One of my favourite bosses and my choice for second most underrated boss after the demon princes is Lothric and Lorian, I don't disagree with Gael being better but I feel like they should be considered by more people.

I fucking love the music in that fight. That, and the teleport-fakeouts, the clanging of Lorian's sword, very memorable almost rhythmic combos, the mix of physical attacks and magic from the boss, i just like Twin Princesa a lot, probably my favorite base game boss, even if they tend to be on the easier side.

My favourite boss moment ever was reaching Sister Friede's third phase. I had only played DS1 and DS2 before DS3, so from my knowledge she was the first ever third phase boss fight. Thinking I'd won the fight after beating Friede and Ariandel with barely any VGR left and no Estus only to watch her rise up with the Blackflame effect was surreal.

Another fight i think deserves to be mentioned is the demon prince from ds3: phase 1 has you change your approach based on how many demons are currently in fire phase, which is very unique and in phase 2 you are constantly trying to prevent the prince from making distance so you need to be really aggressive. I’m convinced if you don’t do this fight solo you are really missing out, more than other duo fights. EDIT: wording

For sure. Demon Prince's first phase ended up being the best duo fight in the franchise. They are by far the most balanced with the two phases of each demon, and the fact that depending on which demon you kill, you get a different ultimate move is really cool. Plus, the ost is definitely one of the best.

For DS3, I'd like to mention Midir, who is my pick for favorite dragon fight in the series, and Champion Gundyr, who was the boss I had the most trouble with in my first run of DS3. Yes, even Nameless King caused me less consternation than Gundyrs hockey check and Sparta kick. And I loved every minute of it. That said, I do think I agree with Gael for best. He feels like a proper capstone for Dark Souls boss design.
@cyrusrahimi2815
@cyrusrahimi2815 Год назад
Midir is quite easily the worst dragon boss in the series. Before elden beast, midir was there to be that one boss that spends 90 percent of the boss fight running from one side of the other. Add in the hardest boss of DS3 (the camera), the laser attack with lingering hit boxes and all questionable hit detection and midir is easily one of the shittiest bosses in the whole series
@kaedyngraham1860
@kaedyngraham1860 10 месяцев назад
@@cyrusrahimi2815midir has the best music, the best arena, most difficulty, and highest learning curve of all the bosses in DS3. You quite literally need to face him head on and memorize his attacks and counter with hits to his face to win quickly. Going under is a huge mistake. He is the best dragon boss of the entire series and they literally copy and pasted his AI into Elden Ring for almost every dragon fight

I think the main problem with godskin duo is that you *have* to have sleep or some other gimmick/cheese for them to feel like a fair fight. they're also just two bosses that don't synergize well, shoved into a room barely bigger than a dungeon boss arena, both of wich you've likely battled before multiple times already. if they where just replaced with another boss entirely, i think more people would look forward to ferum.

Slightly off topic, but that bit about Dragon God is exactly what my biggest problem with the remake is. Sure, it may have had technical limitations at the time, but it doesn't anymore. Why is it the same fight on the PS5? There was a lot that they could have changed but they were way too faithful to the original. I think a lot of these make sense. Can't really be mad at anything that won any of these votes. Elden Ring being the most split makes sense to me too, I think almost every remembrance boss is phenomenal and worthy of being the top spot. I didn't think Sword Saint Isshin would run away with the win like that though, as I felt Owl (Father) is a very strong contender for best boss in Sekiro and even Genichiro as well. The thing i always note about dark souls 2 having "too many dudes in armour" as bosses is that dark souls 2 doesn't really have any kind of strong cursed entities running around or underlying curse, like in dark souls 1 there was the advent of demons and the abyss influencing the world, in dark souls 3 Aldrich is doing his whole goopy deep thing with the pontiff while demons are still hanging around just about, meanwhile dark souls 2 is just "there are undead", the demons are absent, there isn't any generally corrupting influence on Drangleic walking about with the only one that is there is content to sit on her arse and wait for you to do her job for her, 99% of dragons are content to live in the end game area and the war with the giants is done and over. You're literally fighting the last vestiges of a dead kingdom, no demon's, only one abyssal creature, not a peep of the deep and barely a dragon, just dude's in armour still lingering on the mistakes of men both ancient past and relevant present. (Not defending it, still a little lazy on some cases but something i always think about)

I was honestly kind of surprised about how people felt about the godskin duo because I did an arcane/faith first playthrough because one of the first items I got was the dragon communion seal, so by the time I got to that fight I was just able to kill them so quickly that I just assumed everyone had an easy time with it. I would definitely rate the gargoyles higher because they're way less susceptible to eider range of character builds.

