I agree with you so much the base is critical in all musical groups. It is the one you think you don't hear but if it was missing it would all sound like a bunch of tinging symbols. Thanks for bringing that out, awesome!
Great song becomes amazing when Robin takes lead. So great. The number of incredible songs written and performed by them is unbelievable. Music isn't the same these days.
You nailed it. They ARE a joy to listen to... and your reviews are a joy to watch. This was the music of our youth. These truly WERE the good ole days.
@@lynnepashley4281 Personally, I like both. But Robin's voice certainly had something extra special. His voice on the chorus of For Whom The Bell Tolls never fails to give me goosebumps. Just thinking about it now is giving them to me.
Listen to the whole album in one sitting called bee gees " one night only" it has this song in the album from 1998. When I got this CD I could play the entire cd for at least 7 times over and over in one sitting for hours house cleaning, exercising. cooking etc.. Trust!
They sing with such ease, hands in pockets, so relaxed, harmonies just fall out of their mouths. Little did they know in under 10 years Barry would be alone. I guess we hope our talented people would always be with us. Mortality awaits us all, R.I.P. twins.
@@kaylariad Wasn't completely sure, I lived in the Alaska bush country for years, local radio didn't play this song until early 2000s, I didn't even hear of their passings for quite a while after Robin died. I was so sad to hear.
There will Never be another group like The Bee Gees, they were unique & special, so very talented with Perfect Three Part Harmony every time, every song!!! Nobody has a voice like Robin Gibb & they never will, or Barry’s Falsetto & Mo’s smooth baritone, it all comes together so beautifully! I love it & always will. ♥️♥️♥️👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👍🏻
I seen Robin Gibb in Heathrow Airport once, he was standing a couple of meters away from me. He had his sunglasses on and looked like he didn’t want to be hassled. I never approach famous people I try and act normal even though I’m freaking out inside 😂
Christopher Carter I so agree. IMO, they were under appreciated during their heyday. I know they sold millions but it was almost a sacrilege to prefer them over the Beatles when they first came out, and later during their disco phase, rockers slammed them for their music. Yet they survived and thrived and outlasted the Beatles! I’ve always loved them. So glad Jayvee does too!
@@rosemary702001 You're right, but I always liked them much more than the Beatles. And I love their Disco phase too. How could you not like that music?
Everyone thinks they only did disco and they got a bad rap for that. Just goes to show you how narrow minded people are instead of educating themselves.
I love the Bee Gees, I think it's fair to say they are my favorite group. BUT, "Voice in the Wilderness" from the album This is Where I Came In is....quite bad.
At this point in their musical journey their voices had matured and they had honed their craft to another level. The writing, the production, everything was at the point where it all came together like magic. Which it indeed was.
So awsome to see a reaction video of a later Bee Gees song. 5 decades of Bee Gees, each has brilliant songs by them. All sound different, yet always recognizable as the Bee Gees. I just wonder when someone will react to the Bee Gees song 'Rings around the moon'. That would be so awsome!
Joy is certainly the word that describes them.. "For Whom The Bell Tolls" is one of so many favorites... one of the videos features them singing outside in New York City, with their voices soaring beautifully over the waters, and the Twin Towers and Statue of Liberty in the background... Robin's voice shines !!
I have seen a lot of reaction videos and you are probably the most authentic one doing this. You can’t fake being genuine about the music. Hats off to you young man.
Thank you so much, J, for doing another Bee Gee's song! I can't get enough of their music, either. There was just something SO special about these guys. And it goes beyond the obvious talent. They HAD something. It was magic; that's the only word I can think of that describes it best. By the way...I don't know if you even noticed or not, throughout this video, that there were clips mixed in of what looked like someone's home movies. And it was. It was THEM, when they were kids. There are several different documentaries here on RU-vid about their lives and career. They're ALL good, and give you a great insight into their lives through the years, and their music. You should check it out when you can. Thanks again for this reaction. Loved it!
the photos of them as younger boys, all when they lived in Oz. We love them so here, particularly Brisbane where they lived. We have a Bee Gees Walk in their honour at Redcliffe on Moreton Bay Brisbane
All three of them wrote it. They almost always wrote together and Maurice discusses writing it in one of the videos of Immortality. Barry and Maurice had tissues. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-gms2njBw8Xw.html
@Diana Gero Yes. I heard it too. The long version of the making of the video Immortality shows Barry with tissues and tears and Maurice grabbing a tissue as well. I just cry every time I hear it.
Yes NJ, I requested the same song, Maurice had a beautiful voice but he stayed in the background most of the time. I love "Closer than Close " it gave us a chance to hear what he really sounded like. A true classic group 🥰
@@lisawilliams9504 He was my favorite. The other two were always battling for top spot. He was always 'the man in the middle." He sang high harmony. He had a great falsetto. You can see that in the 1975 version of Nights on Broadway. He just didn't get a chance to show his talents like the other two.
