ANYONE who says The Beatles are “overrated “ are not real music lovers. The Beatles were influential to every single band / artists who are truly talented artists without fear of creative journeys.
For real, you can not like their music, but to say that they were bad musicians and are overrated is factually incorrect. Almost every musician around today can probably trace back inspiration to either the Beatles, or to another artist that was inspired by the Beatles. Regardless of what you think of them, they WERE extremely influential
I've heard professional musician's, say that in a different era their talent would be likened to Beethoven, Bach Mozart, etc. Better than any other band, as far as versatility and scope goes.
And THAT takes a study of their albums. Joni Mitchell... Steely Dan... I'm sure there are others, but most performers and bands don't have 'generations' or 'eras' of their music.
And it all took a total of 8 years after they returned from Hamburg and broke out in Liverpool. That whole journey from matching suits and moptops to Peppers to hippy John and George. 8 years.
@@allensaunders449 beatles will always be 1 step up from everyone else. even David gilmour from Pink floyd himself, said beatles were a better band his band. the video is on youtube
@@allensaunders449 i know music is subjective but The Beatles are objectively the best band of all time. Actually fuck that, the best artist of all time.
Yep , discovered him today , spent the last few hours watching him freak out at them . He's gold , makes me wish I could go back 50 yrs ago & find those LPs one by one again .
The crazy thing is that the same man wrote "Yesterday" and "Helter Skelter," and the same man wrote "Julia" and "Revolution." The Beatles could do anything.
@redlightflash I think Naiant's point is McCartney wrote both Yesterday & Helter Skelter & Lennon wrote both Julia & Revolution. Soft love songs & heavy rock. Either of them could write BOTH type of songs.
@redlightflash but the same man wrote them - which is what he wrote then compared that with two other songs written by same man. Both men were very versatile
HazeBruv, that "switching up styles" you're admiring was 100% purposeful by the Beatles. Unlike many bands who obey their record company's demand to replicate every hit song, the Beatles NEVER wanted to repeat themselves. In historical hindsight of their song catalog, it's a staggering accomplishment.
In a way The Beatles are the most perfect band ever (this may sound strange coming from a heavy rocker like myself). Every LP they released is completely different from the others while at the same time remaining 100% Beatles.
If you want more "harder" Beatles, give a listen to "Taxman", "Paperback Writer", "Everybody's Got Something To Hide Except Me And My Monkey", and "I Want You (She's So Heavy)"!
I follow some who react to the Beatles as the Beatles are my life (best way to explain it) But you react better than anyone and you do get it - The Beatles are the best there is and there will never be another group like them or even close, ever! So keep on enjoying the Fab Four and I will watching!!
Imagine the minds blown when people first heard “TNK?” Still holds up 50-plus years later. It’s like showing 15th-century German printing press inventor Johannes Gutenberg today’s Xerox machines and laser printers🖨, yo!!!😜
You should try "happiness is a warm gun" and "while my guitar gently weeps" really good songs from them. Or why not there most experimentel song "tomorrow never knows" so ahead of it's time.
I'm 43 and been a Beatles fan for as long as I can remember. It's amazing they only recorded for 8 years and put out so much variety, influential material.
It was a blast growing up with these dudes , glad to see the people still digging their messages Gotta do RAIN First song to use backward loops Beatles first in many things .
There's just a small handful of bands that people choose to regard as the greatest band of all time. But one thing is for sure, if the Beatles had never been, neither would have those other bands, and the world would have become a much different place. The 60's as we know them would not have happened if it were not for the Beatles. Music. Fashion. Youth Culture. Peace Movement. The Sexual revolution. Nothing would have been the same it not for them! They were the most pivotal and influential entity of the 20th century. Their music endears, endures and will stand the test of time until the end of time itself. It belongs to the Ages! ✌🍒🇨🇦🍁🇨🇦
I Want You (She's So Heavy), Got to Get Into My Life, Get Back, Come Together, She Came In Through the Bathroom Window, and of course, A Day in a Life.
People always overlook the early great stuff. "Please,Please Me", "Don't Bother Me", "I Should Have Known Better" and about a million more well before the Let it Be and Abby Road era.
