finally got my winix 5500-2 today thank you for the recommendation i love this product. i hope you do more reviews on more different products so i can buy them
So I know you said in the comments before that the molekule doesn't have a high enough CFM for you to really recommend it but I would really really really ask that you please do a review of it anyway... So many people would find that useful. As of right now there is only Wirecutter which did their test which was rather limited and which molekule vehemently argues against. and then there are RU-vidrs who promote the product without scientifically testing it. So the jury is really out in terms of does the molekule work or not... And because you are such a good reviewer and so thorough it would be extremely interesting to get your take. What do you think? Could you do it? I'm sure it would be a very popular video. Thanks
Thanks for your reviews, they are excellent. Are you planning to review the Winix 6300 air purifier vs. the 5500-2 soon? I want to know if it is worth it to pay little more for the 6300 model. Thanks!
I know you are a professional so I’ll keep my comments to a fine vocabulary or I will attempt to, but I do believe that you should have just spoke on the real issue, that people are looking for something to make sure their marijuana does not smell
Don't know if you are being funny or serious but I don't smoke weed but I do smoke cigars and I'm looking for a AP for a cigar room. So the whole world doesn't think like you.
Question.. I live in an old home that doesn’t have a ducts to exhaust kitchen pollutants and I don’t have an option of installing ducts. I’m thinking of using an air purifier as an alternative. For this particular case, do you think I can get away with Winix or do should I pay more for the Austin Air? Thanks! Love the video and channel
Get a rangehood that vents to atmosphere rather than a ducted one. That should be your first priority to target the issue at the source. Not sure if you could duct it out to the window, if not any rangehood would be better than nothing. Alternatively install a non ducted exhaust fan that vents to the attic (they’re the only ones that exist in Australia - I don’t know about the US)
This is helpful. I’d like to get the Austin Healthmate after watching this but I’m wondering if I can get away with the junior for a room only 300-400 sq feet. I don’t think the bedroom model comes in Jr size but wondering if it’s worth it to get cause it covers everything? Is the cfm not as good in the Jr vs the standard?
Hey I'm looking to get the Winix 5500-2 but in Canada not many sellers. They are selling the 6300-2 model. But I was curious if this would be good for burning fumes (I burn leather and like nylon-webbing belt material) and work with barge contact cement. I use a respiratory mask with an organic filter when working with these but would also like to have an air purifier to dissipate the smell. Also would use it for dust in my room (which from your review winix 5500-2 is good for this)
If you were to recommend an air purifier for someone who lives with heavy smokers, has allergies and lives in a dusty environment, what purifier would you recommend?
@@consumer-analysis It seems like the standard Austin Air HealthMate addresses VOCs. Would you say the Pro version isn't necessary then? (In this context, looking to specifically reduce health risks of secondhand smoke from neighboring apartment)
@@consumer-analysis Thank you - but given that roadway pollution is both UFP and gas, which unit do you recommend? You don't have a rec in that writeup. Thanks.
Yes, although you could get away with the much cheaper Winix 5500-2 or Coway Mighty if your primary concern is air pollution. See this analysis for more information: www.consumeranalysis.com/guides/air-purifiers/air-purifier-for-pollution/
@@consumer-analysis Thanks I read the articles you explained that PM 2.5 and smaller is the most dangerous. Does the Winix 5500-2 filters out PM 2.5 and smaller? Also what is the plasma wave feature.? Thanks for your research
@@aaronnanos8789 Hey as a former college student, I recommend finding a friend that lives off campus so you don't have to deal with RA's with inflated egos. If you do wish to smoke in your dorm, definitely get a smoke buddy xl and a mouthpeace. Depending on your dorm set up, if you have a fire alarm in your room, you can take a plastic bag, and put a carbon filter in it, then put a hanger hold the plastic bag and carbon filter over the fire alarm. I got thru 2-3 years with ra's and the dean with this. Also if you ever get caught by the Ra dont be intimidated, depending on how your schools handles smoking you can claim is was just vaping and get away with it. Regarding filter, Im doing research right now for the most efficient for cyphs for 3-5 people in a dorm sized room. So ill update you guys on my choice for mj smoke. Best of luck, guys, and remember: always get your work done first, then smoke. Create free time by getting your stuff done early. Be 2-3 weeks ahead of your class and be friendly with your professors.
Update: I purchased the Winix 5500-2, and I wished i purchased it way earlier. I haven't had any smell escape my designated smoke room which is a 10x10 office.
Winix emits ozone and that is dangerous to anyone let alone asthma sufferers. Need to go back to drawing board my friend and find a better purifier to review that has NO OZONE RELEASE!!
I like how this guy uses throwaway phrases like "our recommendation“ to mean “my recommendation." There is no team of researchers. Just a camera and a guy sitting at a table in his basement. Who are "we" bullshitting?
Is it just me or is this guy sponsored by Winix? They feature the Winix 5500-2 in almost every one of their videos. It's suspicious to say the least. He always recommends it above every other product on the market. The Austin Air Purifier is a medical clean room grade. I realize he's speaking highly of the Austin Air, but the Winix is always their main recommendation in almost every one of their videos.