@@introvert4everfreddy656 You are absolutely right about this song/video, yes. I was answering Dave's comment/request about the "One"-song that he mentioned in his post. :)
One will never get tired of something/someone that they TRUELY LOVE & I see u as a TRUE fan, so..... u NEVER will tire of them! I'm 53 yrs old & I'm not even close to getting tired of them; NEVER GONNA HAPPEN. I ABSOLUTELY ADORE THE BEE GEES!!!
So glad you are checking out late era Bee Gees. They hold up. "This Is Where I Came In" from their final album is a must. Same with "Man In The Middle", if you want some Mo singing lead.
Hold on Man, hold on! You just stumbled upon a Bee Gees song that I never recall hearing before! I must have been busy discovering the Internet back then, LOL. Great song!
I love that song too. I dont know of any song of theirs that i didnt love. As for hearing Robin's voice he did more of the songs in the early to mid 70's. I have to admit he is my favorite. Check out the concert that they did in Melbourne, Australia in 1974. You could get clips of songs in that concert that Robin sang lead in and they are wonderful. I cant see nobody, Massachusetts, I started a joke and many more in that concert that i would love to see your reaction.
Robin is second to none!! That voice gives me chills every time. They all sing great but when someone can make you have cold chills with their voice, thats special.
I'm 72 years old J it just makes my heart smile to see you react to the bee gees like you do. I love them and when young people learn to love them it keeps them alive to us old people.bee gees forever
The Bee Gees brothers will go down in History as one of the greatest recording and song writing groups ever to have graced our world . God Bless you boys xxxx
I have loved this song since the first time I heard it!! You should watch their concert from Las Vegas in the 90s. They sing all their songs. Great concert!! ❤️🎵
the whole Beegees music catalogue 😱 - you can spend more than two years for that, 😆 because @Jayvee it is the biggest in the music industry - more than 1000 tracks ( 36 #1 hits around the globe - more than 200 top-ten hits International and after The Beatles, Elvis & Michael Jackson the best selling artists - so enjoy your enthusiasm for good music and wait more to see from you 👍🍾
I loved all the songs you reacted to tonight (especially Ambrosia), but when you react to a Bee Gees' song, I always save it to watch last, for my "Dessert"!
SO HAPPY!! Your getting to some of their newer stuff! This song is so freat! I love the way they layer the vocals and your right! Even though the lyrics are about being alone and unrequited love, the upbeat tempo is just HAPPY! I told you a couple of times that you would really love their newer stuff. Barry is STILL recording but with his sons and Maurices daughter Samantha. Still writing great music. Barry will be 74 on Sept. 1st, which is also his 50th Wedding Anniversary! A WELL LIVED LIFE! Its time to hear a Maurice song! His voice is also beautiful, and is the melodic foundation of all their songs. Barry said it this way, Maurice was an EXPERT harmonizer. He always found the perfect pitch to complimant Robin and Barrys pitch. People dont often realize that alot of the falsetto parts were MAURICE! You picked up on it in "Nights on Broadway". Thats why I suggested that you might want to watch live performances so you coulds see who was singing which parts. In the 70's the Bee Gees started working with a famous producer, Arif Mardin, who asked them if any of them could "Scream" in tune, lol! THAT is how Barry discovered he could sing entire songs in falsetto! Try one of these, "Man in the Middle", Maurice wrote it partly about how he was always the middle guy, the peacemaker between Barry and Robin who at times would were competitive growing up. "Closer Than Close" a modern grown up sensous love song. Maurice Maurice was never given the due he deserved. He played MANY instruments and wrote songs as well, and his voice was beautiful. Trivia, NONE of the Gibbs could read or write music! EXTRODINARY!
Im very glad you have many reactions to Bee Gees songs, you cannot imaginé how i LOVE these men for the last 40 years . For me they are the greatest....( Try to listen the song dont fall in LOVE)
When you listen to the bee gees, see how many great songs they have produced for themselves and others and how many of their songs have been covered and listen to how unique and great their voices are, along with their flawless harmonies. You realise The Bee Gees are truly out of this world. There are levels to the music business and the Bee Gees stand Alone 🙌🏻❤️
After all those years and all those songs, this ended up being my favorite. When Robin comes in, it actually brings tears ... one of the most beautiful musical passages ever committed to a microphone. That, and the fact that it brought me all the way back to "Holiday". Wisftul.
Debra Simmoms it is so sad! I think I left the same sentiment in a comment for J on another of his Bee Gees reactions. This has always been one of my favorites of theirs, but now it tugs at my heart when I hear it.
