The Beautiful Letdown - 14 years ago today 

This was historic for me in many ways, it defined what I called "Christian metaphorical" music at its best. Really it was so good that since then most of the major themes in "Letdown" and that includes the jolting ("guitar in the sewer") one, are really real-life lessons and experiences that keep re-playing in life. There are great sermons in this album, folks!!! It jolted me that most of these themes were also the subject of my pastor's (my friend john Piper's) sermons, sometimes the same ones I would hear as I went home from church. I was greatly blessed by the amazing providence and juxtaposition of musical artistic metaphor and very didactic theological preaching by a world-renown preacher. I started to see clearly that the two routes of John and Co. and Jon and Co. were quite similar and yet very different means of my personal sanctification in Jesus! How blessed I have been through all these years! His grace be with you all!

2023 and even more greatfull for "The Beautiful Letdown". thanks, Sony, for giving the letdown to Switchfoot 20 years ago. The result was absolutely BEAUTIFUL!

Wow! I remember my girlfriend at the time got me the CD for my birthday and I loved it! We were both Switchfoot fans. I do remember that far too many people thought that 'We Were Meant to Live' was an anti-war song, because of the "We want more than the wars of our fathers" line, because Operation Iraqi Freedom began that year. In fact, I knew one guy who absolutely hated Christians and Christianity, and then he told me that he loved Switchfoot especially The Beautiful Letdown album. I snickered and told him that Switchfoot is a Christian bad, he went silent. LOL! Otherwise 14 YEARS AGO!? Has it been that long!? I still have my New Way to Be Human CD. Keep up the good work you guys! God bless!

This album literally changed my life. It was really how I started listening to music and knowing what I liked. I was 5 when this came out. I went to a summer camp for single moms and their kids. And that year, they used this album as the soundtrack to the VHS we got. Every time I hear "Dare You To Move" or "This is Your Life" memories come flooding in. These are the songs I go to when I want to feel at home. Thank you for the beautiful music. I haven't stopped listening for 14 years. Love ya ❤️

If I hadn't seen the movie "A walk to remember", I would have never been introduced to Switchfoot so because of that movie, The beautiful letdown will always be one of my favorite albums.

My favorite Switchfoot album. It just holds so much meaning and the music talks to me in a way that I never thought was possible, even now it is still one of the most amazing albums I've ever listened to. I'm thankful for Switchfoot and the masterpiece that "The Beautiful Letdown" is.

I am forever be indebted to Switchfoot. My high school must've been a mess without them. That album changed my life too. I am privileged when they had a concert here in the Philippines. I got a chance to high five John. Best moment of my life.

The Beautiful Letdown I think was their big breakthrough album, if it wasn't for Dare You To Move, I wouldn't know who Switchfoot are, and I'm really grateful for this album, so cheers to The Beautiful Letdown!

I listened to this when I was a young kid and it's what made me love Switchfoot. To this day they are my fav band, have always loved there music since this album! It is definitely one of the best albums of all time, seriously.
