Man, that drum fill *never* gets old. Sounds as incredible now as it did when it was released in 1981. And its use in the first episode of Miami Vice singlehandedly changed the course of TV. The song is epic.

I agree! But I’m glad he reacts to all of the masters from back then now, so even if he didn’t get to see them live like we did, at least he still gets to enjoy the performances now. AND at the same time keeps the memory of all the great ones alive. Actually, that is the most important aspect of reaction videos like yours, Jayvee, keeping the memory alive, and perhaps even getting others from the younger generation interested in the old school masters as well. So keep it up. For us older generation people who grew up with Phil, MJ, and the likes, it is a nostalgic trip down memory lane. Thank you for your videos. 💚🙏😊

I've watched this performance by the incredible Phil Collins so many times tonight, just to see the reactions .... it doesn't fail. I adore that these younger people are getting to see what we got enjoy at very important times in our young lives (well young, back then anyway). Plus I just discovered on another thread what this songs means ... ghost Lee Phil Collins used to be the drummer for the group Genesis When he went solo this was his 1st single as a solo artist in 1981. People have speculated the meaning of the song.but he cleared it up on the Jimmy Fallon show. He said it's about going thru a divorce. He said people were taking the song too literal and not looking beyond the words.

The version you picked is not just a "song", its a performance and a piece of art! I´ve heard it first in my early 20s and the drum solo blew me away! A few weeks later I´ve seen it on TV in the "Miami Vice"tv series and the implementation of a song into a scene of a tv series was the best I´ve ever seen because it really seemed to "fit" and both-the song and scene seemed to enhance each other. It somehow seemed as if the song was especially written for that scene and the scene was especially choreographed for that song.

You made my heart so happy with your reaction to this song ♥️ Phil is my absolute favourite artist and this is my all time favourite song! I had the pleasure of seeing him live in concert and I wasn’t expecting him to jump on the drums at this iconic part of the song - it blew me and the crowd away!!! I still get chills remembering that moment. Thank you for reacting to this song 🙏🏻😍🤍

There are SO many songs Collins has done, including work for Disney's Tarzan. Probably my favorite and most thought provoking is Land of Confusion (Genesis). For a lot of fun - Sussudeo (Collins solo). I suggest Peter Gabriel (former front man to Genesis before Collins took over) and Salsbury Hill. Then I suggest from his So album Big Time and Sledge Hammer. Oh and did we mention Collins was and remained the principal drummer of Genesis for many years. A multi talented musician.

Phil Collins used to be the drummer for the group Genesis When he went solo this was his 1st single as a solo artist in 1981. People have speculated the meaning of the song.but he cleared it up on the Jimmy Fallon show. He said it's about going thru a divorce. He said people were taking the song too literal and not looking beyond the words. I'm not a drummer's shoelace and yet every time I see or hear this, I'm air drumming with the very best of them!❤️

Phil Collins is awesome and he has some drum solos that give me goosebumps all over. He truly has amazing talents on the drums among a unique voice that never gets old. I've been listening to him since he became the singer for the band "Genesis" back in the 70's. He is amazing at the drums.

Unfortunately, you may never be able to see him like this. He had some serious medical issues and subsequent physical setbacks that has rendered him unable to play the drums. He now needs a cane and performs on stage sitting down. His son is his touring drummer.

@@mandyatterbury5408 Phil was and still is a drumming idol of mine. I guess you could say I am a FanBoy. He has always been very underappreciated as a drummer. His work in Genesis is enough to put him in the elite category..IMHO; not to mention his solo and freelance body of work.

He wrote the song to call out a liar. A man went to the papers and everyone. They claimed they were drowning, and shouted for help. And Phil casually walked off. It all turned out to be a pile of shit. Trying to get money out of him.
