An alternative to this is the Valeton GP-100, both units are exactly the same as Sonicake, Valeton & Hotone are all one company spilt into three for reasons unknown. An added bonus for UK type peoplings is that both the GP-100 and the Matribox are in the Amazon Prime sale, priced £86 & £78 respectively. The only decision you have to make is whether it's worth £8 to get it in black rather than grey. Whichever you choose is easily worth the price, I paid £130 for the GP-100 some time ago and considered it to be worth every penny and a lot more.

I have a Valeton GP200 and I thought the software looked awfully familiar. Now I know why. The GP100 and Sonicake control layouts are a bit different, but the software definitely seems to be identical.

One advantage the GP 100 has is that it's built like a tank. I reckon the metal enclosure makes it more of a viable option as a back up live rig or even part of your normal live signal chain where it could take care of,say, eq and modulation, saving you a lot of space on your board for stacking drives or one of those big ass delay units. Think I'm gonna try one.

Flyman B1 might be he Friedman BE-100? This unit reminds me of my Digitech RP355! Lots of similar features, but I bet that this one sounds betterer than the older Digitech stuff!

This reminds me of the Digitech RP series of pedals from the early 2000's. I have an RP100, no wah pedal (the RP200 had the wah) it came with 40 presets and 40 customizable slots. It also has drums.

I just love this matribox. I have it running in front of a marshall origin 20 head and a HB 2x12 cab. I can get any sounds I want at bedroom levels. I also have a Fender GTX 100 solid state and the effects are just as comparable. For a hundred and change it a great milti -pedal plus the drum machine and looper.

I needed a pitch shifter for my liverig (since we got some songs in B-Standard, Drop A and Drop E) so bought this pedal to make up some room on my pedal board Taking away the noisegate and compressor and getting a pitch shifter at the same time. This is an AMAZING pedal for it's price, was not going to use any modelers at first but now i'm using the Ampeg Clone with my own EBS4x10 IR and a Darkglass b7k pedal and the tone is Monstruous!

The Nux MG300 is a strong competitor around this price ,it has some great amp models and FX . I managed to get one last year for under £100 the MG400 will most likely be more expensive

Nice assessment of a ver decent little budget tool... rock and djent sounds just don't quite have enough chunkiness. One thing I would have liked to have seen was you using the wah/expression pedal.

Great review. I just checked the manual PDF (for firmware V1.0.4). Apparently pressing and holding the left button changes its function to tap tempo.

Zoom G1X Four, Valeton GP-100, and this thing seem like they're really promising units for the price. I have the Zoom G1XON, the older version of the G1X Four. Only drawback is that the Zoom needs an insert cable to output stereo, whereas the others can do native stereo with separate left and right jacks.

The supro 6 x 9 speaker has some beautiful fat clean capabilities and sounds very different from your average guitar cab. Yea i like 12’s but never underestimate the power of an unknown Driver. Cool multi efx fly rig ripper!

Impressive Modeler for the price. Regarding the small Expression Pedal size, it wouldn't be hard for them to design a flip out, clip on, or slide out Extension for the toe or heel end to temporarily elongate the Pedal. I'm surprised that makers of mini Expression/Volume/Way Pedals don't make that a standard feature.🤷Seems simple enough to me, and would increase the number of potential purchasers.

This is more my speed and budget over something like the new Tone Master. I've spent more on a single pedal, I'm sure we all have. Also, the fact that the drums are a separate signal to me would be great for recording and keeping myself on tempo until I can play and record real drums over it.

I think these are great for a backup, if your amp goes down. Doesn’t take up much room…. Or if you’re playing a coffee shop and you don’t want to take an entire rig….

Regarding timecode 7:20 I'd honestly pair this pedal up with my BOSS MK ii Loop station since it has better drum sets and you can add your own. So that pedal and Loop station would make for a good performance setup.

As said below the Valeton GP100 has been available for some time. I have a Jazz Chorus amp which is my main up due to it's superb clean sound. I might be tempted to buy the GP100 in black.

back in the 80ies when me as a young student played in a band, everbody predicted the death of guitar/bass-based rock/pop music. And now, we live in the best times - I needed to save lots of money for a really good guitar (which I still use a lot, Steinberger GM-4 with TransTrem), a mesa boogie (resting for ages in a locker room), a marshall (same here...), and some effect pedals (sold/damaged) back then, and now, you get very good tones in an incredible variety even from cheap gear. Not for me, I still prefer rack-based solutions (still use Line 6, Rocktron and Korg 19'' gear), but great for young musicians...

Sure wish they would put a tempo dial in addition to tap , makes it easier in practice setting to get right tempo , got old keyboard with that feature on all kind of backing instruments

It has tap tempo. Bottom left foot switch press and hold. I'm glad it doesn't have an annoying flashing light on a button.

I have a Valeton GP-100 which I picked up for £79.00 nearly new on Reverb a while back. I considered the Sonicake at the time and had I found one at a similar price I would have happily bought it too as reviews seem, overall, to be very positive. Apart from the price though, it was the Valeton's all metal construction that gave it the edge over this - it is very solidly built. The factory patches aren't the greatest but as everything is infinitely tweakable finding tones that you like isn't too difficult and it offers 99 slots for saving your own patches in addition to the 99 factory ones. Now that the GP-200 is available, used examples are becoming more numerous. As my son always covets my gear, I just bought him a Hotone Ravo MP-10 as an introduction to multi-effects and although slightly older and lacking a few features compared to the Sonicake and the Valeton, it cost me only £45.00 on Ebay - not bad at all for a mint barely used unit and it is also of full metal construction. Most noticeable shortcoming compared to the Sonicake and Valeton is that it has no stereo output but it does have an on/off switch which the Valeton lacks. For home use and practice or for those just venturing into multi effects units or those on a budget, you can't really go too far wrong with any of these inexpensive options. Shop around and you can find some great deals on any of these, both new and used and with quite a few manufacturers offering similarly priced "entry level" modellers nowadays, we really are spoilt for choice.

Would this work on the end of a "traditional" pedal board, to use purely for ampless shows? With an amp and can sim on only and none of the built in effects on. Seems a cheap way. I love my board, but need a way to go direct to PA

Just got one but no matter how I try It wont connect to my windows laptop. Installed the ASIO driver and software but says no device is connected. Maybe the usb port is defective. Guess it's going back.

The comments of this channel are the only one ive seen so constructive and comparative. There isnt a video comparing all these 2 switch budvet pedals and my mind goes wonky looking them all up and trying to remember the specs. This comment section has been the most useful thing on the whole internet. My opinion: This is like the best little multi for the range another is slightly better but everything in it just doesnt really sound good lnike it has ugly frequencies. I dont just dislike but i hate the yellow green vomit color of the text, love the build quality and metal, hate the zigzaggy triangles on the exp pedal. The mooer ge100 out of all i searched for is the best overall BUT it just doesnt sound good to me and theres not a high quality video on it. I sits in a frequency thats just unpleasant unfortunately. But it has an extremely long looper longer than most of the huge multi effects pedals too. It may be worth it honestly just for that. I would also love to see someone plug 2 of these units in and compare it to a $600 or $700 unit with 2x $100 units just plugged into eachother.

The drums are not editable, and they are full of scrambling rolls every four bars or so, which really screws up timing for a live performance.
