astonishingly brilliant they were then. Thank you for all the insight! You've transported me back to my days of innocent youth!
Welcome back. Hope the holidays were great for you. But you got to find a way to stop taking long periods of time off. I told you how it makes me jones. It feels like months since I had my Hollyhobs fix. Maybe stock up a few videos in advance so when you take the time off you can still post once a week or something. You can't expect people like me to go that long without our medicine. I almost scratched a hole through my arm. lol In any case, great vid as usual. Nice new opening, and I went over and checked out As I Recall It. I liked it. So thanks for the heads up on some good music and a good video. Take care.
I love the new intro! Subscribe you long time ago, and you get better and better with every video, both content wise and graphic wise. Way to go!!!!!!!!!!
I think your videos are great. I love learning about the origin of songs that may have not been some of my favorites but YOU have changed that. Thank you. But I recently watched a video titled George Martin the fifth Beatle. Hopefully, if you aren't working on this already maybe you'll be inspired to do some research on the subject. Keep up the great work.
Loving the new titles and format. Julia is in my top 5 Beatles songs, breathtakingly beautiful and once again your sensitive cover and visuals are perfect. Very intrigued with 'As I Recall It' (definitely a bit of Kinks in there methinks...always a good thing!). Thank you and Happy New Year Sir :)