I agree with all of them but for ds3 I think the worst is Crystal Sage, just an annoying fight, you can get gang banged out of nowhere in the 2nd phase and at least wolnir and ancient wyvern are incredibly easy. Sage although easy can just kill you for no reason. Another one I disagree with is Sekiro best boss, I think Genichiro is the best in Sekiro although I can see why a lot of people like isshin. And then Elden Ring my favorite is Mohg, not even sure why, I guess I just like his moveset. Also Mohg's music is really good.

Dunno if this was just a slip-up, but regarding Allant's Soulsucker, you said 'if you die after he does this, those levels are gone for good', but it's the other way around. If you die, the sucked levels will be in your bloodstain to be reclaimed, but if he sucks your levels and then you win, they're gone for good. I voted Folding Screen Monkeys as worst, fine concept/idea, but bad execution imo / in my experience. I just walked around and killed the monkeys as I found them, not even realising there were these intended steps/strats. On repeat playthroughs, despite knowing what we're supposed to do, the encounter is still a janky chore. Ape duo ain't great but I enjoy it more than FSM. Seeing a couple 'Gargoyles worse than Godskin' comments. Imo Godskin is worse primarily due to being mandatory. The way they respawn with no indication as to why or what is happening (no snail or necromancer etc present) makes them feel lazily-made too. Anyway great vid :D No surprises really. I mostly agreed with this list until elden ring. Malenia is the best boss, no question. As for worst, I agree with you about gargoyles. Godskin duo rewards you for using status, magic, and weapon arts. It’s only hard if you try to brute force your way through it like it’s dark souls 1. Plus, the music is so incredible and recognizable they used it instead of the title theme at the GOTY awards. Gargoyles have no weaknesses, there’s no cover, can’t be parried, immune to status, and spew poison every 2 seconds.

Gank Squad simply unifies everything that is wrong with many DS2 bossed. It's a gank fight with reused assets that's not necessarily hard, but tedious to fight. The run to the boss is absolutely awful and you don't even get anything useful for beating them. Other awful bosses either don't have a long boss run, like royal rat authority, or are easy to beat, like prowling magus and congregation.

I think the most important thing to note about these kinds of votes is that the worst bosses in each of the souls games are similar to the poison swamps. Yes, we hate the swamps, but they're there to create a contrast, and I am confident that the games as a whole are better because of them and that they shouldn't be removed or (substantially) changed.

god dammit I'm genuinely a little pissed radhan got best boss I think his fight is funny and the gimmick is cool but I don't personally find it that hard and I found other bosses way more memorable and interesting and challenging for me. Radhan is certainly up there as one of the best but I think certain obnoxious parts of this community are a little bit over obsessed with him. Then again I am very obsessed with Malenia and find her to be the best boss in elden ring due to her insane difficulty, the way she subverts rules of the soulsborne formula, her intimidating, beautiful, yet disgusting design, it all culminates in a fight I will always hold dear to my heart as I find these games at their best when it takes me over 100 attempts to kill a boss and I'm left with my heart pounding out of my chest when it's finally over. With Radhan I've never gotten that feeling, at most I got a big hearty laugh out of his design and the way he just dissappears midfight only to come back as the "woooo!" guy from sekiro. Woo guy walked so Radhan could -run- plummet towards the earth as a comet.

Sure the latter takes a lot longer, but clever play and patience goes a long way here while the former often felt way too luck based for my like. Sometimes all the rats rushed me asap which was almost certainly a wipe while they also sometimes just waited and came at me one on one which made things A LOT easier.

