You are hands down the best Beatles song teacher in my opinion. I struggle with covers and you have a way that just works for me. Words can't describe my gratitude. I found you through your Don't let me down tutorial, which is amazing. Currently I'm working a seven day week and struggle to play any guitar but soon I'll have time and intend to put these tutorials to practice. Until then I'll just enjoy them anyway. Really good work 👍
Wish I had these videos 30 years ago when I was first learning how to play. So many bad habits to unlearn, but having lots of fun learning all my favorite songs.
I am in Liverpool England. Practically walking distance from Hambleton Hall in Page Moss. The Beatles played it regularly in early 1960 Now sadly demolished. It became a probation and a DHSS bulding. Always walk past where it stood and I say to myself. The greatest rock stars in history played in that spot. My girlfriend just thinks I am mad, Been in awe of the Beatles all my life but could never play or sing Beatles songs like you can. Fantastic Lessons and Thanks. Tony from the pool.
Nice comment but I grew up in Liverpool Sydney, a working clas suburb at least when I lived there, but I noticed you say "the pool" when we called it "Livo". All the best.
William Gray - That's very kind of you. I got up at 6am the day I recorded it - screamed my brains out for an hour trying to rip up my vocal cords before I attempted it. I could barely speak for the rest of the day! lol
@@MPfrance Wow!! Better cover of his vocal than most of the "Johns" I've heard in Beatles tribute bands!! You nailed it!! Thank you for the post. I'm a guitar player in an all around cover band and was missing the subtle parts that really make Twist And Shout sound right!!
@@MPfrance John said in Anthology pretty the same. He just couldn't sing it, so he screamed that devil's song, and at the end he damaged his voice, of course, and couldn't even speak like you.
Arsen Vlasov - I was hoarse for the rest of the day when I recorded my vocal attempt. I videotaped the lesson part two days later when my voice returned.
Very informative, particularly seeing both parts of the solo. Most of all, glad I hung on for the last few minutes... Was hoping you would perform the complete song... And wow that was an immense vocal performance!
It’s amazing to think that this song was recorded at the end of a long day...with John singing with a cold/sore throat! The amount of energy that you feel from this performance...just wow!🤩
Yes amazing but they were a hard working band and were pretty seasoned by this recording I think. Amazing to see Paul even now hardly drinks during his performances!
We started learning this song in my music class, and initially I was thinking it's kind of lame - just a three chord song. But that's because I can't dissect it and see all the nuances that Mike brings! After watching this I'm totally stoked to be learning it. And I agree, that was an insane vocal!
Great as all the rest that you do, Mike! Thank you ever so much. I am The Beatles fan as all we here. . I wish we could jam with you some time! It would be wonderful!
I really wasn’t expecting anything at all for the vocals and was super excited to listen to the guitars mashed up. Once the song started, I didn’t listen to anything but the vocals lol!! What an amazing job. Time to start touring with Paul lol!
What an ear! I've listened to that song a thousand times, even saw them live in '65 - there's no way that I would have picked up that level of detail, ever. Brilliant again!
BattlinBuck - That's kind of you. I was a bit embarrassed to post it 'cuz John is SO amazing on it. But do know - I ripped my voice up for an hour before I tried to sing it - was completely hoarse for the rest of the day.
Wow, that was terrific Mike! Your vocals were spot on mate, just amazing. The Beatles were & always will be musical magic to my ears. Thanks for keeping their music alive. Be well & stay safe...👍😉
@@MPfrance Great “Michele” , thank you again for your passion. I think your drummer Richie Russo has a typical “Sicilian” surname, too....😏 Have a great day !🎸
Dreadful Liverpool accent!! Ha ha, but brilliant lesson as always. We are privileged that good people like you take the time and effort to share your talent and experience for the benefit of others. Trulyi inspiring, thank you.
That was truly fab. A really good performance and as always a great, concise and easy to follow lesson. You da man, Mikey! BTW, do you edit the video too? As a professional editor, I give you mad props on that expertise too. Awesome job. I will definitely be perfecting this song at home. Glad that France is right next door thanks to the internet.
Mike, a question off subject... Chris Lentz runs a Les Paul RU-vid channel and you're listed as a recommended channel. I know Mr Lentz was a friend of Les Paul and I've been worried about him because he hasn't posted in a year. And earlier this year, Lou died and nothing was posted by Lentz. Could you shed some light on this situation, if you know. Thanks! BTW, the Beatle's version of Twist and Shout was and still is one of the most electrifying R&R recordings ever made. Your lesson brought it to life, great demonstration of every part. Thanks!
Keep it up. If you aren’t too busy can you teach George’s part to sgt peppers. It’s hard for me to learn his part from ear for some reason. It sounds like 3 guitars instead of 2.
Twist and Shout opens the Beatles live at Hollywood Bowl album. The Rave up vocals are to me one of the great moments in 1960's music which is saying a lot. I always crank it and get chills. They hit every note and make every pitch jump seem easy. Then they cap it with ascending "shouts." I've played it for younger people and ask "who on Earth do you think can do that?" Only the Fab Four could pull that off live. And then the guitar double stops are typical Beatles perfection. Great job Mike. Really enjoy your recent vids-- tres cool
Great stuff Mike. Breakdowns are getting better and better. Not bad vocal either - you get about two shots at getting that one down w/o losing the voice!
Marc Bolan - Thanks and You got that right! I got up at 6am - warmed up (by screaming to ruff up the cords) and sang it twice. I was hoarse the entire rest of the day.
