This show reminded me of the pain of having the taste of hipster trash. This show is so amazing but it doesn't have the mainstream appeal to make the big bucks. Shoutout to those people in the industry keeping their vision despite all odds
That's what makes me appreciate it even more. They weren't afraid of making something so risky and stayed true to their story and honestly although it probably won't ever be really popular, I'm glad i got the chance to experience it.
@@xensenseiWhat's amazing is Sonny Boy essentially happened because Madhouse (the studio behind it) respected and trusted Shingo Natsume (who directed One Punch Man S1 and Space Dandy) so much they basically begged him to direct another anime and gave him full creative freedom. Boy, did he deliver :D
@@xensensei well I can't speak for the others but I'd definitely be proud of this video if I made it too, shame that with sonny boy's limited audience it probably won't get as much recognition as it deserves
Nice edit. I think sonny boy's art and aesthetics goes well with melancholic songs. I hope they can make an OVA where Nagara will still pursue his promise to Nozomi back when they were talking at the beach. Because seriously the ending is what we called an open ending or hanging. I want closure but if that is really the end then so be it.
That Nozomi is dead. The Nozomi back in the real world is a different person, no promise between them. It IS closure, even if it's not a "happy ending". The opennes is about the fact that the past is done, but the future is not, and Nagara is not stuck in apathy anymore just because things aren't as he hoped. Same goes for Mizuho. They both didn't magically change into super version of themselves, like in the other worlds, but they grow up a bit, took a big step towards adulthood acquiring some wiseness from that experience, aka the ability to cope with shit and other things in life.
Nagara's smile at the last frame was the happy ending for me. It's just Mizuho said, after what happened in the adrift worlds Nagara has a drive to find his own future. I can understand wanting more, but in my interpretation I dont think it's necessary to show him finding solace with reuniting with Nozomi or finding happiness in general. After seeing his growth, you know he's capable of achieving whatever he decides to do and that's why he smiles.
Damn, very nice video showing some of the best looking bits of the series. Congrats! Definitely a very unique show and this song really fits the mood for the vid.
Im 12 recently i have watched sonny boy because i was captivated by its artstyle and how some scenes looked and it intrigued me so i watched it. never made a better decision in my life besides this so far. in my opinion my favourite anime but the ending made me have mixed feelings but I love this anime even though I understand it halfway 💬!!!
My first viewing of the ending felt like a gut punch, but I couldn't stop thinking about it. I watched it again and again and each time, I began to feel a little more that this ending was utterly brilliant.
