ok mr aero tech guy: do a dual spoiler is connected to the steering servo so the inside corner goes vertical and the outside flat to help with cornering! hehehe "adaptive aero assist steering" edit: ooh, you could put an elongated T arm on the servo so one goes up and the other goes down...like...you know ailerons ono a plane?
@@shoshoneedwards1349 Nov 15 I think it says on the site. Kind of sucks for me because that only gives me a couple of weeks to play before the snow arrives! 😞
@@muskokamike127 that's exactly the BS im talking about!? By the time we fucking get them we won't be able to drive them until next yr!?!? How TF is that fair??? Smfh
I appreciate you sharing my speedrun pass and channel in your video, thanks brother!! My fastest ak917 did 181, my new 3s one is up to 139mph, they are great cars capable of high speeds without changing any drivetrain. I plan to take the rtr dual motor to 150mph when it shows up
181mph is crazy! I’m interested to see what these will do at high speed. It’s really stable out the box, but I’ve heard the carbon one is still a little sketchy. Maybe it’s lighter 🤷🏼♂️..I’ve got both but not had a chance to run the carbon one yet. Anyway… look forward to seeing what you can achieve 🤘
@@TomleyRC thanks, plan to run out of the box baseline with the dual, then add onyx packs which may fry the stock esc’s 😂, then I’ll swap the esc’s. I believe the dual motor with the rlaarlo supplied motors will achieve 150+ mph
@@turboboostHoonicow honestly the diffs were never any issue or cause for the car being stable or driving straight for speedruns. I made a point to keep my fastest car with all stock components and stock unopened diffs
I'm not usually drawn to on-road vehicles but Rlaarlo is making it very tempting. This thing looks like a lot of fun! Thanks for the review and I hope life is treating you well!
It looks like a great car. The one test where you drove it one hand and accelerated from a complete stop and it went straight says a lot. The slo mo of the jump was excellent.
It’s sick the progress this company has made because we all remember that first model known for cogging and now here they are making out-of-the-box speed run cars💯🤙..
I really like the little details on the body including the entire presentation. It almost reminds me of a Kyosho with the finer details. Id just hope that replacement parts are easy to come by.
Was thinking of getting the dual motor one. But I live so far away from larger flats of asphalt so I bought a MT 1/8 scale instead. Might pick up the roller in future. It's looks like a great model to deck your shelf
Bit of ingenuity there with the spoiler at the end! Think the bigger manufacturers might need to pay attention to what Rlaarlo are doing as they are certainly churning out some good stuff
Nice looking car but I’d worry about mechanical longevity and parts availability a big issue-have to order from them and them only won’t find parts anywhere else so it’s a no go. Great review thanks.
I found a better use for the channel 5 dial, instead of using it for the rear wing which works better when connected to the throttle anyway! Buy yourself a Dumborc X6FG receiver with gyro!!!! now that dial is useful!!!! not sure why Rlaarlo didn't think of this but I know the Rlaarlo gyros aren't the best & they cost alot more than a Dumborc G6FG! p.s it binds up super easy to the Rlaarlo transmitter too😉
Not strictly true… you need downforce to keep the wheels on the ground. But yeah, it is used more for cornering, I didn’t know whether it would effect the handling… ie… lift the front wheels up a bit and make it unstable
Audi tt lifted and you crashed at high speed no spoiler and escort cosworth whale tail pushed the car into the road as intended. So even a really sleek design (the tt) without some help will lift at speed (and you will probably die). Real life.@@TomleyRC
great review! and also, might i add that you learned your lesson and didn't run it down a dead end road with a "OH S#$T" moment..but with saying that, i did miss that reaction. keep up the great vids!
Got my carbon version ordered right at 11 this morning with a couple of gyros. Going to be towing these around the track with the up comming Redcat COE hualer
I messed with droop, other tires and tightened a few things on the 917, on 2s it was ok for going straight but 3s it was hard to keep straight, on 4s I never got to full throttle or speed without going all over. Maybe I should look at this new release as a street basher not a speed runner, keep my limitless v2 / castle 8s setup for that duty…
Just rec'd mine....what a nice piece of kit. First impression is this is easily the nicest R/C I've ever owned. Haven't charged it or run it yet. The fit and finish right out of the box is head and shoulders above the tamiya's I've owned for double the price.
my metal ak917 kind of did 120km/h "out of box". I used included 40 tooth pinion and 63 tooth spur. And with aliexpress 3300 30c 3s battery i got 114km/h. Better battery and smoother tarmac would maybe propel it up to 120.
Not sure about the first 1/10 dual motor rc. I think that prize went to the Tamiya Clod Buster back in the late 80's which was closely followed by the Kyosho Double Dare - but of course their version had a completely different purpose in and effort to incorporate 4wd without the need for a center prop shaft, chain, or belt drive.
First on road RTR was the 1987 TAIYO/TYCO LAMBORGHINI COUNTACH LP500S. First off road car was the 1987 TAIYO AERO JET FIGHTER/Tyco turbo hopper 1988 name change for the world wide release. All of these cars had dual Dual Mabuchi 280 motors, and hit 20 mph on 9.6 volts.
I have the metal version and the lights don't operate the same as the CF version (signals, brakes). Well, the radio system is DumboRC and they have the receiver that has the LED ports. Will have to rewire the individual lights to get it to work right though.
Beautiful car!! If that was tamiya . It would cost almost $2000!! I tried to make a short video of my Vorteks and a DHK Zombie that I put a beetle body with lights on both. I could not do it. Have no idea how you drive and take a video with your phone. I was all confused. Lol. I have been driving RC Cars for over 30 years. Started out racing indoors. Then crawlers and everything else RC, Do you have your phone mounted on some sort of rod or something. Probably still couldn’t do it!! I was trying to do a simple speed run. But was forgetting to follow the car. It’s amazing how you make all these great videos 👍👍👍👍
Ha! Someone made a production adjustable wing. I played around with my xo1 with one hooked to a gyro and an rpm sensor so at speed and angle of attack, it would auto adjust. O could not get consistent resutls and i gave up. But im sure it would work. Also, true antilock brakes and tacktions control is completely possible as well.
I hope they fixed the weak rear upper arms. The connecting bolts on the 917 keep shearing off near the bolt threads on both plastic and aluminum units. Also, the rear exhaust light housing breaks on any rear impact. Good car for the money.
Wow. This is quite the dream rc car I’ve been looking for since the Tamiya Group C chassis cars which I actually have one that was a re-release version last year of 2022. This might be my second rc car I might just have in the collection. 👀
Great video on RC cars. You're so thorough with explaining & detailing these RC cars I had to subscribe & like. @Tomley RC, Do they have an RC car/truck that's good for street & trail with switchable tires & ability to raise & lower the suspension?
That white looks freakin awesome.. I know the "real" 1-1 has those wheels but my ocd(or autism) can't except they don't match... At all , Drove me nuts on the original car , lol 😂
Some of the speed run cars could do with that rear wing, and if it can act as a break it would definitely help. 🤔 The only issue is that small servo probably won't do anything above 150mph. 🥴
Toe in, body height can really effect straight line stability. Do you have a watt meter, or esc with data so you can check actual power level? Wonder how it would compete with the top touring car brands on a prepped track or carpet?
Nice find tomley boy great price nice car very good all round deal ..ps you need to tattoo tomley on your thumb ? Else how do we know it's really you driving 1 handed 😂😮😅😊
@@TomleyRC Just out of curiosity I've been keeping an eye on the qtys and I figured these would sell out quick....nope. Still over 100 avail of each version. I wonder if it's a sign of the economy being in the dumpster?
