I meant to do this earlier but thank you. I did a few of these workouts like 2 weeks leading up to states. I also did one of the 400m workouts but it was on pace with 200m so it helped with my endurance. I dropped the 400 to focus on the 200. Well it worked, I became a state champion in my senior year with 22 flat. Not sure what my splits were. I ran 10.94 in the hundred earlier that day.

@@a13whiplash31 I was 2A in Virginia, didn’t have comp till regionals, sometimes states. Kinda hard racing yourself all year then jumping into states with comp.

@@CoachMukunda It changes each year, at the time it was Covid, I was 2A and we had regionals canceled due to storms (waited inside all day). It was a weird year.

Remember for the 200m the most important thing is accelerate off the curve and slingshot into the straight. You should see a visible change in your frequency coming off the curve. Doing 150’s will help with reinforcing this!

From the strait behind where 110 hurdles are 120, walk back, 120. 94%. That’s one set. Walk the rest of the track for recover for 3 reps. Gain full recovery and run a 200 94%. Recover fully and one more 120 at 94% for the end. This helps with speed endurance and special endurance mainly in regards to the last strait away focusing on great relaxed form.

I just finished my first and last year of middle school track. I mostly did the 200m and I would stay with the group until about 75m left, in which then I would run out of gas. My current time is 26.22 but if i build up stamina I know I can save a second or even more.

How do you feel about 3's and 150's? My coach had us do 3 x 300, and 3 x 150 for years. In college, my other coach had us running 6 x 300 , 6 x 150

There is no secret formula one size fits all full season program that’s 100% guaranteed to make you fast. I know nothing about you and what your season looks like. You and your coach have to figure out what works for you. I don’t have the time to do anything like this unless I’m compensated accordingly.

Depends on the day. 400m base work is the foundation to a good 200m runner. Just my opinion.

@@helios4425 what’s your time now then? It was my first year of track I got 25.01 and I couldn’t break 25 all season next season I wanna have a huge decrease in the time but I’m not sure if it’s possible

@@akysip4985 I used this program for a month or so. I no longer do it. That helped me the most was plyometric exercises. I am currently running 23 seconds.

What I would recommend for someone that young would be to do 150’s. Doing 150’s is a great way for younger athletes to develop for the 200m. I would do around 3-4 150’s at 90-95% with 7-9 minutes rest. Preciate the support 🔥

My son 1st year of track was last year. He ran the 100 m and 200m. He qualified for state regional. This sounds like a good workout but being new to track... I don't understand this. I wish you could demonstrate personallly..

Tried this the other night Was a absolute killer session How long do you give to see a change in times and speed based off this session? Ideally I’d love to run under 30 but being the first month of pre season I sit in the low 30s with the 250s

It really depends on the athlete and how long you’ve been running for. You might see results in 2-3 months or it might take year. It all depends on your work and recovery.

@@MJPTV Do you have any other 200 type of sessions? In Australia We race on grass in distances of 70M 100m and 120M our main race I’ve gone from running high 10s to low 11s and need that speed endurance as I lack it

(3x)180m and (3x)120m! Tempo 180’s will really help you improve your time if done correctly to focus on being reflexive off the ground. And 90-95% 120’s to practice accelerating hard off the curve and maintaining it into the straight.

I said to shoot for 3-5 minutes rest in between reps. The total amount of rest time will vary depending the the amount of reps you do.

It just depends what you and your coach are trying to accomplish that day. For the repeat 200’s around 80% is good. For the 250, 200, 150 I like to use that as a speed day and go at 90%

The #1 Workout: 250m, 150m, 90m is best for in season training. It will help your reach peak performance. When your important end of season competitions are coming decrease the reps and give yourself full recovery in between reps. The #2 workout: 250m and 150m is good for preseason and in season training. Follow the same plan as workout #1. The #3 workout: Repeat 200m is good for off season and preseason training because it will increase your fitness level so you can have enough gas in the tank to perform throughout the year. To adjust this for in season training increases your pace, decrease the reps to 6, and rest for 2-3 minutes in between reps. Bonus Workout: (150m x6) Is good for in season and off season training when trying to improve acceleration and max velocity.

10 x 200m with 30 seconds rest is stupid. You aren't training fast twitch muscle fibers if you are going 60-70% effort. That is aerobic training. 10 x 200m is offseason work for 800m runners and preseason work for 1600m runners. Learn up.

If you didn’t notice I gave one off-season workout and two pre-season / in season workouts. 10x200m is an off-season workout like you said. What you’re not taking into account is that the energy systems all work together. It’s not going to hurt a sprinter early in the off-season to improve their aerobic system. This isn’t a workout we do every week. We probably do it 2-3 times max during the off-season. It’s not meant to work on the anaerobic or alactic system. We use this to build strength and endurance which are also necessary for sprinters. You can also achieve this in different ways but this is the way we choose to do it. At Wings we train all our sprinters to be able to run anything from the 100m to the 400m. If your program’s goal also isn’t training for the 100m-400m then I can understand not including this workout. We want versatile athletes because the more they can do the more schools will offer them. We still do specific event training but early in the off-season there is still room for this workout. Just because you don’t use this workout doesn’t mean the workout is stupid. You just have to know how and when to use it. I think our results here at The Wings Track Club speak for themselves. We’ve produced elite athletes for over 40 years and I trust our process.
