The major aesthetic problem with mixing addons, say Narcissus for character panels + Dialog UI for quests, is that you end up with an unholy mish mash of different skins (+ Blizzard's default for anything they don't touch). Heck, both addons from Peter don't even use the same skins! It would be neat if these authors got together to define a style guide and texture ressources library they'd all use, but good luck with that happening.
I'd rather it just use the default backgrounds, especially the campaign stuff is pretty and AddOns lose that (and easily being able to tell if something is part of a campaign.)

@@Juxer_SC Linux distros are free and there's still a concerted community effort to keep each aesthetically and functionally homogeneous (mostly). Don't confound wistful thinking for how things could be for lack of gratitude for how things are.
I have been using Narcissus just based on everyone recommending it for Remix, and then I saw all the other features, and I can't do without it. But here's what's funny - I didn't realize until this video that the "save look" feature at the barber shop was part of it. I saw that at the barber shop, and thought it was a new feature in the game. Lol, I just now realized that that's part of the addon.
Id love to swap from immersion but immersion does wonders by breaking up the walls of text into smaller pieces. Walls of text just causes my brain to want to skim over it.
I just returned to the game as was recommended Immersion, and I love exactly what you mentioned. Take the big text chunks and feed it to you a nice clean ways.
Thankfully so. Cause I don't want to play with this stuff. If this was the default there would be no Peter giving me an option to play with WoW's current UI.

I've used Plumber since its inception & its absolutely a MUST HAVE!! Have had Narcissus off and on for a few yrs, too, & its come a long so nicely! The creator has really done a hell of a job w/these.
These are good addons. Another feature of Narcissus is that the wardrobe changes also apply to the dragonriding rostrum. So you can save your dragon's looks across all characters if you wish. :D
I've been using Narcissus since 2020 and it has been my all time favorite addon to use for character screenshots! I post my Narcissus screenshots a LOT on socials and I'm happy to see a lot more people using the addon as well! I'm always excited to see what Peter has in store for new updates to the Narcissus addon! I appreciate you giving this addon a spotlight! Everyone should try it out!
I've been using Narcissus for a long time now, glad to see it and the mod author get a shoutout. I honestly had no idea some of the features that add on has, like the socket management in Remix, were apart of Narcissus. I thought those were built in to the game. Absolutely wild work from Peter!
Very Nice Addons Indeed Thanks for sharing these they are really a cut above in adding a cleaner view to sometimes dense and old layouts that you have to see all the time. Really hope that Peter continues to move the UI forward!
@@josipmarasovic2436 The /played command will list how much time you’ve spent playing your character but it will also show the earth date you created the character and their real-life age. When it’s your character’s birthday your name over your head is highlighted in-game for a day. This could be incorporated into the types of add-ons in this video if Blizz implemented the birthday feature.

If I had to extrapolate this using the primate part of my brain I’d come to the conclusion that this would show the date that a person CREATED A FUCKING CHARACTER Do you understand now or must I get out the crayons?
Narcissus felt like it took up too much of my UI and was more to learn on the stat screen so I uninstalled it, but those smaller features within it are pretty neat. I might have to reinstall.

Narcissus is a must have but for me personally, the other add-ons aren't it. There are times where I want Dialogue UI, but more often than not I don't want it on. Plumber makes things more clunky than it keeps them simple, in my opinion.
The problem for me on an old PC is all this stuff is quite resource heavy. I tend to think that is why Blizzard keeps it so simple to be honest you can run the game on any old potato which makes it super accessible
Immersion goes so well with Narcissus and Plumber that you'd have thought they had the same developer. Paired with the recent changes in UI design to be more sleek by Blizzard, and they look seamless together.
as someone who''s used ELVUI for years i couldn't imagine using the default UI. i get why people like that traditional feel, those slightly medieval elements, backgrounds, borders etc, but it feels so much more comfortable to me when all the UI elements are modern, clean and minimalist. Yu's addons are a fantastic addition to this and i migrated from immersion which i'd used for a long time to dialogue UI and never looked back. personally i dont hope yu gets employed by blizz, because being on the outside gives you a lot of flexibility about what you create, whereas inside the machine you have to work to a series of constraints that are determined by the context you work in. the downside for all the addon users is that eventually yu will stop making/updating these addons and they'll become defunct. i can think of a lot of addons i used to adore that stopped being maintained and slowly broke over several patches and xpacs.
Shout-out to Caith UI for literally a decade or more of top quality UI compilations! Dude has been a machine since at least cata. His UI for classic is particularly appealing & polished.

