@nathandaniels20Some of the lieutenant fights are boring, that's it. But that's the case with every One Piece arc other than maybe Alabasta and Water 7. Other than that, Skypiea is basically perfect.

I found almost every side character boring and I dropped the series originally because of this arc. Glad I picked it up again

What's so crazy is that Egghead is a contender for your top 2, and yet when all is said and done, it's probably gonna end up being the worst arc of the final saga. It feels wrong to use "Egghead" and "worst" in the same sentence, but that's just how good the final saga is shaping up to be.

I don’t really understand the punk hazard hate. Honestly dressrosa i put down a couple of times while reading it. Punk hazard was a breath of fresh air after fishman island which was the lowest point in the manga for me imo. I honestly don’t think i like any post time skip arc as much as any pre time skip arc. But thats just my taste

People forgot how lame Syrup Village was. Skypeia & Thriller Bark were far better. Maybe even Punk Hazard.

ngl, one of the worst paced arcs is Egghead. It starts off moving incredibly fast, with chapters feeling almost bloated, slows down after the "interlude", then somehow feels bloated again at this point despite canonically only ten minutes having passed.

Also the fact that Zunesha's purpose in Wano wasn't to put out the fire in Onigashima by spraying water onto it is baffling to me. The fact that Oda specifically put the line in there about the water of Raizo's scrolls being the water of Zou... cynically the reason could literally just be that Oda only had a certain amount of chapters and thus a certain amount of pages to wrap up Wano in, and so the only reason Zunesha didn't put out the fire was because it would take up too much page space to draw.

I believe it. The super punch that Luffy did to beat Kaido also felt very out of place given how he literally warps reality with his powers. If it was a gatling of punches that were all bigger than gear 3 from a single arm, like raining lightning down onto Kaido with fists bigger than the dragon's head, then I'd buy that... Plus forcing Momo to move Onigashima out of the way of the punch makes less sense than Momo tugging it to Zunesha to put out the flame, ysing the voice of all things to speak and coordinate, and maybe getting a hint about Momo's destiny that he uses as direct motivation to complete the task, instead of being a bumbling coward to the end.

The point is to justify the Minks' sacrifice by having Raizo do something critical.

I’ve read the manga and watched the anime. Punk hazard was a serious roadblock for me in both mediums. I actually love whiskey peak yall are capping. Coming from berserk, zoro joined guts as a 100 man slayer lol. Also I liked igaram and vivis introduction, and it was short! Fishman island was great too. I still think of that kick luffy gave hordy. The only reason dressrosa was good is because of law and doffy. The pacing was horrendous in both mediums. I fucking loved wano too. But Saboady -> return to saboady is still my favorite run of the series. Lost sleep every night

Also zou had “raizo is safe” and that made me cry, and it was short

Whiskey Peak also shows just how manipulative Nami is when she drank them all under the table, and leads me to believe she is a perfect match up for Vlasco Shot in rhe final fights.

WCI is my favorite right now, but it will almost certainly be Egghead once this arc ends. My first chapter reading weekly was 1060, and the weekly experience has been incredible.

[Been sick so I missed this, and also keep beating up those 76ers and we will take the Lakers.] Cooking on a theory again, sorry ahead of time... Like I said I still think its likely the real York in a stasis tank Mars is looking at horrified, but I now think its possible its Rocks D Xebec which Mars is horrified by in a stasis tank like the Seraphim were earlier in the arc. We know Blackbeard has ties to Xebec like his ships name, and we know he has a "special lineage" that I assume was Xebec crossed with Buccaneer. Blackbeard has darker skin like Buccaneers, has dark curly hair like Buccaneers, in 1095 Kumas dad is missing teeth like Blackbeard, and Blackbeard can take damage like Buccaneers. It would parallel Joyboy getting betrayed by his people if the Rocks pirates overthrew their Captian Xebec, we don't know what happened, but what if Buckingham Stussy took Xebec in stasis to Vegapunk when she joined MADS? Not just to keep his body/fruit from the world, or Morias fruits former user who could revive a powerful body, but also to splice Xebec and a Buccaneer together?(take Kuma's fathers remains, or old Stussy could have even seen Kuma or his father and stole some genetic information for later use) Blackbeard could be the first trial Seraphim from 40 years ago.(we assume, though he could have had a couple years of quick aging like the modern Seraphim and then found Whitebeard) Part Buccaneer for strength/stability of the first spliced clone Seraphim and part Xebec one of the strongest pirates to live in recent memory, who might also have been a 3 eye tribe member, making Blackbeard the first cross species Seraphim. Also playing into this was throw away lines about Blackbeard memorizing the Devil Fruit encyclopedia, and we know Vegapunk also memorized it when he saw Luffy change into the white warrior and he says the gum gum fruit isn't in the encyclopedia. So if Blackbeard was tossed out as a failure, or was saved by Leffitte, we still only know of a handful of people who have seen the Devil Fruit encyclopedia for which Blackbeard may have had access to. In addition we still don't know if Buckingham Stussy has the same vampire genes that CP0 Stussy has, so maybe Stussy cloned herself with some extra Lulusia based genes spliced in to also stabilize young Stussy's spliced genes? Young Stussy is noted to look just like Buckingham stussy at 38, which means young Stussy was created about the same time as God's Valley with Weevil coming 3 years later.

Fav: Skypeia (Convince me Mars didn't have a brother named Gan Fall) and Joyboy was originally introduced. Least favorite: Long Ring, we all know why, or Wano because so much opportunity with a lot left on the table.

