I wonder if shooting at the Myoko near the end just alerted the enemies on the cap. Still a good effort. Will have to upgrade this guy and try out the build
Totally agree with your assessment. Have the Benham but rarely play it. Gleaves is a real shot in the arm for this destroyer. When I got a look at his skills and base trait immediately took Gleaves to 14/2. Wouldn't use him on any other destroyers, but Benham is a viable contender now with this commander on the bridge. So I bought it yesterday for gxp and complete satisfaction! Right in the first battle, I took down four ships and liked this murderous machine ... it's a pity he doesn't have radar, then it would be invincible! Now i have detection on 5,1km and torpedo range 8,7km :)
I’ve used him on the Fletcher and he is actually pretty good. Giving up twist and track isn’t that bad since the extra concealment means other DDs won’t out spot you by enough where they can flee. The slower reload isn’t even noticeable.
Thanks for the video Xarkun. Following your advice, made the commander change but with Atago as an inspiration instead of Jerry. Played one game with 4 kills. Benham is fun to play!
Smith, Wickes, Clemson, Benham = Gleaves. Agree on the inspiration 💯. Said the same thing on Reddit and got a bunch of lectures on how inspirations work, but no one bothered to actually pose a counter argument.
I was unsure about the utility of Gleaves but took a chance on lvl 11. Great googly moogly! I'd a huge stash of resources and took him to 16/3; my USN DD's are the Oppenheimer fleet, now! Sorry, Boss Dewey - you only get to play on Kidd.
I don't mind the reduced torp range from PC, but why did they have to newter the torp damage so much? Landed some torps on a Massa, less than 4k damage per torp. They seem to have balanced it as though most of your 16 torps will hit, when that really isn't the case, due to spread at range. Just another case of WG nerfing some ships a bit too much when tiering it down for legends.
Maybe not. Although he could potentially be a good inspiration for Tanaka on Yudachi or Shima was screamer torps. Also Kamikaze if you want to be evil.
I definitely prefer the German torpedo boats but this is my favorite one over all. Don't get me wrong I like the low concealment and high torpedo speed, range, and damage of the Japanese destroyers but they have horrible guns. I just don't like the feeling of being helpless if I get spotted
I never didn't use this DD. I probably have over 100 games in it. I don't care about range on 59knt torps. The detectability buff is good stuff. I used Gleaves for a bit went back to Bull Halsey. I'm glad people ate enjoying Gleaves.
I'm nearly at 500k gxp and was wondering if I should get this as I've already got atago and tirpitz from its campaign so I think this should be the next best pick
@@Xarkun yeah already got Atlanta from back in the day lol, so yeah probably gonna get benham then, I was thing of getting eugen but there isn't enough of a difference from hipper to justify 750k gxp
