I think what people, including the judges, missed was the fact that this is a LIVE audition and the singer was manipulating her voice to sound like that. It was not sped up as if it were a recording.

Thank you Anne el Khoury, for sharing her words in that interview, for us to know the real story behind the curtains. I loved her performance and the rebelious spirit with which she interpreted it. To me, it's a tribute to the spirit of the song. Even more, when she's doing that in front of such a big audience, facing rejection in big numbers, and in front of 4 influential, skeptic, professional judges that are expecting to be 'enchanted', 'seduced'. What a talented, unique and genius interpretation. I believe that if she had started the first 2-3 sentences normal and then turned, instead of the reverse, she may not have confronted such strong resistance in the judges, and maybe they wouldn't have feared being defied or disrespected, just surprised and knocked their socks off by such young talented girl, which is what she just did from start to finish. Who knows. It takes talent to come up with such interpretation. All in all, one of the top 10 auditions ever. But, wait, oh, yes, perhaps Liv would say "don't take it that seriously, have some fun, enjoy life and let it be". Whatever. She definitely is mesmerizing. You rock, Liv. Thank you for these 2 minutes that left a brilliant imprint. Wish you the best wherever you are.
