I'd love to hear what you have to teach about each sabbat!! If you have any ideas for affordable/free rituals or activities to do in celebration, I would appreciate the suggestions as well 😊 I usually come up with my own ideas because I don't necessarily work with many deities, and no one else I know celebrates sabbats, so I do it alone...
@@MysticRhythmsYoga ahhh I hear this loud and clear! I am planning on some ritual inspo videos and things like that. I wish we could all be together… maybe we’ll do a retreat sometime! So many big moon medicine dreams. Thanks for the feedback. It really helps me envision the future! ✨🦋
It was really relaxing video! Your voice👌🏻🔥 Also, I read in a post from the Swedish Nordic museum that the people lighted fires and made noises and sang so that the dangerous animals that woke up from their hibernation would stay away from their houses and villages(of course other than celebrating and welcoming the summer). This tradition called Valborg in Sweden lives on from the medieval times until today, especially amongst the young.
Oh my goddess! I jist found your channel and i absolutely love it! Im a member of a Pagan circle and im isually charged with hosting Beltane and your video (along with your other wonderful videos) are such an inspiration!
Thank you, well said!!! Already today the Beltane Energy is here, feels like the time before Winter Solstice, this sacred time, my favourite time. Similar Energy. I love Mother Earth and Her Seasons. When we Re-connect with Nature, the Forest in particular, we can learn to sense again, find what we have lost in the process of domestication. And Thank you for pointing towards a great book, Braiding Sweetgrass, found it read chapter by chapter and it is beautiful
The pagan origins of the Maypole are wild because it's a huge part of Jamaican culture. I remember always being fascinated watching the dance and threading of the ribbon.
Aw yay!! I'm so glad to hear it… I really love using my research in another way. I can really only cover so much ground in the intros of our yoga videos. So hopefully folks find this new series interesting!
Can i correct you a little galic is a language spoken in scotland, wales ireland, wales, parts of france Nx spain. It nevsr was a culture. Celtic is a culture lrknounced keltic not celtic. Celts are and were i n scotlanx ireland wales, and were druids, in roman times. During the saxon invasion celts mostly left england for wales scotland and ireland and france.
Ooo thank you!! If I said “Gaelic culture” I definitely misspoke. It’s a language! Thank you so much for pointing this out and for the other information. ❤️
You are welcome my dear, on the whole it was very informative. I have been on a pagan path several years now. Traditional witchcraft, some shamanism of a celtic and saxon germanic nature. Would be intersting to know skmething of 1st native indian pagan parhs. Ic simular ir diffwrenr.
Linguistically speaking separate areas speak and spell things differently. It's neither correct nor incorrect, you must always remember there's never only one way of doing anything.
@@moonmedicineyoga I don't know what that person is saying, but Gaelic is not spoken outside of Ireland, Scotland and the Isle of Mann. Gaelic is a linguistic sub-group. "Irish" or "Gaeilge", "Scottish" or "Gaidhlig", and "Manx" or "Gilck" are the three languages within the Gaelic language family, but they are all very similar so saying "Gaelic" is fine and makes sense! Also your pronunciation is great. Especially impressed with "Cailleach"
i really loved this! Informative and also calming to listen to. Would love more of these types of videos in the future. Now off to do the Beltane yoga!
Thank you for educating me about the origins & traditions of Beltan. I first learned of Beltan in Season 1 of “Outlander.” I saw a version of Beltan celebration in Season 3: E 5 of “Anne with an E.”. In their senior year of High School, after the men in town steal the school printing press & accidentally burn down r the school room by dropping a smoldering cigar on the ground, to put the women down after Anne wrote an editorial about human rights, in defense of Josie who was molested outside a dance by her betrothed. Anne & her tight knit group of girlfriends from their one room country school house, meet at night in a meadow to celebrate Beltan & take back their power. Dressed in their 1899 white night gowns, crowned with flower garlands, they gather branches & kindling & make the bonfire.Lighting their twigs from the lanterns they carried to make their way in the night, they set the bonfire ablaze. Standing around the bonfire in a circle they begin the ritual: (Anne): “Goddess of Beltan, Sacred Mother, Queen of May, Wild Lady of the Woods, Welcome to our Circle.” (In Unison): We women powerful & sacred, Declare on this Hallowed Night: (Tillie): Our Heavenly bodies belong solely to us.” (Diana): “We will choose whom to love& with whom to trust.” (Josie): “We walk on this earth with grace & respect.” (Jane): “We’ll always take pride in our great intellect.” (Ruby): “We’ll honor our emotions, so our spirits may soar.” (Tillie): “And should any man belittle us, (In unison): We’ll show him the door!” (Anne): “Our spirits are unbreakable, Our imaginations free, Walk with us Goddess, So blessed, are we!” Each throws a small packet of potpourri into the bonfire & starts the twirling & dancing around the fire holding up ribboned branches & utter celebratory shrieks. Awed by the whole experience, Ruby sits down in the meadow, looks up at the night sky & says “How I love being a woman.” Wild cheering ensues.
oh yes!!! those shows definitely got people interested in this old festivals. Thank you for sharing that bit about "Anne with An E" - I've heard that show is wonderful and I still haven't seen it! Now I'm excited to check it out. Thank you for taking the time to share such lovely insights. I hope to see you again soon!
A bientot!🌞💮
Just found your channel and I’m now subscribed. I nearly didn’t click on this as I’m in the Southern Hemisphere and we are now in Samhain but I’m glad I did. I look forward to exploring your channel. Blessings to you 💚
This was excellent! I learned about Beltane. And it was incredibly fun to learn. Your a great story teller. I rarely subscribe after one video. But I became hooked. I'm looking forward to your yoga classes too. Happy Beltane
The Maypole is most definitely not 'Celtic' in origin. If the Maypole was a 'Celtic' tradition we would expect to find it in Ireland, Wales and Scotland but, except for those areas of English influence, it is absent from those countries. And there is absolutely no evidence that the Maypole had anything to do with fertility or 'the union of macsculine and feminine energies' - it was simply a focal point for community celebrations of the coming warmer months. In fact the earliest reference to it in Britain is from the mid-14th century.
That’s right! Some sources say that it began as a tradition in 13th century Germany. As I said, the proliferation of the Maypole is a bit mysterious due to the cultural evolution of Europe and the British isles over many centuries.
hi my love 🥰 happy beltane ! watching this video again to inspire me today and it surely has. i’m so excited to celebrate. i wanted to put in my two cents as a celtic and pagan tantrika 🌺 today is an AMAZING day to indulge in pleasure practices and sacred sexuality. making a manifestation magik ritual through channeling sexual and creative energies can be one of the most powerful ways to attract all you desire in the coming months ✨ also it’s the first of the month so i recommend looking into cinnamon rituals to bless your entry way door to attract abundance in may. i love you 🫀
Oh my gosh thank you for this!! Always looking for more wisdom and so grateful for folks like you sharing what you know. I will look into an entryway cinnamon ritual! Beltane blessings!
Oh my gosh I knowwwww. 🤦🏼♀️ It was in my notes and I missed saying it in my list. I was going to notate the mistake on the screen and then I forgot to that too! This is my first time doing one of these videos. Definitely some kinks to work out. I appreciate you!
Synchronicity out the wazoo! Didn't even realize the date but had an urge to gather up a lot of wood blown down in last weekend's storm and have myself a big ol' bonfire tonight. My Irish ancestors must have been whispering to me. Nice talk, like your style. Just subbed.
Oh gosh that's awesome!! Welcome! Happy Beltaine to you. ✨ Someone was just asking me about the moon names in the southern hemisphere - if they are the same as the northern hemisphere.
