So Street Fighter 6 is here, and many people are not only perhaps playing their first Street Fighter, but their first Fighting Game period, so here is a beginners guide to help you out! So this video is here to help you understand the many aspects of Street Fighter, and SF6 specifically! So lets go over the gameplay systems and the basics, and hope this video helps you out!
I’ve been playing street fighter for a long time just never seriously. I mainly love it for the lore and characters but with this game I would love to learn! Amazing video!
@@rooflemonger lol my head hurts from frame data trying to learn ken cause they say he is easy to understand and not my frst fighting game but always played on instinkt on mk but it is street fighter ny frst
This is just about the gold standard for making introductory content and it will definitely contribute to SF6's growth. Well practiced, well scripted, engaging and packed full of information that is absorbed easily. I was never more lost than having to run it back 10 seconds to rewatch something and understand. Beginners to SF6 who are watching this have it good. Great video, man!
Watching this felt like I was in the backseat of my parents car, driving home after going to the mall, and reading the game manual being so excited to get home and play. Thank you for this.
are you using modern controls? I’m new, I actually started on SFV a few months ago because I wanted to have the basics for 6 but I got rusty. Modern seems kind of appealing but I’m not sure on it
@@gutfrets1693 its mostly going to be character dependent. Some characters will work amazing with modern and some wont. Because you lose around 40% of your moves when using modern.
I really appreciate stuff like this. I think the FGC really forgot people new to fighting games don't understand your "beginner" guide when you start using lingo like 6HK, 56MP, plus 1, etc.
Great video. It contained soo much stuff I did not even realize was there. For me as still beginner I would love a video dedicated on how to actually do it in practise. As in, what is the best way to go about in training mode to actually improve. Since there is soooo much stuff it's rather overwhelming. Also some tips and tricks on timing of combos in layman's terms would be amazing. 😊
Honestly is it really that different from how it ever was? I mean originally I think the limiter was more cause you didn't have the game in your house but past that it's not that different from anything else takes practice and muscle memory.
I remember watching your SFV guide which got me into fighting games. It was really great quality at not only explaining the game mechanics but also just how to play the game with neutral and ect. It’s cool to see you help new players with the next era/game of street fighter.
For some time I've always just watched friends or other people play fighting games and was too hesitant to pick it up myself. I enjoy watching your guides and have been for some time now as it lets me understand the mindset and the work that goes into actually playing. With Street Fighter 6, I decided I'm taking the plunge and jumping right in! Thank you for your hard work and coverage as always rooflemonger!
@@HaykInWonderland Its been going alright, learning what I can (very) slowly while playing online matches with some friends here and there. One of the things I realized was that I don’t like using pad whatsoever, at least for fighting games. Decided to go for an all button leverless controller (Snack Box Micro) as I feel it’d be much easier on my thumbs - I tend to put a bit too much pressure.
Just gotta remember that most arcade gamers in the early 90s didn't even have guides or training modes. It was all just trial & error plus word-of-mouth. The key is finding opponents at your own skill level so that you can learn together. Hopefully, the AI difficulty levels are much more accurate these days.
Rooflemonger, the channel where I can put a like on a video before even having seen it yet and it's still turning out to be true in the end. Such reliable quality content.
I really hope Capcom treats content creators like you well. Guides like this make getting into SF so much more easy and fun. Also the effort that went into the 'how to choose your main' video blew my mind. Great stuff!
It’s crazy how quickly you’ve got this all down and so clear and concise. As someone coming back to the franchise after a decade, this is so appreciated!
I haven't played Street fighter since the late '80s and within the first 3 minutes I heard three game changing things about Street fighter 6. You did a great job with this video. Thank you so much!
This is exactly what I need. Guilty Gear Strive was the most recent fighting game i've played since I was a kid (used to play a ton of MK3). Picking up SF6 feels so alien.
I never usually comment on your videos but I watch practically all of them and I have to say, thanks for all the Street Fighter 6 content. I've played SF in the past but this is the first one I'm actually getting into competitively. I'm a Lily main and although I tend to never use grapplers, I'm more of a zoner, I want to thank you for your character roster overview as it helped solidify me maining her. You're doing great work with this content, keep it up!
As someone who really got into fighting games this year and wanted to learn street fighter, but was extremely overwhelmed, thank you for making this. What a thoroughly thought out and well organized guide/tutorial, you've earned a sub for sure!
Long time MK player here. I ended up being not so inspired by MK1 and have been SO EXCITED by Aki!! She's the most unique fighting character I've seen lately. Thinking about trying SF but have no experience with it and it seems really intimidating. Thank you for breaking things down to make the possible jump to SF much less scary. You are so in depth and a great teacher.
I'm the kind of player who struggles with 4 unique inputs in a combo during a combo trial and forget combos entirely when I'm in a match. The core fundamentals of fighting games is what I'm struggling with. Just to be able to use the inputs I want to use without any mistakes is rare. I know that's something I should be able to overcome with enough practice, but it's kind of hard to practice when everyone I meet is learning mechanics unique to SF6 like the drive gauge and its uses while I'm figuring out how to move where I want to and use the moves I want to. This video was very informative and I know I should be able to use all this information soon. Thank you :)
thank you so much for this. i'm not new to fighting games and i've been playing them for 15 years but it's still always good to have a refresher and some rooflemonkey insight. you're doing the lords work here
I remember a time where I had to buy official capcom magazines to find move tutorials, frame data and combos. Thanks for making something that's going to be very helpful to many new SF fans
Truly wonderfull video, it realy gives you the heads up on the general flow of the game for those that never played street while also eases people that never played a fighter before, your guides are realy above the rest. Great job brother!!
