I have an older A2 Titanium body Bertucci with a ten year battery. I’m on my second battery and the watch has performed flawlessly the whole time. I wore it exclusively daily for about 8 years, now I have a couple more watches, but it still makes the rotation a few days each week.
Bertucci watches make the absolute best analogue mountain bikeing watches! Super tough, 4 o'clock crown (no wrist dig), good water resistance, and fixed strap bars (no lost watches).
Love this no-nonsense video and you are a riot to boot. Have been looking at Bertucci for a while and I keep hesitating to buy one. Have you considered doing a review of the Old Testament?
Thank you, finally a reviewer that understands there is a difference in under $100 watches. An $85 watch should be notably better than a $30 watch. That Citizen is far superior- Weiner is another brand that offers a lot under $100.
Glad to see Bertucci get reviewed, sad it was the DX3. I have a bunch of A-T2's matte and high polished. Even a A-2TEL for those nights my ProTrek is just a bit too BIG but I need some light on the dial. Not a fan of the stock straps and I tend to buy other thinner Zulu's that are nylon or canvas. For those days I am dressing up a little more I have Horween straps on two of my High Polished ones. I like them, just not the DX3. You want a Titanium field watch with a swiss movement, sapphire crystal and rated at 100M (some at 200M)? Berttuci is probably the best watch there for that. Plus it is nice to know the owner of the company, here in America, is extremely responsive to emails. Not something you'll get from Casio or Seiko.
I love my Bertucci titanium case watch. I just ordered this one for $56. The titanium one's case is wider than this one, and there's no issue with the height on the wrist. I like the solid lugs, and their being more open to make it even better for strap switch outs.
I’m debating picking up one of the ti models for mtn bike / back country camping excursions. the solid strap bars are a definite plus for people heading into harsher environments than the local park.
The funny thing about military watches is my 3 military friends, 2 Army and 1 Navy, hands down, ALL say they don't want a metal watch. A simple quartz Marathon or Casio is what they wear. Especially when in the Middle East. They say when carrying a pack/gear every bit of weight counts. So the non-metallic case here, in my new view, is a good thing. Thx for showing this Nick!
Great watches assembled in Illinois! 👍🇺🇲. I already owne one (different model called Experior) and love it. Might add another, perhaps similar to this DX3. Great bang for your buck with this brand! 👍
Love your reviews. Best comments...it would be a good price if I opened one up and found two twentys inside...find a guy that destroys watches, give him a bertucci. And your hand gestures...don't change a thing. You rock my friend.
I've still got the Citizen BM8180 (shown near the end of this review) from when you originally recommended it. It's the only watch I have/want/need now and it requires zero maintenance. This Bertucci DX3 would probably be alright for a kid's school watch.
These are consistently available for around $45. I've got a couple in different colors. I rather like the simple, uncomplicated dial. The nylon strap looks sharp but isn't very comfortable. Switching out for one of Bertucci's canvas bands made a world of difference.
@@whatsstefon They were consistently available on eBay at that price when I posted the comment. I bought a few of them for myself and also as gifts over the stretch of maybe six months. That was at least a year ago though, before they had models that came with the canvas strap... I don't know what shipping is like direct from Bertucci but you can always keep an eye on their used section. They refurbish and grade their used stock. I got a Grade A DX3 for like $30 almost two years ago. It looked new when I got it. It ended up being my most-worn watch. It still looks good and keeps accurate time. BTW, I've really come to appreciate the lume they use on their hands. It looks especially good on models with lighter dial colors that put a darker border on the hands.
One of my Bertucci Watches does have an end-of-life "jump" second-hand function. This was a "shiny" titanium type which I purchased in 2015. I don't know if the other Bertucci models has this function.
Own the A-4T Yankee (found an extraordinary deal). Low battery indicator, second hand is dead on, 100m, and can buy a post screw strap to help keep the height down.
Very good review. I appreciate that. But for $35 i bought G Shock Dw9052. Sure its bigger and bulkier but its so lightweight. 200 m water resist. Alarm, Timer, Stopwatch and Illuminator. And watch is built like the tank. The Dx3 costs $65 so its expensive. The only thing that I like is design of Dx3 and strap. The movement and illuminous hands are bad. And no date.
Yes, the DX3 is "expensive" for a very basic watch, but it's only about $30 more and you get what you really want & need: super light, comfortable, practical, durable, and without a bunch of design compromises that eventually cause you to buy another much more expensive watch, so you end up saving money! Something to keep in mind: Even obsessed collectors who must always buy watches to stay satisfied have a few watches that they enjoy wearing the most. This watch could be one of them, but they won't admit it because it's "cheap and plasticy." If it were graphene or a special carbon fiber formula that cost hundreds or thousands, It'd suddenly be respectable and even cool? Well, here's a secret: The respect and coolness comes from the inside. And people can see that when it counts.
🇺🇲 I just bought a DX3 I wish I had this in the US army The perfect field watch tells good time durable and reliable. 50 m waterproof that's perfect for a field watch. They have a sportsman model that's 100 waterproof.
The hands indeed do not exactly match up with the minute markers. True. But close enough on mine. And they also don't perfectly match up on my $120 Citizen Eco-Drive Garrison watch (the one you showed in this video). I am more willing to forgive that on a watch I bought online for $45 than for one I paid over $100 for.
Do you plan on looking at any of the civivi knives that recently come out? They look like some gems but would love to see your analytical input on them.
This looks like a Timex Scout with its crown in a different position. The Timex has Indiglo and conventional spring bars. The Timex will run you around $25 or less.
