As a kid in Louisiana in the 60s and 70s we had a next door neighbor who was from Victoria. He was in WW2 and was one of the Band of Brothers Airborne. He was buried back in Victoria. Thanks for your service Mr. Bill.
My 4th great grandfather was Don Martin De Leon. My husband and I named our oldest daughter Victoria in his honor. Thanks for producing and sharing this video!
Victoria is such a cool town. As kids we used to go there for family get togethers. There were a lot, and I rememeber seeing some of these homes, and at that time they had the prettiest girls in Texas or so I thought.
We live in such a large, spread out state! 254 counties! Nowadays, I try to plan travel with an extra hour or two to pull off the interstates and investigate some of these towns. I started with Waxahachie, and now Victoria is on my bucket list. Yes, I've visited there, but I've never been off the main highways to see the old part. Thanks for these enlightening videos - when they're over I usually head to the Texas historical marker site to read the details... 🌊⭐🌊
I remember the early 50's in the fourth, fifth and sixth grades in Victoria.......first at William Offer Elementary School, now closed, the Mitchell School, favorite teacher was Mrs. Fatula. Lived on Lone Tree Road.
My father's family lived here for many, many years and still lives there. My dad took us to see my grandparents and uncles on special occasions. Loved the town and the area.
Thank you for videos, I live in the panhandle now, but I’m about to look for land somewhere else, still in Texas, so I’ll be watching many of your videos as research for locations. Great to know the history too, great job! Love Texas!
@noniux3, we are too. Panhandle Area has exploded in population. We can share info on places like this. Looking for good land with water for bigger homestead. God Bless ya’ll in your search!
You’re the first person I’ve heard say that in the 20 years I’ve lived in Victoria. Sure I’ve met a handful of good people but for the most part the people here have been very standoffish & unfriendly. I’ve never felt welcome here.
When I was young, my job occasionally took me to Victoria … but at that age, I wasn’t interested in exploring beyond restaurant chains and shopping malls. Now I live far away. I sure wish I’d explored this pretty town. Adding it to my list. Thanks for another great video!
Victoria has tons of history. Our suburbs are: Houston, Corpus Christi, San Antonio, and Austin as I like to say. One of the biggest secrets of the Victoria area are the outdoor sports of fishing and duck hunting.
I grew up in Victoria. You did a great job of pointing out all of the interesting locations that we all took for granted when I was growing up. This video makes me want to go back and rediscover it. Keep up the good work!
@@Avery_osc Great! Have you been by Dairy Treet for a burger and onion rings yet? They've been around forever and were our family's favorite hamburger in town. :)
We drove up to Victoria from Corpus Christi about a month ago and had lunch at the Pump House and returned again last week to have lunch there again. We love the historic homes in Victoria and had a cup of coffee at the Coffee Box on Main St., what a lovely city, thanks for sharing your video.
We moved to Victoria in 2018 and love it here. Thank you for highlighting some of the wonderful aspects of our little town. The Pumphouse is a definite stop. It's very good. So is the deli downtown. :D
Glad you made a video about Victoria, Texas, where I did a lot of my growing up. But I also know you left out a lot of information about Victoria and its history.
Victoria Texas the city where star's twinkle in a luminous purple night the snowflakes are light and delicate the flowers bloom in spring time and the aurora boriales is glowy soft and green looking "it's to bad your not even welcomed there"😂
Crime is bad now in Victoria as well as corpus Christi and others. Texas needs to do something about the crime in Texas but most folks don't address it. Austin was just weird but now is bad with crime.
As a person who lives right outside of victoria and goes almost daily, don't worry you're not missing much people. It's not nearly as pretty anymore. Go down the road a ways to cuero its much pretty
As someone that only passed through along 59 until recently, I always viewed it as kind of a not so attractive industrial town. However, when I finally went to the historic central portion, I was pleasantly surprised.
Yea I’ve lived here for about 20 years and it’s the most boring & unfriendly places I’ve ever been. If you weren’t born & raised here you’ll never be welcome here.
We live in Victoria , it may be beautiful but its also a suculent BLACK HOLE of a town for us locals , as we call it that . Why ? Because when we try to move out and away , it sucks you right back in no matter what . Victoria is the black hole of life that drains everything from you lol
Texas respects antiquity for its historical I.pittance and value, not like other locations (cannot mention names, I may insult the community rules, which is BS and a violation of my constitutional right) that tear down historic buildings in the name of progress. Davis
Many other historic areas in our beautiful country are as fiercely protective of their historical sites. I say this as a Texan. It is not accurate that everywhere in TX cares for history as they should.
The historic buildings are cool. But calling Victoria beautiful is a stretch. It's flat, no real character. And crime is high. The green trees are nice but that's really about it. I'd be depressed if I had to live there.
this town is mediocre at best. this is the kind of town that if you forget to take that $20 you got at Walmart the next person takes it. its the kind of town if someone hits you they keep going dont visit dont move here for sure. run. far from southern hospitality regret moving here.
Moved to Victoria from Ohio in 2010. Don't know what type of crowd you were hanging out with , but Victoria is nothing like you whimper about here. Instead of being a negative Nancy saddle up , and get out of town.