Finally. I've been asking for this one for a while, so I was super excited to see it pop up. Now for all the others I've been asking for: You Win Again, One, Run To Me, For Whom the Bell Tolls and This Is Where I Came In.
OMG... I have been requesting the same two songs!!!! Robin's voice is so beautiful. These two particular songs really showcase his talent. So one more time... Please give 'Rings Around the Moon' and 'For Whom the Bell Tolls'. You will love them both. If you are a Bee Gees fan and you haven't heard either song, give them a listen. 🇨🇦 Luv from Canada
It was a true pleasure to see you enjoy this song. You really did enjoy it. You have reacted to two of my favourite BeeGees songs To Love Somebody (1967) and Alone (1997). Alone is like nothing I've heard before - maybe it's the bagpipes. Robin's part is sublime. In that video, I saw a clip from their first big hit (in Australia) called spics and specks (meaning bits and pieces). It is a great song and even has a video where they are so very young. Would be great if you checked it out. It couldn't be more catchy.
By far one of my favorite songs by the Bee Gees, Maurice didn't have many solos but he had a voice, "Closer than Close " he does a wonderful solo, please do a reaction to that song. Thank you 🤗
Every time I hear you say how much you enjoy listening to them so many of us know exactly how you feel Jayvee. To listen to them sing brings joy to my heart too, I love every song from them and I really don't think that they sang or wrote a bad song. My husband and I have spent many hours listening to them and when I have a bad night (like tonight) when the arthritic pain keeps me awake I listen to them and I can relax. I may not sleep until I am exhausted but I can enjoy my time with their wonderful music. God bless you all, peace love and hugs to you all Mary-Ellen UK
Robin’s voice is just so HAUNTINGLY beautiful! I SO enjoy your videos brutha! I rarely leave my house anymore due to extreme PTS related anxiety, and it is extremely refreshing to see your reactions to these wonderful older songs! On a side note, I was speaking with Bobby Hatfield’s(Righteous Brothers) daughter and one of his son’s recently and she and he just loved your reaction to Bobby’s live 1965 performance of “Unchained Melody”!
Your reaction to Robin at 5:21. I absolutely love it. I love the way you love The Bee Gees. Been waiting a while for you to do this song. Thank you. Robin Gibb❤️❤️❤️
You see the brothers doing all those things together on the videos, and then you think about Barry , alone due to the loss of all his brothers. They gave us a blessing in their music. Love those guys.
@Diana Gero I am fond of all of them but he swallowed things for the sake of the group. You might Google his interview with Lynn Redgrave which is about 30 minutes. Very insightful. Lovely man and family.
Thanks, Javon, for another great reaction! Love that you love our boys! Every reaction has been just awesome. Hoping you react to some of Robin's leads soon from the late 60's and early 70's like "I Can't See Nobody" and "And the Sun Will Shine". So many great songs to choose from during this era. You won't be disappointed choosing any Bee Gees song to react to, I promise!
So glad you reacted to this song , this is one of my fave song of BEE GEES and i so love Robin`s solo part , its amazing . The music is really great , the harmonies too . Really miss Robin . Thanks for sharing and reacting . Hope you do react on Robin`s JULIET and BOYS DO FALL IN LOVE . Thank You .
The Bee Gees were outstanding and wrote some iconic songs not just for themselves but for man, many others. They were the first group in the UK to have a top twenty hit over five decades. It's hard to single out any of their songs as good or bad as ther were all great. Worth checking out is "Emotion" a song they wrote for Samantha Sang. Her version was big in the club scene and still sounds good today. They hit the number 1 spot five times in the UK between 1967 and 1987 and hit the number 1 spot eight times in the States between 1975 and 1975 mainly due to the success of the movie Saturday Night Fever. The soundtrack album hit number 1 but was not attributed to the Bee Gees as it was a various artists album.
I love seeing your reaction to hearing a good Bee Gees song for the first time. Check out "Odessa (City on the Black Sea)", it is from their most critically acclaimed album, "Odessa" and it is truly epic.
The Bee Gees will always be No.1! You can check out "Sensuality", "Love never dies", "No doubt"... some with Robin's voice. We really enjoy your reactions, thnx :-)
They don’t have a bad song! Check out “Bodyguard.” It’s one of their most beautiful songs and features Robin and Barry equally. And then you should do “Love So Right” which is Barry at his best.
So happy you are finding the "newer" recordings. Haven't listened yet, but pleased. So many others as I've listed, "For Whom the Bell Tolls" and "This is Where I Came In" both video versions first if you don't mind. Thank you sir. Be safe.
Thanks for the reaction. I don’t know if a bad song. Immortality” with Celine Dion is great. “Tragedy” The Man in the Middle” One” you still got a lot to cover. I say The Bee Gees was the greatest singing group there ever was. They can do it all sing, write🔥