@@entertainme7523 my scout still runs. And has been through hell. Unlike my new Mk1 which died, the the crystal popped off, then the Indiglo stopped working. Maybe new Timex watches have really let go on quality, but my old Expedition chrono and my scout are solid units. Though I wanted to go even tougher so that’s why I’m here.
Thanks for this review...I was looking to add a new watch to my EDC and hit these guys up for a military discount megastar I was finding it hard to justify spending upwards to $200 for a watch, just so it would include a date window dial...I think this video has helped with my decision...I'll probably go with the $39 Expedition Scout by Timex on Amazon lol...thanks again.
Kinda concerned about getting a Timex myself, because I see a lot of reviews in amazon that the crown is falling off and there are various defects that the watch has even fresh from factory. Here in the Philippines a Seiko SNK809 is cheaper than a Timex Expedition Scout or Camper. Got any opinion which would be better?
Anthony Lizaola if you actually wear an expedition it will fall apart. It may work as a fashion piece but the quality is ridiculous. My weekender held up far far longer than the expedition. Just got a bertucci and it’s a far stronger watch
Any other integrated lug watches to look at? My last 3 Casios have torn apart working construction. I'm tired of replacing them at 1 to 12 months. About $100 budget would be ideal.
@@entertainme7523 Casios are slightly above $10 when not on sale. If anyone is looking at Bertucci watches I bought one and no issues yet. They have second hand ones on their site so that's what I went with.
Nick wears glasses? Before the years over we might learn more about what he looks like. Like hair color, age, dueling scar, etc. Nice looking watch by the way.
"[You] could jump out of a plane holding on to [the strap] and you'd probably still be okay assuming that it's attached to, you know, the plane otherwise you just fall to your death with a watch strap in your hand." *Snerk!*
I only joke with someone I consider rare, special, hope I ran across similar when I was growing up, Goodstuff Nick, I can only imagine your childhood friends, if you don't remember a Nick, Must have been YOU, fit the hat.
can people not just add 12 or what? i imagine some backyard soldier checking his watch as 1600, reading 4 and being like "uhhh??? wish my watch did the math for me..." luckily bertucci has them covered.
It would look even better, more military-like, if those numerals were all the same size. Oversizing some of them is an unnecessary complication to an already busy dial of such a small size.
May I ask a small question? when growing up, did you have inquisitive folk around you? that would explain a great deal, A history of smarts sort a speak, I was alone on a bus reading a book for years, never stopped learning. Hope I'm not out a line, hope I see a genuis little Nick down the road. Man, if that's uncomfortable, I'll take a hint, and knock it off, utmost respect Sir.
I will never understand the quartz haters. It has a 3 year battery. If you are about to parachute into Afghanistan.....put in a new battery before you go. A multi year battery is so much easier to manage than a watch that needs winding.......especially when you add in the accuracy factor. NO ONE......EVER who cares about using a watch as a time piece should be suggesting a mechanical watch. NEVER!!!! Watch batteries last many many years.....A miniscule percentage of people get into a watch critical situation every 3 or 4 years...and if you do....just install a new battery before you deploy. If you want a timepiece...you MUST go quartz

Solid as a tank, overbuilt beyond reason, where is your Victorinox I.N.OX. review Nick, your buddy Pete has one!?
Hey, Nick, I was just wondering what your thoughts are on the Buck Vantage series of knives? I am looking at getting a new EDC knife and am considering both the Buck Vantage and the Ontario Rat II.
70 dollars for just a quartz movement and a polymer case, you can literally get the same thing for like 30 bucks lol. Looks cool though, but for 100 bucks you can get a seiko 5
I fucking almost watched it yesterday but went to sleep instead... Jesus Nick can you not put it back it up? What could a trillion-dollar company possibly do to you? (Aside from sending you to a workcamp in the Alps and erasing every trace of your existence of course...)
I was told by a good friend in the business that some companies are intensely and aggressively litigious, even towards bloggers and reviewers, and I decided that that, of many hills, isn't the one I wanted to die on.
Understand your logic, but glad I saw it. It was a fantastic vid. Another reason I’ll never own an R. Now, if we talk Omega, or Grand Seiko...and I think “someday”.
May I ask please, I should pay attention more, asides from being a jack of all trades, what is it you do well thats not done excellent! not trying to make a head bigger than can fill a hat, but thankyou, just a old kid, Thanks.
The only thing worse than a quartz watch is a quartz watch where the seconds hand stops between the seconds indices. That would drive me absolutely crazy every time that I looked at it. It was the first thing I noticed when he brought it out and I cannot stop looking at each flawed tick.
Not my cup of tea, for sure, I would run for the hills if anyone offered me this watch for over 60 quid... or I would run to the closest Casio dealer and buy a G Shock... I love a good quartz piece, but this is definitely not it... And the strap, I have wore watches in very hash conditions and you can't go wrong with a G-Shock.. but truth be told, the G-Shocks I have been wearing are quite a bit more expensive.
I was told by a good friend in the business that some companies are intensely and aggressively litigious, even towards bloggers and reviewers, and I decided that that, of many hills, isn't the one I wanted to die on.
Very interesting, I hadn't even noticed it had been removed until I saw this comment. And honestly I'm not too surprised that you took it down, Rolex seems like they would definitely go out of their way to destroy any person who disagrees with them.
this thing was really fucking compelling until you mentioned the gunk under the glass. and then you mentioned the price. I'd be a buyer if I could hand select one for $35. at $65, just get one of those timex military watches
“Military” as an adjective means related to the armed forces. “Militaristic” is a negative word that means “an excessive tendency to use military force.” There is no reason to use a longer word. This is a watch in the military style. The watch is unlikely to invade Poland.
