I've watched so many of your videos now and subscribed to your blog, reading all the posts about cards, and have totally overwhelmed myself hahaha. Great content though, I'm just finding it so hard to choose where to start
it has 3% international fees, what is insane for a $450 Travel Card, the multipliers are also so bad. I have free credit cards wirh no international fees and better multipliers, the only perk is Gold status
@@xccude Go to USA and get a real credit card, Im not a US resident, and Ive never been but all my credit cards are from there, better multipliers and without international fees
Hi, you are right in part. You have to spend over the $450 in one book which includes a Qantas Flight, this flight can be book in conjunction with accommodation to use the voucher. Unfortunately you cannot book under the $450 meaning you will still have to pay out of pocket some amount.
Not sure about now however I know years ago a lot of businesses wouldn’t accept American Express or you paid a higher transaction fee for American Express. What has been your experience in this regard
Thank you for a great video = I got the AmEx Qantas Platinum last month (my first new credit card in Years!). I now understand a lot more about Australian points hacking and will wait a few months before applying for another card on this list.
Fantastic, that card is a solid choice! I have a full video about points hacking if you want to check it out here - ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-ecRW53YVZmc.html
My family has the Qantas Amex card and even though it has a $450 flight credit, Qantas flight fares are always so much more expensive compared to other airlines. Our renewal is at the end of this month. What is the best use of this flight credit if we don't have plans to travel? If we book a flight for 6 months away and our plans change how do we change our ticket if we decide not to renew this card?
I recently applied for the HSBC star alliance credit card for Singapore airlines which the conversion rate is good, do you think the citibank premier would be better than the hsbc? citibank premier has a bonus points but the conversion rate isnt great.
Nice content, one thing. There are several animations mistakes in this. The price of the Hamilton island flight and the later the name of the second card and I am only 4 minutes in.
Fantastic video Raymond - thanks for putting all this together for us viewers. I am comparing some of these to the recent amplify signature rewards card offer thats just come out from St. George - any thoughts on where you'd slot this one amongst your 5?
Thanks for making this video! really informative and helped me out a ton. Just a quick question - would you recommend closing the card straight after you hit the spend criteria, or keep the card open for almost a year rand then close it before it renews, to minimise the affect on credit score?
I am considering the AMEX Qantas Ultimate credit card. I have a few questions... - When do they charge you the $450 annual fee? - How do you redeem the lounge passes at Qantas and The Centurion?
You should immediately get charged the $450 annual fee once you start using the credit card. In order to redeem the lounges for Qantas you need to first purchase an eligible Qantas product/service i.e. purchasing a Qantas flight. Centurion lounge automatically is given to you each anniversary year, just go to the lounge with your card and they'll let you in.
brilliant information video mate. quick one...can you cancel the credit card after a year before the annual fee takes place then jump to another credit card. is that a good strategy?
Glad you enjoyed the video mate. You absolutely can cancel it before the year is up. What you’ve described is called credit card churning/hacking and is a common tactic a lot of people use to accumulate points. I’ve done a full video on it here that you can check out - ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-ecRW53YVZmc.html
Hey,Raymond. I’m currently using Western union to pay suppliers from overseas. Looking for a good credit card for cash back. Any recommendations? Thanks
I'm seeing the ANZ Frequent Flyer Black card as only 90,000 Qantas points and $200 cashback. Did they change it recently or does each person get a different offer? Does this decrease in value mean another card Visa card is now better?
Really like the content! But I can hardly meet the spending requirements of 3k+ in 3 months. Could you do a video ranking credit card of mid-tier spending? e.g 1500-2500 in 3 months?
There's ways to help meet your spend criteria, I talk about some of the hacks I use in this video - ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-ecRW53YVZmc.html
May I know what is the highest number of credit cards you have concurrently? And do you have different credit score from We money app and credit savvy app eventhough they are both based on experian?
Another great video. Thanks. I have a question. The NAB have recently announced that as from April qantas and reward points won't be earned for payments through BPay. B2B PAY is a platform that allows business to circumvent this restriction and earn points but I was wondering if you are aware of anything for non business card holders to do likewise. Thanks again for your efforts in creating this channel.
Hi Raymond, I know you have expressed your preference towards Qantas but in my case, where I prefer Virgin, is their ‘Velocity’ Amex equivalent equal as valuable. Your videos don’t seem to cover the specific Velocity cards as much. Is it simply because of your preference or are they simply no good?
Hey Steven, there is the American Express Velocity Platinum Card which is also a great card to sign up for. I've done a video before specifically on Velocity cards here - ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-1JQYUgLOvao.html
What’s the best card with no international fees? It’s great that these cards get you points to travel, but if your gonna go internationally the international transaction fees are quite exorbitant. It’s hard to find a good credit card in Australia that doesn’t have those fees and earns points…….