Certainly can’t argue with false king Allant. Set a great precedent for roughly player sized bosses being some of the best in the series. While my favourite in the game is Tower Knight, I can agree Allant is probably the best, as it’s ahead of its time. Nobody can really argue Dragon God isn’t the worst. Personally I don’t even think of it as a boss, just a little bit of extra running (and waiting) after Flamelurker. Would pick maneaters personally as the worst, as if you try to fight them honestly you’re in for a bad time. Not surprised to see Artorias as number one, I think I voted for him as well. Definitely the best fight in the game from a lore perspective and arguably mechanically as well. As for best base game boss O&S would definitely be the pick. Could be interesting at some point to separate base game and DLC for rankings, as the best bosses in these games tend to be DLC (Artorias, Alonne/Fume Knight, Ludwig/Lady Maria, Gael). Bed of bullshite is the worst in the whole series. Gotta love running a marathon through blinding lava and around dozens of enemies only to get knocked over by the boss and then pushed around like I’m an air hockey puck. Completely agree with these choices for DS1. DS2 was a tough choice for me, as I think Burnt Ivory King (my personal favourite), Fume Knight, and Sir Alonne are all deserving of the spot. I would give the edge to Fume Knight between the two of them, as he’s more iconic both in terms of difficulty as well as his weapon. I was a bit surprised to not see Lud and Zallen at the bottom as it combines two things souls players hate (reskins and ganks) but I suppose many players might not even know about the boss considering the preceding area. At least the big cats are sort of unique, more memorable than gank trio for sure. That would absolutely be my choice for worst; only redeeming part is the unique arena layout but even that’s pushing it due to the statues down below. I can’t remember who I chose for Bloodborne but based on previous tier lists I’ve made Lady Maria was probably my choice. Might be Ludwig was just a tad too frustrating in phase 1 and a tad too easy in phase 2 for my liking, but I’ll absolutely support him as the overall best. I think from a purely gameplay perspective I prefer Maria. Might also be that the moment it clicked with me that Bloodborne was a masterpiece was when her huge phase transition blood slash synced to the vocals in her OST. Learning about what her use of blood arts meant made that moment even more impactful in retrospect. My second favourite in the game is Martyr Logarius, and it’s a shame that I don’t hear anybody talk about him. I can’t remember if I voted for Shadows of Yharnam or the Witches for worst, but I don’t think either is particularly abhorrent. Bloodborne’s bosses are consistently solid with none standing out as horrible and a few rising above as amazing. Completely predicted Gael as first place, and he is my second favourite behind the Soul of cinder. Gael is better mechanically for sure, but SoC is pushed over because of the atmosphere, music, and lore. That phase transition is the best in the series with the flawless shift of the music; both your eyes and ears recognise the influence of Gwyn simultaneously, and that moment alone puts the fight over Gael for me. As for the worst, like dragon God I don’t think about Ancient Wyvern as a boss and that lets me enjoy it a bit more. My choice went to the pox-ridden greatwood, for making me waste time and embers every playthrough before deciding to come back at a higher level and with access to ranged attacks. How could Sekiro not have Sword Saint Isshin win? He’s top 3 in the whole series for me, and Owl Father isn’t too far behind. Two fast paced encounters with legendary figures that truly push your shinobi skills to the absolute limit. Their personalities show through their movesets as well: Isshin is relentless and a true master of combat, using three types of weapons seamlessly in combos with absurd hit counts, and Owl has all sorts of tricks up his sleeve like firecrackers, shuriken, mikiri counters, and even the mist feather to make sure he always has the upper hand. The headless ape fight sucks, first phase I enjoy but once the second shows up it’s either trivialised by spamming firecrackers or mortal draw, or it becomes the most unfair fight in the game if you’re out of resources. Even though I always use a speedrunning strategy, I rather like the monkeys and it’s a shame to see them low. My top choices for Elden Ring are Lichdragon Fortissax and Dragonlord Placidusax. Both have incredible atmospheres, soundtracks (especially Fortissax), and moves with amazing visuals. At first I questioned Elden Ring winning best art design at the game awards, but after thinking about these two fights I decided it was justified. What can I say, I’m a sucker for that red lightning. Radahn and Radagon are also right up there for me, and it’s far from a hot take but if Radagon were a solo fight he’d definitely be a top contender for more people. Godfrey I think is one of the most solid bosses in the game, as unlike with other bosses there’s really nothing I can think of that’s annoying or unfair. Not surprised for the Godskin Duo but I would 100% agree that the duo gargoyles are worse since they aren’t ever passive (like the Godskins can sometimes be) and can’t even be reasonably cheesed (like the Godskins can) since they’re immune to literally every status. Plus at least there’s the Godskin Apostle OST to enjoy during that fight. Fighting one gargoyle is horrible enough, two is just stupid. Overall I agreed with the rankings, and for the ones where I didn’t personally agree I can absolutely see why people feel the way they do and sometimes even agree that choice is objectively better/worse than my own. Thanks for another great video to end the year with, and thanks for your continued community engagement!

I’d say my least favorite of Elden Ring has to be what you showed at the end, Astel, Natural Born of the Void. Ridiculous poise that almost never breaks for me, its odd body shape and constant movement making it harder to hit safely, plus those super wide range gravity attacks that are nigh impossible to avoid in most circumstances. Then to make it worse, it gets copy pasted with zero variation into a mine dungeon. Like, I normally defend the boss reuse of ER, but only because there tends to be a change. Like with the “Watchdogs” you get one with a sword, then one that’s magic, then one with imps, then both types together, each variation changes how you approach it. But Astel? Nah, just same boss again. At least with the smaller Star Beast it’s about facing it in a small space instead of open field