Blackbeard is from a winter island, Egghead is a winter island. Not everyone sleeps there because York sleeps for the other Punks too. We only know of 2 people who memorized the Old Devil Fruit encyclopedia, Blackbeard and Vegapunk. We also know chimera type beings were made on Punk Hazard like harpies and saytrs, Monet is 30 so a few years younger than Stussy from CP0 and Weevil. In the One Piece Mag Oda drew Blackbeards mom, who looks like Buckingham Stussy. 2 sisters likely got morphed into Boa Hancock's sisters, snakes being a sign of treachery.

Wano is the low point for me. As a manga reader, I've always enjoyed long ring, ended up liking fishman way more upon re-reading it, and punk hazard genuinely is a more dynamic location with more interesting concepts than Egghead. I also think skypia is one of the best arcs, delivering on the exploration aspect of one piece in ways no other arc does. I don't think I can say any of these things about Wano. Its a bloated mess that fumbles one piece's storytelling in some of the worst ways.

Worst are Wano, Dressrosa, Thriller Bark and Fishman Island. Best are Water Seven, East Blue and Jaia-Skypea. I also loved the smaller Drum and Whole Cake.

Wano just severely lacked EVERYTHING that one piece is good at. No adventurous feeling, no grounded stories, and barely any worthwhile side characters It’s clear Oda panicked and was worried about it being not climactic enough, so he focused on making it shonen baby hype slop

I think the Wano saga is OP's lowest, but more so everything related directly to Wano leading up to the actual arc itself. Dressrosa is an amazing arc and in my top 2 (Skypiea is #1 btw), but everything about Wano in that arc is a total afterthought, and that can be said about most of Wano related topics in general, from the time Luffy and Law joined forces to Kaido's defeat. It honestly felt like Wano should have been so much more than just the combat-centric self-actualization the monster trio got. Between the disbanding of the overall alliance with no true takeaway like Yamato or Carrot sticking around after; the conflict of Wano, while tragic, not being driven home enough to really sell the pain of the nation; Kaido and Momonosuke both being really lackluster characters narratively; and only more mysteries being brought up rather than anything being solved or explained... Wano really felt like it was missing that (forgive my language) post-nut surprise the others had, like the Grand Fleet forming, Jinbe officially joining the crew, or the Road Poneglyphs reveal on Zou. Luffy, Zoro, and Sanji growing as fighters is a given. G5, Zoro's Conqueror's, or Sanji's body activating via the raid suit usage could have EASILY been just as hype in any other arc, Wano didn't truly enhance those moments in any way. As for Momo and Kaido... It sucks how badly they bogged down the story. Momo to me is like bottom tier character writing. I'm shocked the son of Oden was only his son in name, and I would have LOVED (and much preferred) if Momo was this angry, aggressive kid, processing his trauma by trying to be better than the perpetrators of it, and so he had Luffy's recklessness, but with way more aggressive hot-headedness that got him scolded more often than not because he'd ruin plans or put others in danger. It could be the butt of jokes, where even Luffy gets annoyed by Momo messing things up, and the crew can be like "HMM SOUNDS FAMILIAR!!" whenever Luffy gets bothered. This version of Momo could even have his arc centered around metering his reckless abandon. Toning it down so he could be a true leader that doesn't endanger others, but protects them. Learning to calm down and take situations in stride, or be decisive in a way that serves all, not just him and his goals in that moment. This version could even still choose to age himself up, and now suddenly it's a legitimate three-on-one with Kaido, where each fighter directly plays a role in his defeat. Speaking of Kaido, as much as I love his feats of strength, he's kind of the opposite of Whitebeard in every conceivable way, but I say this mainly because Kaido is lackluster DESPITE his strength, instead of being great because of it, like WB. He lacks heart, he lacks that compelling aspect, he lacks a presence outside of combat... Which is all fitting given what he actually is: a depressed behemoth trying to give his life meaning through ending it with a glorious battle, but...he needed something. Like, he needed some level of compassion for Yamato as a father, instead of vicious cruelty. Like I imagine Kaido, instead of being a shit father, he's a great father in that he taught Yamato how to fight and use his great strength like him, and their only conflict as parent and child being Kaido's inability to understand Yamato's obsession with Oden and Wano, and not even acting violently in the face of this misunderstanding. Like what if he actually tried to make efforts to be a good father, but just could never break down that barrier, and Yamato, with Oden's memoire, gets lost in the fantasy of joining the Straw Hats when they arrive and outright betrays Kaido's love as a result, but because Yamato knows things Kaido can't possibly find out normally, the rift is both tragic and understandable, thus making Kaido a more compelling character because his love and effort as a father contrasts his viciousness towards the rest of the world. ALL THAT SAID... I really think Wano is going to have a part 2, so to speak, where Momo and Yamato get their much-needed moments and focus, because they really feel incomplete as characters, same with Wano as a setting. We never got a true glimpse of a stable way of life there, Oden changed everything and then left, and then came back as Orochi was bringing down the hammer, and then the land itself was going through it for 20 years while also secretly building up forces for a rebellion so like... And then there's Toki, coming from an ancient Wano... But overall, we have yet to see the true Wano, like how Dressrosa was poor but happy for so long with Riku as the monarch. So yeah, Wano's saga is my lowest point, and I hope it improves in the future with a second go in the spotlight. [edit] TOTALLY FORGOT... Expectations! Wano was built up for over a decade, and we got nothing to truly show for it beyond the mysteries! Even the smile fruits were a letdown, with how goofy and wacky they were. Like, given the lengths Law went to stop their production, I am shocked the fruits were so... Hit or miss. Like, none of them felt like threats worth destroying the source of. Now, the laughter side effect was worth stopping, but we didn't know that until after arriving. So yeah. The peaks of Luffy, Zoro, and Sanji being reached there works as a payoff for over a decade of dedicated writing and reading, but it felt like the only slice of the pie we never got to even see.
