Madonna di San Benedetto! E' vero`~~Perfect and brilliant..can't stop laughing~~!! The cast were the best and so very genuine! AND, the kids all spelled the "woids" correctly! Such wonderful memories brought back to me ~~Keep em' coming~~Know what I mean? I was born in Brooklyn, family from Naples, they worked hard, bought a grocery store in Greenpoint, Brooklyn, sold provolone and sausage, even MADE the sausage, bought a house, then a farm in Greenlawn, on Long 'Giland"~~And grandpa spoke only Italian...remember the final scene from the Godfather, when he sprayed the tomatoes ? My grandpa Angelo! At the farm, I was in charge of pumping the water from the well, while Grandma made Ziti and Sausages, and Great Grandma Anna carried baskets of potatoes on her head, at age 85, to bring to the garage! And the 3 uncles all played guitars and sang songs from the old country, and dancing under the grape arbor...Yes, times were special then...I am so blessed to come from this tribe! Carmel Rivello~~Gratzie a tutti ! Remember,Laughter is the shortest distance between two souls!~~ Mammacarm

Born and raised in Brooklyn. I normally speak with a strong code switch, especially at work, but when I am tired or upset sometimes my Brooklyn accent comes out... "Sangwitch" "Battroom" "Fi Dollars" "Tree" "Putz" (Yiddish word) "Schlep" (Yiddish word) The way I pronounce consanants and vowels changes too. My girlfriend loves it when my accent will switch to Brooklyn lol I have gradually gotten used to her fondness of it and have learned to be less insecure about it.

From Italy? This is a true story: my Italian teacher in high school spoke a classic northern Italian. We had a new student join the class straight from Pontelandolfo who spoke virtually no English. Our teacher spent about 10 minutes trying to speak to him in both Italian and English with no success. The teacher put his head in his hands and said (paraphrasing) "my God, you can't speak either English or Italian..." That was 50 years ago and I still laugh when I think of it.

I thought this was classic. I'm a 1/2 Italian 1/2 Irish Brooklyn girl who found this hysterical. Anyone who finds THIS offensive or thinks it's an insult to Italians should really consider moving into a bubble! If you say you're from Brooklyn (or any other borough) and weren't related to or knew someone who spoke like this, then you lived a sheltered life! This was perfection and good for a laugh! Mincchia...quit being "stoonad" or an overly sensitive "mamaluke" and allow yourself to laugh...quite possibly at yourself!

I am 100% Italian and I find this hilarious. Our Italian sense of humor is based on making fun of everything and everybody, ourselves first. I grew up in Brooklyn near Bensonhurst and have Italian parents who were both born in Italy. The only thing I was really offended by here was the inaccuracy of the time it takes to simmer marinara sauce. Usually it only takes 15 min since it's more of a fresh tomatoey sauce. Ragu or what some call "gravy" is what cooks for a while. But my mom told me 2-3 hours max with the pork, meatballs, etc. Funny skit though!

My biggest regret in The Sopranos : we never had a scene between Paulie and the Dr. Melfi. It would have been the greatest scene of all time

I'm not Italian, but I had relatives on my mother's side who were Italian-American. I would tease them about "You make-a da Sunday gravy, anh?". They took it all in fun, but they reminded me that it's sauce, not gravy. And they said that even when it's made with meat, it's sauce.

My mother was born in Italy. I have nine aunts and uncles just on my mother's side of the family and all the cousins that come along with a family that big. In my thirties I moved from the neighborhood and to another state for a job/career with a major airline. I am in my sixties now, but when I was in my forties I got called out on saying "sangwitch". I never really thought about the way I was saying it until then. I say it "sandwich" now, but I have to think it through every time before I say it.