Basically, start with the first album, enjoy each track, then proceed with all the rest, while reading their life stories and about George Martin, Abbey Road, and Apple. Then visit Liverpool and London.
Every Beatle song is different, they play all genres, from Rock, Blues, Country, they started Rap, Jazz, every type. Living through their journey, waiting for each album, it was amazing. They also innovated the whole music industry, and introduced studio techniques still used today. They are my favorite group.
The Beatles were so versatile! Every song was.different, displaying many genres of music. They were never boring because they kept adding knew instruments, rhythms, and harmonies, etc. to each verse or chorus. When I was a teenager, we couldn't wait for the next song on the radio, or new album. You couldn't tear yourself away from listening closely to every song. Keep listening!
You're about to be amazed many more times, just keep listening. Try Lennon's Nowhere Man, Dear Prudence, Happiness Is A Warm Gun. Harrison's Something and Mccartney's Oh Darling.
Great reaction! And now a few anecdotes: This was not the original version of this song. John originally wrote it with a slow more bluesy vibe, but it wasn't considered 'poppy' enough to be their next single. So, he revamped it and this is the result. You can hear the original version on the 'White Album'. The Beatles always tried to remain apolitical in their music, at first. After 1966, they began to put more social commentary in the music though it was subtle. John had always wanted to be more bold so if you read these lyrics, they pretty much describe his 1960s point of view and opposition to the war in Vietnam(or war in general). Here, he has the line in reference to destruction, 'don't you know that you can count me out'. But if you check the 'White Album' version he follows the word 'out' with 'in'. When asked about that he noted that sometimes you have to be destructive in order to create change. Also, when this song came out on the 45 as the flip side to 'Hey Jude', many people were so dismayed by this overdriven guitar tone that they thought there was something wrong with the record and took it back. No, folks, this is only another example of the Fabs creating sounds you've never heard before. On a personal note: I once tried to imitate this tone in the mid 70s using the equipment that was available at the time. I succeeded. It sounded awesome but it caused the amp's internals to produce a very frightening red glow. I switched it off immediately and let it cool but I don't think that hardware was ever the same after that.
...and if you go back further to the Esher demos it even sounds a little bit gospel. It's up tempo in the demo. John said he was asked by certain groups to participate in the violent overthrow of government's. The Beatles and The Rolling Stones were to be the face of the movement and support them vocally and financially. John's response was this song and The Rolling Stones' was "Street Fighting Man".
Seems to me it's more a response to people hitting them up for money and their endorsement for dubious causes than about 'opposition to the war in Vietnam' - I don't see that in it ....
The promo video for this single version also included the "shooby-doo-wah" ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-BGLGzRXY5Bw.html If he wants to hear something completely different he should do Revolution 9.
If you want to see different, see the slower version of this same song. Same song, entirely different feel. In the 1960s, this was what music was like every day.
@@tinypurplefishesrunlaughin8052 I'm actually a second round fan fron the 70's when I was a teenager. It's been a continuing thread throughout my life!
thank you for doing this song, quite overlooked and underrated song amongst the Beatles' catalogue but one of my favorites. People of the time pointed to this song and the Revolver album as a whole as something completely new and different. Blew the fans minds and started to gain more reputable respect in the global community. Thanks again!
There are at least three versions of “Revolution” There is also a Do-Wop version and a straight rock and roll version. Every one is just as good in its own way.
You think those 4 songs are that different, you need to check out early Beatles, from like 1963, you wouldn't be able to tell its the same band. They changed so much in 8 years. That's why they are the best. They didn't settle and always where looking to expand.
