I only saw Rose for the first time earlier this year. I was absolutely blown away not only at how surprisingly mature the story was considering how ahead of its time the subject matter is, but also for its sheer beauty in spite of its limited animation. I wasn’t expecting to tear up nearly as often as this quintessential show made me. Modern Shojo owes everything to Rose, hell, even contemporary classics like Berserk clearly took heavy inspiration from this story. Can’t believe it isn’t talked about more in Western circles
At least in Italy it’s very very famous since the 80s. Every year on the 14th of july Oscar becomes a trending topic on Twitter here because a lot of people want to remember her death. Yes we were really touched by this anime 😂
I watched this in Arabic version when I was about 12 in 1990. This was such an instrumental thing at a difficult time in my life and I still look back to that time as one of the saddest & happiest childhoods and most interesting times of my life. Lady Oscar was such an inspiration.
Rose of Versailles was essentially about the slow death of France as Oscar knew it. And in the end, Oscar died along with that memory of France. Bastille fell, the crown fell, and the France would never be the same again. But you know what they say: there's beauty in death, especially for a rose. Oscar, and France, were quite the roses indeed. (And yes, technically "the Rose of Versailles" was Marie-Antoinette's nickname but you get the idea)
I’ve watched this historical anime in 2023. That made me creeps. Really impressive plot and old picture could make me cry. It is an old masterpiece. Lady Oscar as a young rose never die 🌹
I'm more of a seinen guy. I grew up with battle shounen, and then once I got into my late teens, generally drifted into hyperviolent and melodramatic works like Berserk, Shamo, Fourteen and Billy Bat. But Berubara is my indisputed Nr. 1, and read it for the first time when I was eighteen. Yes, Shamo and Billy Bat follow close behind, but there is something about Berubara which I cannot put my finger on, that is just a purely perfect work of fiction. Fascinating, beautiful characters with equally beautiful struggles and flaws, amazing music, and a slowly unwinding tragedy that is constantly placed inside the readers mind like a damocles sword. After all, following history, one knows this cannot end well. But, one constantly hopes, and prays, that Oscar and Andre will make it. As Andre describes the painting of Oscar in his minds eye, how he sees her, one slowly realises that, he at the very least, will not be a part of any happy ending, no matter how tiny it may be. And with Oscar's part in the Storm upon the Bastille, it all comes falling down. A beautiful tragedy. Adieu. Hell, I, a grown ass man, almost fainted when I saw an Oscar figure while in Akihabara. Naturally I purchased it.
You can't even imagine how important this anime is for us italian kids of the '80s-early '90s... how many tears cried... It will be impressed in our hearts FOREVER ❤
i agree entirely. It is a milestone for a generation. It has strongly shaped my own personality and core beliefs. Plus, I was raised in a similar family.
Beauty is truly a personal concept. When creating the video, I usually take care to include frames that have high cinematic value independent of the context. I am so glad that you like these choices. I hope every fan thinks like you 💖
@@burakscut I'm just glad there are people like you on YT, who make videos like this nowadays. I finished watching "The Rose..." recently and it touched me in so many ways, I can't even describe. More and more people should experience the beauty of this series - it's story has aged as fine as wine and remains among the most moving, daring and mature anime series ever made. To me, Lady Oscar is a rose that still blooms...
I did not remember that the Rose of Versailles had such good landscapes and shots, beyond the fact that I know they are animated. They remind me of Kubrick's Barry Lyndon movie.
This channel exists in order to show everyone all these beautiful landscapes and shots.🥺💖🥰 Its cinematography resembles that of Barry London. I realized when you said. It’s really interesting 🤔
I just love this series. I have rewatched this atleast 7 times. Saw it as a kid and then began rewatching few years prior now watching it once every year or two. Funny coindience that my name is Osku, which is short for Oscar in finnish
Lady Oscar is a huge part of my childhood and it’s still very much dear to me, thank you for this edit, it’s absolutely beautiful and brings me a lot of melancholy
As somebody who has been into anime from a very young age, Lady Oscar has something unique hard to find in other animes, something hard to describe but pierce the heart of those who found its beauty… I watched a lot of anime, of all kind, but this one is by far my Favorite… thanks for the edit and that specific OST is my favorite of the anime
Long AMVs are usually monotone, however, this one kept my gaze for those 5 minutes straight, every scene was placed carefully and it gave such a graceful effect. Thanks for your hardwork :)
Probably the most gorgeous looking AMV I've ever seen, and I've watched plenty of them. Congratulations for your work and commitment on showing how truly beautiful anime can be.
I was only able to watch Ashita no Joe. It was a really great story. I'm thinking of watching the other directors as well. It would make me very happy to include a work from him
Sorry, I can't give you name of a site because I don't want to get in trouble. But I'm sure you can find it easily on many sites. Of course, I suggest you watch it completely from "a legal site"
It is quite surprising for me that the video, which I did not expect anyone to watch, was watched the most. I think it happened because there weren't many videos made about it 🤔
Wowww I have heard this song by Lady Oscar on several piano versions. But this piano version beats all piano versions. This piano version is the best I've heard. Your piano version is incredibly beautiful and very soulful. It's emotional 😭😭😭❤️💖💖💖. I love your piano version very much 🤩💖😍❤️💕. It touched my heart a lot 😭❤️. Please perform another song from Lady Oscar ❤️
Thank you very much for your compliments. Regarding the video, only scene selection, synchronization and editing are mine. Music performed by @TeddyLEONGSHE. It would be better if you direct these beautiful compliments to him. You can find the link of the music in the description of the video.
It'll probably get me in trouble if I give a direct site name. I'm sure you can find a 1440x1080p restored version on the internet from "absolutely legal sites".
Puoi fare un video simile, traendone lo stesso spessore artistico,da opere dello stesso regista con altri anime simili. Remì o l'isola del tesoro per es.
My friend, I found your suggestion excellent but i must admit i don't consider myself capable enough to do it justice. This is the best video I can make about the series.(even this simple video contains a lot of mistakes and inexperience) I'm sure you can find a great channel to do justice to this excellent idea. I'm sorry if I disappointed you. I hope we get the chance to watch this great idea come to life
