The Best and Worst Boss Fights in Every Mario Game 

No one cares about pin or first beggars

In Paper Mario (2001), beating a single Anti-Guy in Shy Guy Toy Box is the best, but beating 3 Anti-Guys in Bowser's Castle is the worst.

One of things I've really appreciated about the Mario games, is that they're not meant to be super hard. They're meant to be fun.

New Super Mario Bros DS still has some of the most creative bosses of the 2D mario games Also was hoping to see SM64DS on the list! Goomboss and King Boo stood out to me as really cool new additions to the game. Chief Chilly not so much :P

One thing I noticed in all the new Super Mario Bros games with the Koopalings is that Lagway Von Kooppa always has really good boss fights none of them are bad while the other ones with the other Koopaling fights sometimes have bad fights depending on the game

There are so many bosses throughout the Mario series, there is no doubt that there is going to be a bad boss fight

Honestly I think boss fights are really fun sure some are bad and yet some others are good but they still feel fun especially super Mario Odyssey has the best hard mode bosses ever also I really love fighting bosses it's the greatest thing ever

Are literally all entries the final boss of each game? Edit: 99% of them are according to the list. This should've just been a worst list because to just say "the final fight against Bowser" every single time except twice is wholly uninteresting.

Fry Guy is easy if you collect the mushroom blocks on top and drop them down on him. You can even drop them on the top level when he swings up and keep the block available for another hit.

i feel like most of his reasoning for some of the bad boss fights was that they're hard. isn't that kinda the point? not hating or anything as i enjoy these videos a lot, just something i noticed.

So with the octopus boss in Super mario odyssey, you don't actually have to ground pound him. I didn't even know you could ground pound him. The simple method is to hit him exclusively with water. No Mario required.

my favorite boss fight is the classic 8-4 super mario bros. bowser boss fight.

Eely-mouth is more annoying than hard, and I’d rather hard. I don’t think he (they?) has ever hit me. I don’t get the phantamanta hate though, he ain’t that difficult… which I guess would also put him in the category of annoying, because beating him ain’t quick. bugaboom always bugged me (pun intended, cry about it) because I sucked at timing the ground pound as a kid, and I was trying to chase him. Never revisit that one childhood boss if you want it to remain difficult, unless that one childhood boss is the fawful express from M&L:BIS because the ds (or 3DS, in many cases) mic sucked for that flame attack

Unless I’m wacky the witch in Mario land 2 looks a bit like Waluigi. I know it’s a stretch, and an utter coincidence, but it’s pretty dang funny nonetheless Edit: is that colored version of the game unofficial? If so I wonder why they gave the witch a pink nose. I woulda made her green, or at least kept her skin tone consistent across the nose… maybe something to do with contrast or whatever

Is it because it's technically a 'Luigi' game that you... pretty much have 'never' included the Luigi game ithat's just the same g ame but every level is new and 100 seconds or something, on 'any' video, even the easter-egg ones. I dunno if it has much different from t he original as far as bosses or anything but... just seem to ignore that game 100% of the time.

Great video, but no mention of the Mecha bowser fight in toy time galaxy from galaxy 1 or the Digga leg in Galaxy 2. Both were great fights IMO because of the similar platforming challenges before hand. What do you think?

I think your opinion on bowser's fight in super mario sunshine being good is actually pretty unpopular. In fact, some people consider that fight to be one of, if not the worst fight bowser has ever got. They complain about his lack of challenge, the idea of him being in a giant flying hot tub pretty dumb, and apparently, some people even went trough the weak spot when they were destroyed.

In super mario odyssey, i think like you that the worst boss in the game is mollusque lanceur, but it's for different reasons. It's because all you really do in this fight is just zipping around the area while trying to get to the boss, who throws attacks at you that demand very little effort to dodge.

I love the Bowser fights in Galaxy. But his spikes retracting into his shell when he’s spinning always grossed me out a bit

Meowser kinda returns in Mario Maker 2 as an enemy you can place in your own level but since the game is 2D, his AI is completely different

The best bosses in Paper Mario (2001) are Koopa Bros, Tutankoopa, Tubba Blubba, General Guy, Lava Piranha, Huff N. Puff and Crystal King.

I think it's safe to say that the final Bowser fights never fail to disappoint, they are decidedly good. I can't think of a "bad" final bowser fight, and aside from, like, fights that are deliberately easy (like the tutorial Bowser fight in the Mario and Luigi saga) I'm hard-pressed to find a genuinely bad bowser fight in general

I know it's a spinoff but honorable mention to the dragon boss of Mario Sports Mix 😭😭😭

In super Mario 3d world, I believe that the histocrat is one of if not THE best boss fight.

By the way Mollusk Lancer is supposed to be hurt with the gushin's water stream. Not your ground pound

I like watching SMB3 Bowser getting taken out with fireballs or hammers.

I think that in Mario + Rabbids sparks of hope the best Boos is Cursa and the worst is giant goomba.

While technically not a Mario game, I'd say an honorable mention to Yoshi's Island since the baby Mario is still a prominent character. Best fight is the finale with Bowser Jr, who is transformed into a Godzilla type monster that creeps forward. Just that whole part was amazing. And the worst would be the easiest one Marching Milde, it just becomes an annoying fight because it keeps spawning smaller versions of itself, not much of a challenge there and that late in the game you'd think you'd be getting tougher enemies that that.

You don't need to ground pound the octopus boss u can use the gusher

From sunshine, the Manta Ray was my absolute favorite boss battle. You can just spam spray the ray and the boss is dead

Also the Rango fight in Super Mario Odyssey is SUPER EASY because you can just ground pound on top on him and beat him under a minute

I don't recall Rezors being easy. Perhaps if the ground in those battles were solid and you had the entire screen to dodge fireballs, but I remember always running out of ground to stand on and how difficult it was to avoid the last one's fireballs when the only thing left to stand on was the platforms the defeated ones were standing on. Granted, I'm not sure I beat Forest, Chocolate, and Valley fortresses more than once or twice each, so I really only have practice with the weakest version of that boss... and if I'm mistaken that the Rezors fights get harder, then I probably had the adrenline rush of being close to beating some of the hardest levels in the game making it seem like the difficulty had been cranked up from the Vanilla Forteress fight.

Larry Koopa from Super Mario World was kind of disappointing. It’s such a tough castle, but the boss is just a slightly harder repeat of the First battle against Lemmy