Definitely going to give DialogueUI a try. I’ve used Immersion since the video that highlighted it and mostly love it, but Dialogue looks pretty neat. I like a lot of the information displayed on Narcissus’s character sheet but not a big fan of the character panel visual style, so I may or may not give that a try. Anyway, thanks for the video! These recommendations have been very helpful to me for the start of the last couple of xpacs.
I don’t care about screen shots, but I have Narcissus installed simply because it’s stunning. The person who built it, hit it out of the park. Simply amazing.

I had narcissus downloaded but didnt fully understand what it did. When it came to managing my gems in Pandaria remix, I honest to god thought that gem manager was blizzards doing and I was thinking (wow, props to blizz on this one). ITS BEEN NARCISSUS THE WHOLE TIME?
Never heard of these add-ons before but holy hell Batman! They look fantastic! I tried the Dialog UI one and it keeps getting me disconnected from the server. Most likely due to the fact I'm not running Windows or Mac. Would have loved to been able to use the add-on though, it makes the game look and feel so much better and smoother.

Yup! I'm not a fan of addons, but UI addons is different. All of this should be implemented as a default in WoW. Amazing work! I used Immersion, but kinda forgot about it after re-install 😊
I didn't think I would like most the features of narc, but remix made the fix to a bad system. What I dismissed as just a video game photographer addon turned out to just be pretty and nice and not intrusive and lovely

Voice dialogue would be cool - I know yall did this and got shut down but Blizz should do it or allow someone / ai to. Classic has the addon and I love it

Love addons like these. I only use addons that are like upgrades to what we already have not actually add to the game and take away from playing it! Been using the action camera mode aswell and I can’t go back to tab targeting now it’s just to good pair that with mouse over and cursor macros and game feels like a action mmorpg instead of a tab target
He likely couldn’t make this if he worked there. They have design standards that have to support (many) different resolutions, localizations, and accessibility requirements. It’s possible these do, but most don’t. People forget when you have to work in a box is very different than when you are making a fan project.
I tried these and sadly started experiencing random game crashes very frequently. Disabled the addons and everything was fine again. Using them alongside ElvUI, maybe that's a conflict?
another underrated addon would be Krowi Extended Vendor UI why this addon isent show in any Videos is a insult to the maker of the addon its simple and really good
I would worry about the collisions and conflicts with ElvUI. I could try some of these... but if I have to faff about disabling things in ElvUI to make them work, it is no longer worth it. That is the problem with these extra addon things, nice as they are. Though, to be fair, likely the problem with the fact that ElvUI is so gargantuan and replaces basically everything and blocks out the ability to use anything else. :(
the only thing I don't like about addons is having to use them in dungeons/raids, so many encounters require them to a near mandatory level because of how inconsistent blizzard is about what graphic does what kind of thing that's where ff14 really does things better you see orange circle you know to get out, in wow you see a barely visible green/red/blue/any colour under the sun smudge on the floor and it could be something you need to stand in for a mechanic or you get fricked, GW2 also suffers from ground clutter or class spells blinding you to what's going on also aoe sizes being super inconsistent to here the fire stops and where the damage stops -.-
I really like the look of those addons, but I also cant be bothered to learn how to set them up. I would prefer if blizz just did it for me by updating the base UI