Hey Raymond awesome video. Wondering if you can claim the sign on bonus for Amex Ultimate Qantas AND Amex Explorer cards in the same year? Or do you have to choose between one or the other?
Hey mate, unfortunately you can only pick one card to receive sign-up bonus, as it is only eligible to new American Express customers. So you'll have to choose carefully haha
Thats simple. Just have a job and the ability to service repeating and compounding debt. Once your comfortable in debt you can go aquire more debt until one day you wake up and owe everything.
Heya! Me and my partner wanna apply for a creditcard with multiple account holders. As we are doing our day to day purchases with this card and save up to points to use for traveling. Which card would you recommend for this? And also, in a couple months i will be applying to finance a car. Will i be able to get monthly car payments through the creditcard?
great choice, i have been using amex explorer for years and its perfect. However 10% of place in Australia dont accept amex so i also use Virgin Card, terrible service, app is average too. I am looking to change card as i need a visa , mastercard. What would you recommend as a non affiliated bank credit card for travel points? OR in general points to transfer to virgin, qantas etc? Thanks
Unfortunately, there's really not that many non affiliated bank credit cards aside from AMEX that provide good travel perks/points. The one that springs to mind would be a Qantas credit card, but they aren't that good...
Hi mate! Thanks for the videos, they are great. Quick question, let’s say I am CBA customer and I got the bonus Qantas points (120k). Can I apply to the ANZ/Westpack credit can and still get the bonus Qantas points they give when you get a new credit card with them? Thanks a lot
Yes kids under a certain age can typically enter lounges for free, for example for the AMEX centurion lounge kids under 17 can enter for free. Sign-up points will typically not expire with a few caveats. For AMEX if you close all your accounts with them, then your points will expire in 30 days. Whilst for Qantas, if you don't earn any Qantas points over 3 years then they will also expire.
Hi ive had the platinum edge card for just under a year. If I cancel it and change to the explorer one will I get sign up perks? Also are my points I earned already transferrable? Really dont want my hard earned points all wiped.
Hey mate, unfortunately you won't be eligible for the sign-up bonus anymore on the Explorer card as you're already a AMEX member. If you open up a new card you're points will still remain with you, it stays with the account holder not the specific card that you have.
Hi Raymond, this is a separate question but are you personally invested in any leveraged ETF's, like TQQQ or SOXL ? Conventional wisdom says not to hold it long-term but what if a small part of your portfolio is held in leveraged ETF's, do you reckon it's worth it ?
I don't personally invest into any leveraged ETFs and it will probably not be a part of my portfolio anytime in the future. Just a personal preference on my end.
I have a question if I want the card only for purpose to fly with Emirates to Europe with business. What card would you have for that ? So if I good understand I need qantas points right ? Thanks Ray
You have two options: 1. AMEX Rewards Points - You can then transfer points directly to Emirates and this will give you the most availability. Best cards to accumulate AMEX reward points would either be AMEX Explorer or the Platinum Card, just note the platinum card has a pretty high annual fee! 2. Qantas Points - You can book reward flights with Emirates through Qantas, however there is less availability with this option.
will I get points paying for rent, mortgages, car expenses, buying stocks, shares, cryptocurrency, car loan (novated lease car loan), and margin loan for stock investment?
No, you won't. Most of those won't accept credit card as a payment option anyway and if it does, it'll be treated as a cash advance where you'll need to pay a 3-5% fee and then immediately start being charged interest.
Hi Raymond Can you share bit more details of Aeroplan program. How you describe we get max benefits in that program over krisflyer. I am bit curious.. thanks in advance
Hey mate, essentially with Aeroplan when you obtain gold status with them you receive gold status for the remainder of the calendar year + 1 extra year. So if you obtain gold status in January 2024, you'll receive your gold status until the end of 2025! Which is roughly ~23 months at most
@@raymondlaGreat Thanks and As its Star Alliance Gold Status so will be treated equal for Singapore Airlines as well for Baggage and all ? Please correct me if I am wrong
I have one card that I will always keep open which is my 'keeper' card and then a credit card that I rotate out to churn. For the keeper card it's based on what reward program you want to be with. Personally I'm a huge fan of AMEX due the flexible reward program, and my keeper card is the Explorer Card. I've got plenty of videos on my channels talking about credit card set ups etc. that you can check out, but maybe start with this one - ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-NKfoyd0ZD_g.html
It varies by provider but usually you get your bonus points pretty quickly after meeting the criteria, after that you can feel free to close down your card
Sign-up bonus on the card isn't the best and the ongoing earn rate isn't the highest either. I personally don't like the fact that you have to spend $2K per month to avoid the monthly fee.
To be transparent I'm not affiliated with any of these providers and if I was I'd be open about it. These are just my personal opinions on some great credit card options that offer great value to consumers.
can anyone confirm for me which of these cards earn rewards when using BPay? As NAB cards have stopped earning QFF when using BPAy from 18th of April. Thank you !
