I mean it’s a mix of modern cartoons and anime. The comedy and vibe is more cartoon, but the art style flip flops where Chai and Macaroon look cartoon-ish but then Korseka and that straight up JoJo’s villain are anime as hell

It feels like a more creative "New Super Legend Of Zelda Wii"(admittedly a lot more creative) Pizza tower literally started a boom in Indie Wario-Land inspired games (also totk brought down by switch not having HDR) Don't get me wrong, TOTK is a great game, I just don't think in execution it's that innovative. In concept it is but in execution It's like they Gamified BOTW More. Pizza tower is a game straight out of 2011, It's the sequel to Wario Land: Shake it that is merged with Sonic Generations

@@WohaoG To be fair, Antonblast was already far in development when Pizza Tower released. It'll be fun to see in the coming years the variations people make to the Wario Land formula.

Idk I'm probably biased since BOTW was my fav game for years but I've gone back to it since beating TOTK and it's still a lot of fun. TOTK replaces a lot of the overworld exploration with caves and the depths, which makes sense since we've already explored Hyrule before but leaves a lot of the overworld feeling empty. Like anywhere there isn't a mountain or a well leading to a cave doesn't have much to offer, especially now that most of the minibosses were moved to the Depths (and Guardians are no longer in the game at all). Going back to BOTW after TOTK, I keep getting surprised by just how much stuff is everywhere, there's no spot on the map that's empty. I still liked TOTK but I think BOTW still offers things it doesn't at times.

Botw objectively better, for one main reason. The powers you get from the main story are actually usable and not the trash gimmick bs "press A" + dont get hit + "press A again". I will die on this hill. It makes the game unplayable

A ton of content is on the surface, and while a lot is divided into the sky and depths now too, you’re supposed to explore everything, not just the surface. In fact, you have side adventures, shrines, caves and bubbuls, koroks, side quests, sign guys, even more mini-bosses, wells, memories, camps, more enemies, compendium. Yeah, guardians are gone but now we have gloom hands/phantom Ganon and Gleeoks Overall, you’re supposed to explore everything, not just the surface. TOTK has more content than BOTW and a lot of the depths stuff is totally unique to the type of content on the surface anyway. Not to mention a lot of the gear is in the game and not stuck behind amiibos. The sky divides some content with the surface like some koroks and shrines but you also have old maps and sage upgrades. So the exploration isn’t sacrificed. Yeah some of it is spread out, but the game has more content to spread in the first place.

Pretty much how I feel about Xenoblade Chronicles

I loved BotW but idk with TotK something just isn't clicking with me. I don't like the new building mechanics and much prefer the BotW mechanics. Also imo everything feels tedious - that's the word I would use to best describe BotW. BotW had a map that was fun to explore - you could go in any direction and still feel rewarded. In TotK going in any direction feels awful, because you can just create a vehicle which imo breaks the whole immersion of the game. Walking anywhere feels bad as it's so slow but vehicles break immersion. In BotW I was captivated by the world and wanted to explore, climbing every hill, tower, exploring every optional area, taking my time. In TotK it feels as if I HAVE to explore everywhere in order to find the full purpose - there's nothing enticing me to do it other than the hope that it will eventually get better. In TotK I find there is essentially no memorable story up to the point I'm at. The objective has split into the 4 points across the map, and I already forget why. I was looking to do the memories randomly but now apparently they matter and you can trigger the end of the story at the beginning of the game. The gameplay is still "fun" as always, but there's a spark missing that I can't put my finger on, but it takes away from all areas of the game imo. I know in theory everything should be better, but to me it just doesn't feel that way. Anyone else feeling like this or is it just a me thing? My brother feels the exact same way.

