The very first example,the double wrist grab literally brought me to Aikido in 90's. As a doorman and kick boxer I was just about exit a male,,just messy drunk and on Charlie. He was in late 20's and annoying people on dance floor so I approached and tried talking him out but he grabbed both my wrists and boy had he locked on grip. His eyes like saucers and oblivious to my request. I myself was like rabbit in headlights lol I couldn't head him,knee him etc as dancefloor was below bar etc and everybody was eyes on including his mates. I couldn't get to radio to call assistance etc. This lasted near minute until with luck another doorman noticed and removed him via strangle hold lol. After that someone mentioned aikido etc and my love began. After 13 yrs doors and then 15yrs in prison service I have used aikido more times than I can remember. Excellent 👌 guys

Brother you’re not a kick boxer if he grabbed both your wrist and you couldn’t do anything.
@daleeasternbrat816
@daleeasternbrat816 Год назад
@@jorgemartinez7162 as a bouncer, you may not want to injure unruly patrons more than necessary. You don't want to Nuke the guy, you don't want to get hurt. Generally, a kickboxing response is really going to hurt the guy. Aikido has Selectable Yield. The same response can select from no injuries, all the way to crippled.

Aikido negates negative energy. I have had over forty years hospital experience dealing with violent patients. Restraining without injury is a must. Aikido is very helpful in doing so.

Honestly, we all appreciate the techniques you are showing us, but you are all pretty solid gents. What if someone is in the 160 to 170 lb range with light muscle and frail anatomy. Most men aren't built like you guys. Maybe show more for people who don't have the strength and power you have. Light strikes and moves that will be effective against larger, stronger men. Cheers.

so you are claiming that a grappler can't win against a striker? (I'm a striker myself...Taekwondo...but there's a counter to everything just like there's always a counter to the counter....there's no magical technique, all styles can be defeated, it's just a matter of your skill level and experience as an individual. Artist, not art.)

@@neutrino78x Yes, cause you don't know the moment in which someone will strike you. Most attacks on the street occured in the moment of unawareness. And that makes sense. Nobody would strike and robe you, if he or she knows you are aware of that he or she will strike you. I have a few exempels for you. Many knife attacks happened in crowded areas why? The attacker can hide himself between the group of people and it makes it hard to detect a small weapon like a knife. Why are school shootings so often occurred? Because nobody can recognize an armed man, when he or she is focused on learning. A historical exempel: Why did the Vikings raid churches and monastery's? Or attack on Sundays? They know the people were unarmed and preying. Why did the English otherwise attack the viking camps on Saturdays? Cause they bathe on Saturdays. A modern exempel Why did the Hamas attack an Israelian party ground? Cause the people were in the middle of a party and their attention was someone else. In addition: Only a handful of people would confront you directly. People with psychological problems who cannot assess dangers. People under the influence of drugs and alcohol, which makes them more aggresive as they would be without. Extremely irritable people who cannot handle loss of control and aggression and who have low self-esteem and who harm other people to make themselves feel better. All guys who are psychologically conspicuous and can be noticed from a distance or through their behavior and the way they talk.
@neutrino78x
@neutrino78x 4 месяца назад
@@alexanderb4846 "Yes, cause you don't know the moment in which someone will strike you. " So basically no one can defend themselves on the street???? Preposterous. ITF Taekwondo has been very useful for me on the street. I never knew when an attack was coming, and I was able to deal with each one. I don't do Aikido, but I assume it would work as well. No reason to think otherwise, if you have enough life experience. Only people under 25 think there are systems that no one can defeat unless they are also using it. When you get older you understand that all systems work. There are no magical systems....everything is effective. The question is, are YOU effective as a fighter. If you are, then you would be effective using Aikido. If you're not, then you might have to use something braindead like western boxing or western wrestling.

@@neutrino78x I think you are way younger as I'm. I'm 35 years old and life in Berlin Germany. I've seen a lot of crazy people in my life and participate in kickboxing and aikido. My knowledge I have given to you was from a psychological and historical perspective and from my knowledge living in a pretty big city with a lot of crazy people. I don't understand why you can't accept my opinion. It's my opinion based on experience in my life not yours.

@@alexanderb4846 " I think you are way younger as I'm. I'm 35 years old" I'm 46. Give it time, you will eventually realize that there is no magic style. Just like in racing they say "it's not the man, it's the machine". In the Navy we say "wooden boats, iron men". Or as Bruce Lee said "I don't fear the man who knows 1000 kicks. I fear the man who has practiced one kick a thousand times."

Aikido looks very impressive. Especially in movies. Unfortunately it requires the oponent to do nothing and waiting, till you do an elaborate long technique. The one you rotate 360 holding the oponent hand. Works if the opponent is not struggling. If he fights back and get off the grip, he will have all your back to knee it and hammer it till he is tied. Sorry 😜

you are kind of beginner stage, you ask the opponent to grab you a certain way and you only react slowly, you need to show ur skills in a real spar with another "master" and then show this. Also half your motions are false because you don't account for the resistance of the other person..... you tried a south grab for your second move when if he attacked you in that way you should have gone for a counter throw. 2:21 or even 3:07