It's impossible to ever pick a favorite Beatles song as there are so many songs with many different styles. One day you are in the mood for one particular Beatles song and you have to hear it ... and another day, you may be in a different mood and you have to hear a different song.. They were very prolific song writers and inventive musicians...... and they has a real social conscience
Dip into some of their early stuff too, like "I Feel Fine" 1965, "She's A Woman" 1964, "You've Got To Hide Your Love Away" 1965, "A Hard Days Night" 1964, "Norwegian Wood" 1965, "Can't Buy Me Love" 1964, and many others. They produced well over 200 songs. A lot to dig through! And definitely do "Tomorrow Never Knows" 1966, very different from their early tunes for sure!
from the Revolver' recording sessions. the 45 rpm single with ' Rain' and ' paperback writer'. Rain is super cool. Paperback writer is - a Beatle song. ps. rambling on - the inventors of 'Cool' modern life - 'Norweigian wood' from Rubber soul. John's song, Georges intro to Indian culture, Sitar etc
@@southernwanderer7912 It was an accident. John stated "After we'd done the session on that particular song - it ended at about four or five in the morning - I went home with a tape to see what else you could do with it. And I was sort of very stoned and tired, you know, not knowing what I was doing, and I just happened to put it on my own tape recorder and it came out backwards. And I liked it better. So that's how it happened."
It gives me great joy every time I see a younger dude not so familiar with The Beatles when they hear one of their songs for the first time, and their mouth falls open, there eyeballs bug out, and the just say, "Ho-LY SH*T!!!!!!".
There's a reason why many consider them the greatest band ever. The way they were able to produce music so many people related to and loved even as it changed and evolved drasiticly over a relatively short period of time. So many different styles of music and important messages to the world.
You are the best song reaction person around. I have been loving on the Beatles for all my life but to hear your reactions makes me love them more. You make me laugh and cry. You are the best.
The relevance of Revolution, right now in September of 2022 is eerie. The Beatles.....rock stars, virtuosos, prophets, trail blazers. They were and still are the most important thing that happened to music in the history of the world. I am so glad that I was born in 1955 and could fully appreciate and experience them beginning when I was 9 years old. I am 67 and I am still thrilled and yes, emotionally moved by the Beatles.
I've been looking through my phone and I'm glad to see how many people are just discovering the Beatles,I am fortunate to have grown up with their music and the British Invasion so you people that are just discovering this kind of music you have a lot of catching up to do , happy listening but don't just listen to it you got to hear it,
This guy has the best personality. Reminds me of my Aunty lol. Great job. Oh yeah, you’d be hard pressed to find a bad Beatles song (unless you try revolution 9 or wild honey pie). All of the selections in this comment section are great, good luck choosing what next!
Give "Cold Turkey" a listen as it is such a mellow song by John Lennon and then listen to "Hey Bulldog" by the Beatles. The Beatles together and as solo musicians have made some of the most interesting music of the last 60 years.
When someone asked what is your favourite song? I said: Hey Jude / Revolution first single realized by Apple Records the major and greatest single of ever and this is so enough to say THE BEATLES is the major and greatest band of ever They change the rock & pop music
The Beatles are a Revolution. Amazing they wrote all of this material themselves and wanted effects made or developed that we have today. Some they did have made and used near their end. So much of a collaborated talent as a group off the charts on every scale of measure. Visionaries of genesis !!! Glad you discovered them.
This is my first time watching one of your videos. I dig SO much that you love The Beatles! There's a reason they're considered the best band of all time. You'll never hear anything quite like them. Their range of styles is unparalleled. Keep going with their hits! You'll never be disappointed.
Such a good choice. While my Guitar Gently Weeps (original version), I am the Walrus, I Want You (She's so Heavy), or Eleanor Rigby should be on your horizon.
I love your reaction!!! My kids love the Beatles and they ask me why did they make so much good music back then. It is hard to figure out but I guess everyone was will or daring enough to stretch the boundaries back then. It is probably common place now but it was all groundbreaking back then!!!
It is a real joy to see you have the same reaction as I did when I heard the Beatles when they first came to the states. Their music continues to amaze me to this day. I am happy that I got to see them perform live back in August of 1966. Plan on joining you on your journey brother. Peace ✌
I follow and also listen to a lot of different reaction channels and your stand out because you are so enthusiastic and show your emotion really when you react. You don’t just sit back and then talk a little bit or then just talk at the end you make it obvious when you dig something. I’m long time Beatles fan so I really appreciate when you do these .
I love your reactions - your non-verbal ones in particular; your sheer enjoyment & enthusiasm! You’ve cheered me up so, so much when I’ve been down lately that I had to say thank you. - Beatles Fanatic Since 1964/New & Grateful Subscriber! ❤️