@@azuremk__3101 I do think that the memories especially could have been made more sequential. Getting the Master Sword memory early does make it feel like the game itself is spoiling its own other cutscenes. That’s a detriment of the open world style of storytelling. But to me, I actually like both BotW AND TotK, for different reasons. I played BotW 5 times including 2 full shrine+DLC runs. I’ve only played TotK once but already have 150 hours in it and almost all the shrines heh. I can see a bit what you mean about BotW feeling like it’s more actual exploration (you couldn’t so simply fly everywhere in that game as a normal player); however, I don’t think it’s that “TotK exploration is worse”, I think it’s just different. BotW’s exploration was focused on the kingdom itself, its lands and areas, and being introduced to new forms of the Rito, Gerudo, Zora, and Gorons. In TotK, we are expected to already be familiar with at least some of that, and so instead the exploration becomes less about getting to see their individual lands, and more on seeing how they specifically will impact Hyrule, as a wider community. Breath of the Wild was about “the wild”; Tears of the Kingdom is about “the kingdom”. The exploration and stories of each game reflect that. BotW is about Link being (relatively) alone and trying against all odds to help a ruined, wild kingdom find salvation from Ganon. TotK is about building up friendships that were sparked in the last game and bridging the gaps between the different races, so that collectively, they all become the “new kingdom”, with far greater strength together than apart. So thus, the exploration of the second game is less about the physical locations (at least on the surface), and more about the peoples there. I think they both make a great overall connected narrative. However, I can see that if your focus is on the physical exploration, BotW would probably be more immersing. But so to would it feel better if you like character interactions that TotK would probably feel better to that person. It’s all about perspective. So I personally think I’ll still return to BotW sometimes but I still like both it and TotK, I just see different values in their gameplay styles

This year has been really gooood

Everything coming out at the end with probably exception of final fantasy, (even though I am not an FF fan from what I have heard from friends who are FF fans the games have been pretty good lately and they like the studio producing it so I am assuming that will most likely be good), have close to 50% chance of being really good or really bad, and maybe depending on the game like a 50, 10, 40 chance, (50 bad, 40 good, and 10 that they will be ok or decent games but were over promised and over hyped so the game while good falls short of expectations and is hated by the internet anyways).

Oh yeah, end of this year is stacked like no one's business! Mortal Kombat 1, Super Mario Bros wonder, Pikmin 4, super Mario rpg remake, armoredcore fires of Rubicon and so on

If you listened to his points you'd know that he won't change his stance on it because the game is fundamentally the same as btow. He sees no point in exploring because there is no pay off, no real point to it all. I agree with coney and feel like people ignore this crucial part of why he doesn't like the game. Why explore somewhere when your best reward is some weapon that'll break or rupees, and while you explore you'll probably break a weapon along the way. Personally I think zelda fails in that part of open world as opposed to skyrim or fallout where their rewards are worth it.

​​​@@someguy1629 Exploring is different in totk man, why fight monsters when weapon break you say? Because monsters drop their horns which can be used to fuse therefore a rewarding combat system, why go to caves or depth there are literally 120 different clothing and armor AND a bunch unique weapons (That CAN be repaired) scattered around the map, maybe exploring in botw was a bit lackluster but in this game? You compared it to fallout and Skyrim but totk literally has more armor and weapon variation of both of them combined.

That's actually my biggest criticism of the game. There is so much innovation but it's barely required to progress through the game. It's like playing through Portal with the portal gun being optional.

​@@mourning_sun_Uhh no man, you will be dying a lot, also not forgetting that ultrahand and autobuild is best for building transportation, building a death machine is hardly worth it damage wise. But it is fun

@@Anthnax ...there's the entire rest of the game to play? The mechanics are there because they're fun, but if you don't like them, you are *almost* never forced to use them

His main gripe with botw that I also agree with was that exploring doesnt feel worth it because the best reward you get is some weapon that'll break or ruppees and fighting enemies is pointless since you just break your weapons and get nothing out of it. Pretty sure that's the same in totk.

@@johnnyboi77 Botw literally feels empty with zero enemy variety and options of traversal in comparison to totk. Dungeons were garbage in botw, Story was really bad, your allies were there for 2 minutes max, the only fully good part of the experience were the shrines. Totk on the other hand, enemy variety is way nicer, the dungeons are a fantastic experience, story is a little meh at points but the memories actually serve a purpose. Traversal is more fun, and less “now i gotta climb this?” Totk fixes every problem botw had, and made it 10x better Calling botw a tech demo in comparison isn’t far off.

@@devinc578 the dungeons in the game are all extremely repetitive and make you do 4 to 6 puzzles before a boss just like divine beast they added like 2 new enemy like like and Construct majority of the enemies are still Bokoblin and Lizalfos the map is basically the same thing aside the depths which is just dark even all the main objectives in the game are the exact same thing go to village we’re something is wrong talk to the leader of village do divine beast/dungeon gets u power up u can use for the rest of the game the memories also serve just as much of a purpose in this game as the last it tell a mid story that happened in the past and it gives u a cutscene after the credits basically the exact same thing and traversing is basically the same asides from Ascend which is cool but nothing in totk make it feel like it’s 10x better then botw it just feels like a slightly better sequel we’re took the previous game copy the majority of what that was but added a couple new features.
