Beena has been making quality fountain pens for a long time. I still use a few of their school pens from the 80s and 90s. They are generally well-balanced, reliable writers.
Nice! What a stately looking pen. I have a Beena Magic, it’s their take on a safety pen, sort of. It takes international cartridges, and what looks like a piston is actually a mechanism that retracts the nib into the section. They make lovely, inexpensive pens and have done so for a long time.
Nice looking pen. You'll enjoy your Majohn stub if it's anything like mine. Very smooth and none of the grabiness some stubs show if you get off the right angle. My P136 stub is fairly narrow, which I like. It's a stub and adds character while still allowing small writing.
Nice review James. A typical decent looking larger sized black pen. I like the fact that the piston can be removed for cleaning without a wrench! I may have to think about getting one, but for now, I'd like to get the Kanwrite Mammoth X when it's available. New pens I got today, a Pelikan Epoch P361, a cartridge only pen, and a Jinhao 51A. The 51A is the hooded nib model with a very nice extra fine nib!!
This is a very attractive pen, James. I do not own any V-Sign / Beena pens, but this is certainly a contender. Do you have to order directly or do you know of a distributor in the US? Shipping could increase the cost of the pen significantly. I like the ease of maintenance for this pen and the ink window is substantial for sure. The writing experience seems also excellent. The only other President I own is from Platinum. It is a fabulous writer. If there is a drawback to it is the lack of capacity. If it was a piston filler, it would be perfect, which is why this pen is so attractive to me. Thank you for the review. Oh, your quote appears for less than a second. I had to replay the ending a number of times to read it.
I love the TWSBI Eco. It’s been a durable, dependable writer, at an affordable price. I also like the Majohn P139 fountain pen. It’s a brilliant, well balanced writer. With both of these you get a lot of pen for the money. I don’t own any Wing Sung pens, but will purchase one someday. Good luck, and happy writing.
I have and like both the 699 and Eco. It's the Eco, though, that I find myself using the most. As to others, there are several models from PenBBS that are in that range, if you find a style you like (the 456 is an excellent vac-filler, for example). I'm having good luck with the Asvine pens as well, and they are right in that window, too.