Thanks a lot for the guide through SF6s mechanics but still make it easily understandable. As a Tekken player looking for something different now and then, this guide is exactly what I needed to start my Street Fighter 6 side quest.
@@aeriagloris4211 Focus on her normal moves/ex moves 1st. Try turning off button check/button input (this is supposed to make inputs/combos easier or so I've been told). You can also try turning on input delay reduction (do research on this one I've heard different opinions on it). Lastly study chun li's frame data. This guide was pretty helpful for me. I suck at fighting games/combos but I think I'll get the hang of it with this game. I'm gonna try to learn chun li and Cammy at the same time. Good luck
Just got sf6, it gives me a much more fun vibe than the other fighting games and I needed a guide to understand the basics. Thanks for the time you invested for us mate 🙏🏻
An hour long "beginners guide"... 😂 Great stuff.. 👍 Will be checking out all your character guides as usual.. One of the most in depth character channels on the tube.. 👍
I’ve been trying to get into fighting games after playing smash for a little (semi competitively, I’ve gone to a handful of locals and a regional event but not much else) and your tekken video was a big help when I tried to jump into that game and this video is just as solid. Thanks for all the high quality info that doesn’t require a fgc dictionary to understand
I appreciate how much detail went into this video. Never played street fighter so learning the inputs and links will be pretty difficult to execute. But I know if I continue to practice and return back to this guide, it will become easier after some time. Appreciate this 👍🏽
This was fantastic i just watched EVO and didn't know what on earth is going on, old man retired in 2009 makes me 49 super helpful and thank you for your time and effort...
its mind boggling to me how this guy has such an in depth understanding of the game mechanics. I mean it just came out. No only that he can so effortlessly execute all these combos.I could play for months and only be able to execute a couple combos with just 1 character. On top of all that he explains it all so well and is such a great speaker. I am a fan.
Ive been an avid street fighter spectator for the last few years but could never get into actually playing it. So excited to dive in and learn the nitty gritty with 6. Its great to see the community rise up and try to make it feel that much more approachable. On a side note, is there a good place to meet up with other beginners ir slightly more advanced players to learn? Edit: The two characters I wanted to put time into were Juri and Manon. I've now cleared Manon's trials and I'm stuck on Juri's last trial. Both were so much fun though.
well there is all sorts of resources like reddit and twitter where there is tons of beginners all looking to improve. Plus right now ground floor just messing around in battle hub you will find tons of folks finding their way. There is no real wrong answer in just moving forward, lots of people are in the same boat.
This is gonna sound weird, but this early, ranked mode is actually the best way to fight people just as clueless as we are. There's plenty of new players, so you'll at least feel like you're playing the video game.
Bro, I've been "playing " fighting games for three decades now and never understood frame data....till now. I just thought my execution was horrible. Ty so much
why is it so rare to find good content in fgc for actual BEGINNERS like not beginners for sf6 BUT FIGHTING GAMES. anyways I subbed instantly and love this video! keep it up you’re doing the lords work!
Coming from a lifelong Tekken player ( myfirst SF game) that came into this with a bit of hubris; learning right off the bat that this is a 6 button game immediately destroyed that confidence! Extremely concise yet in-depth and well structure video dude. Ya got a like out of me, thank you.
has anyone ever told you, you sound like Neil deGrasse Tyson? instead of teaching me about the universe you're teaching me about fighting games, super helpful video
I’m a Tekken and MK player and this is my first real street fighter game I’m learning and this is by far the best video helping me understand the game as a whole Thankyou.
I only watched the first 3 minutes of the video but already have learnt so much! This is what beginners need! Thanks so much for making this! Liked and subscribed!
You are amazing. Im not a begginner in fighting games at all and this video is super useful even for people that are new to the genre. Im gonna show this to some friends that are starting with fighting games in SF6!
Bro this was Beautifully orchestrated ! From a NRS gamer getting my hands on SF6 for the first time this was more then enough to get cranking ! Well done bro!
Rooflemonger you just highlighted how brilliant this system is. It's going to take a while for me to grasp drive combos because I still can't just do what I want leading to dropped combos. Things like knowing what super art levels combo off of isn't explained ANYWHERE else. I'm really impressed how Streetfighter retools it's fight system every generation.
Bro your amazing you’ve literally made combos way easier to understand thank you. I’m old and acquired an arcade stick about 2 months ago and just got sf6. I’m getting destroyed online. Thanks for helping the beginners
As someone who is getting into fighting games seriously for the first time with SF6, I've found this guide to be extremely helpful. I also chuckled a bit when the parry section came up and the characters on screen were Ken and Chun Li
Thank you for this, Roofle! I haven't played a fighting game since like the first few months of SFV, and I was a huge USF4 fan. This new game looks awesome but also has so many new mechanics, this video really helps to grasp everything
I been waiting for this since they announced the game, now Roof going to teach us (beginners at sf) also, thanks a lot man, I'm advance at dbfz because of you and now looking forward to be a good player at sf6 also 🎉🔥🔥
Wow, I’ve played street fighter and have been terrible at it since I was in grade school. This video is amazing and taught me soooo much. Thank you for being an absolute badass and for making it all make perfect sense. You’re the best.
I really appreciate the section on combos is more about the theory of how to build a combo in SF6 as opposed to showing specific combos for a character. Understanding the fundamental concepts is absolutely invaluable to a beginner that wants to try and learn the game more on their own! Thank you!
This was a great video Roof! One thing about the combos, I believe you can also cancel into level 2 supers from normals. There is a Blanka trial that goes into his level 2 from a standing HP.
Always helped watching your guides a couple years after they would come out when i would pick a game up. Glad to finally be here for the start of one. Thanks for all the hard work
